  • Note to videographer: Learn editing then you won't have to sound so impatient...with your mom.

  • Can you use a slow cooker to melt the base?

  • I love your products! My aunt got some for me(orange euphoria), she knows my obsession with natural prod.! lol.I've just recently started making my own lotion, soaps, lip balm etc etc. but I am going to start making some to donate to a local rescue I work with. They have auctions, raffles to raise money and I was wondering where you buy your ingredients? Buying many small jars of ingredients is way too expensive. Bulk would be best price wise I believe. Any suggestions on where to buy?

  • Okay, is it just me or is the son/camera guy ... borderline disrespectful?

  • @EricaMuhammad there is lye in ALL bases. All soap begins with the lye process.

  • Oh hey! Have you ever tried Cashinizer (google it)? Ive heard some unbelivable things about it and my cooworker made a ton of cash practically overnight with it. ;D

  • Super video ..like this!

  • She had my order until she started sniffing and talking over that pot. I guess the surprise ingredients are cold germs and spit. And don't tell me that she is talking b/c of that guy interviewing her. She is showing us that should she be questioned or interrupted, she will contaminate the product. How easy is it to turn her head sideways to speak? Very.

  • Can you visit this soap making blog wwwbloggercom it for people that want to talk to other people that make soap.

  • this is misleading.... M&P does not need to be cured. M&P contains a fairly high percentage of water, adding fresh goat's milk will increase the water percentage, thus making the soap soft. Unless using powdered goat's milk. Also, when cutting soap base, gloves have to be used and not with bare hands so as to avoid contaminations.

  • how much of each ingredient do you use? I'd love to make my own soap....

  • It was fun for me to learn this.,.

  • thanks for the vid. please tell me, do you add lye yourself? and when? thanks

  • can you just use the base as a saop with out adding any thing else to it?

  • @1hotsummernight

    yes, you can

  • Good job on your video I liked it very much!

  • @satellitetune

Thank you so much! My son is the master video man. He had to lead me through, I am camera shy.

  • I love all of the wonderful natural goodness that you add to your soaps.. You make soapmaking look fun.. oxox Sherry

  • @HappyBubblesSoap

Thanks! I made it for my son, so it has the best in it.

  • Roughly how much would you think all of the ingredients and such cost in total?

  • @tmonkeypunch

That would be hard to say. It is according to the amount you purchase. It is expensive!

  • @HandmadeSoaps Okay - well then, how much did you roughly spend for this one?

  • Sorry, but the soap Mickey making is NOT real soap.. You have to use lye!

  • @fenaocha

It is a melt and pour base that I begin with and the lye process is already done. It IS REAL SOAP and with the ingredients I add to that base it is a HIGH QUALITY REAL SOAP!

  • Ha, ha I love the guy filming. "What I'm asking is: Is this almost done?"

  • @yolowell

    He is my son!

  • Soap is for common consumers. Insanely rich Arabs use fine, sticky clay for personal hygiene.

  • Since there is goat milk in the soap should the base be refrigerated.

  • @ladyhenna5

    No that is not needed.

  • @ladyhenna5

    not needed

  • @ladyhenna5

    no it doesn't

  • @sonnic36

It is an all natural soap. An all vegetable, natural melt and pour base with more all natural and organic ingredients added to make a very moisturizing bar.

  • @HandmadeSoaps Is there any Lye in this soap? Im looking to make soap without adding lye.

  • I have made my own soap before, but I didn't know that soap can be made with glycerine and not lye. Thank you for showing us, this helped me a lot.

  • @MsHoppytoad

You cannot make soap without lye. The base she is using has already been created and cured. Look on her site, the product description states "saponified oils of" which means the soap has gone through a saponification process which is what happens when lye and oils react and turn into soap. Mikki is then melting it and adding her own additional ingredients.

  • @erinthecitymouse I actually bought a premade glycerine and olive oil base which I then added oatmeal, lavender flowers, vitamin e and essential oils This is my first attempt in a long time. I didn't like the way it came out.

  • goats milk is natural? lol

  • @sexytubes

It doesn't get much more natural than that! "If it got any fresher you'd be milking the goat!"

  • @sexytubes LOL, obviously it's natural, what unnatural about it? I comes from goats, duh

  • @ShumiKawaii88 you probably think that drinking milk is "naturally" good for you.

  • @sexytubes I didn't say anything about drinking milk, I said the goat's milk is natural because it came straight from the goat. Unless you think she has a robot goat?

  • When the Philosophers speak of water and lye, from which they extract their matter, are we to suppose that they refer to the natural water and lye? A. By no means; natual water and lye are dead, while those of the Philosophers are full of life_Paracelsus. "Alchemical Catechism" I edited water = Gold , lye = sylver and natural = vulgar in original text hehehe ;) UNITY, thanks for the vid

  • Thank you for sharing this with us. It is an interesting process ... always wanted to try it out myself ... but never really found time ...

  • @spankses

Thank goodness some of us have found the natural ones and add to them with more natural and organic ingredients to make a great soap. Thanks for your concern.

  • Here is a link to the best soap making Informaion I have found

  • @kempstr

Thanks so much for that great comment!

  • Looks like you have been doing this for some time. Interesting process; is there any soap that would call for a different base formula? Thanks for sharing.

  • @CatspitProductions

you can create any base formula to suit your needs. Change it, test it, make another for whatever issue you have. Trial and error!

  • @HandmadeSoaps what are the different types of base that can be used?

  • can i add s many ingredients as i want to a melt and our base to create my own base?

  • @chrylhamiltonsoap

    yes, you can. experiment!

  • when u use a pot to make soaps is it okay to use it for cooking?

  • @leesm27

I wouldn't if I were you. I keep a separate set of pots for my soap. Cross contamination isn't good.

  • Problem with lush is - some of them contain sodium laurel sulphates - which are not good.

  • @rawrrawrrawr03 Nothing beats homemade because you actually KNOW exactly what's going inside of your beauty products.

  • @CRAAAAAZYGIRLY actually at the store they list every single one of the ingrediants used to make their products :)

you should stop by a store its awesome

  • These videos are great.

When I try to make my own soap a skin forms on top while I wait for it to cool down so I can add the essential oils. How do you avoid that?

  • @myrtlesage I stir often during the cooling process.

  • share to me please the ratio and proportion email me at socatoasincos@yahoo.com

  • These were great videos but the guy that was filming seemed to be a jerk. He was rude to you and rushing you :(

  • Thanks for the basics. I give out gifts of homecrafted milk, oat and salt baths and body butters; would love to include soap. Good luck with your business.

  • @PartyArdie1 How do you make body butters? It sound like a winner.

  • very helpful

  • @icemocha1

    Thank you!

  • I see. well, it think your soap is great. though, it's just one color. i see other soaps that are very colorful but i dont know if they are good to the skin. Can you share the measurements of your ingredients?

  • @momofandi

My soaps are different colors, it has great ingredients and I can't share the measurements but you can have a great time experimenting with your own blend.

  • why do you have to remelt it? why not pour in the fragrance and scrubs all together while it's all hot.

  • @momofandi

I do this because I pour in small batches and supply stores plus sell over the web and I have limited space because I work from my home. So I pour a base and then pour the scents fresh to order so the aroma is incredible! I like to add these things at a lower temp.

  • wow...and you'll melt it all over again? why is that? can't you just pour in the fragrance and scrubs all together while it's still hot?

  • THe gentlemen in this video seemed to be rushing you and it really annoyed me. But you did a wonderful job. Thanks for the info, its inspiring. You have a warm spirit

  • My gosh! That guy was annoying!!! But I love your soap recipe:)

  • Did she pronounce it "Hwite"? Why is she putting so much emphasis on the "H". =)

  • I LOVE this! Thank you!!!

So.... where can I get glycerin bars? I see that you did not use lye at all!

  • @RareEmerauld86

You start at your local craft store to purchase amounts I think up to 10#. Practice, and google recipes, pick up books at your craft store or bookstore, healthfood store, then google suppliers of glycerin base for later. If you have the space do the lye process. Soap away! Good luck!

  • @HandmadeSoaps Thank you! You're both cute, by the way :)

  • but there was no trace, how did that work out?

  • "tbh" is a new one for me. what does it mean? (so off topic *L*)

  • "tbh" = to be honest

    hth!!

    (hope that helps)

  • Homemade soap is always better for your skin then store bought. Good Job!

  • Lye is not organic and naturally safe?

  • No, not by itself! But after saponification it is a different thing all together.

  • omg she is soo cute :D

  • Thanks!!

  • what are the ohs of using soap?

  • Don't know what you are asking!

  • well, it's not vegan

    lol

    but it is organic :)

  • I can make some vegan. I do have Patchouli, vegan and a vegan OMG creme, and a Vegan Lip Jam. But the rest of my products do have either goatsmilk or beeswax.

  • What is the reason for melting the "soap" twice? Does it add any benefits to the soap?

Do you add the lye during the second melting then?

  • The lye is added to the first step you don't see in this video. I add so much of my own ingredients in the second step that it needs to cure before I add the essential oil, color and exfoliate.

  • Just to ask a stupid question, is this a hot process method of making soap (looks that way to me)?

  • you forgot to say that you need to do many things before add parfume and herbs!! why your not sharing to whole recipe???????

  • Can't I buy the pear glycerine soap and remelt it and add my extra goodies.

I don't like the lye part, either. Rather skip it.

  • you could give it a try and see what you get.

  • are there other bases you can use aside from glycerin? also, do you make or know anything about making liquid soaps or lotions?

  • you can google soap bases and see what is out there. I don't do liquid soaps and yes I do make a lotion. You can google lotion recipes also and a good book for lotions and cremes is Donna Maria, Making aromatherapy creams & lotions.

  • but did you put any lye in it? i am justa bit scared to use it as i heard it s a bit dangerous.:(

  • Yes, lye is in all soaps. Be carefull when you do use it because it is dangerous until it saponifies completely, then it is soap.

  • don't be scared! it stings on your skin but just wash it away with cold water. use gloves, glasses and don't lean over the lye whe you mix it into the water....it really is nothing to be scared of....have fun...it's great!

  • can you tell me if you put lye in your soaps? is it necessary to put lye in the soap? sorry i am doing a lot of research about making soap and i can t wait to start making soap too. i am taking a class soon.:)

  • lye is in all soap that I am aware of. Good luck soaping!

  • @csps123 there is a nice forum filled with great info called teach soap. There are a lot of great and helpful people there. also a good book that i swear by is smart soapmaking by ann watson. she is simple and to the point. good luck!

  • Wonderful video! Very clear... Thank you for taking the time to show people how make soap. Really appreciated.

  • Thank you for the kind words. I love doing it.

  • isn't it soup? and not soap?

  • soup is what you eat. soap is what you wash your body with

  • yeah then this dude cant spell :P

  • thank you so much for sharing this with us! I have always wanted to try my hand at making soap and I am glad to see there are people out there making videos about it.

BTW - you were great on camera. I got a very "at home" feeling and your voice is soothing. ;-) Keep em coming!

  • I think the cameraman did a good job prompting you .

  • Thank you! I am camera shy and if he hadn't prompted me, there would be no video!

  • the video goes really fast. what are the ingredients. plus the video starts off with the glycerin already; being melted. Can we start from the beginning?

  • Check out her other videos. Step 1 is there plus part 3 that follows this one.

  • do you make liquid soap

  • No, not at this time.

  • I love handmade soap, it's all I use and buy.

But the cameraman is a jerk. Impatient jerk who keeps cutting you off and asking if things are done!

  • Handmade soaps are wonderful. I hope you will give mine a try. The cameraman knew I was nervous and was trying to lead me along, my first video and I am camera shy. He was trying to add some humor, sorry if it was mis-understood.

  • Your cameraman is kind of a jerk. He shouldn't be cutting you off and cracking dumb jokes, it detracts from your otherwise awesome video. 'Counter-clockwise stirring?' 'Is this almost done?' 'I'm funny like that!' He is not doing you any favors, and is a terrible cameraman to boot. Good luck with your soap business, though.

  • Thanks for the good luck wishes. This was my first time being taped and I was very nervous. He was just trying to lead me into conversation and keep it light hearted. Sorry if it affended or came off in the wrong way.

  • i thought it was funny. cant make everything serious

  • I realy like what you are doing...but why you have to remelt it to add the "finishing touch"...why you do not add it on the first stage?

    what is the difference?

  • I so appreciate the care that you put into your soap making. I will happily subscribe to your channel and check out your soaps for sale. Many thanks

  • Glycerin is the product of the saponification of Glycerol , right?

  • Wrong. They're 2 words for the same substance.

  • I do know the exact ingredients. If you subscribe to my channel and send a message you should get an auto-matic responder with all my ingredients and the benefits. Let me know if the list gets to you. Thanks Mickey

  • Ok, thank you.

  • Winter077-- My hockey mom can beat up your soccer mom.

  • Thanks for your reply. Do you know the exact ingredients of your soap base? Does the manufacturer of the soap base make that information readily available to you?

  • How is glycerin made? Do the manufactures of glycerin use all natural and organic ingredients? Ive heard that glycerin includes sugar and alcohol..is this true?

  • Glycerin, also called glycerol and glycerine, or 1,2,3-propanetriol, is a sugar alcohol, but does not contain sugar in the sense of sucrose (root sugar, sap sugar, table sugar) or alcohol in the sense of ethanol (ethyl alcohol), which are separate substances. There are many other sugar alcohols, such as sorbitol, mannitol, and xylitol.

  • Wish you a GREAT NEW YEAR!

    Lots of cool natural oils.

  • Thanks to Rob Bankston, author of the Method Reports and the Youtube Marketing Course, the videos have gotten a great response. I wouldn't have known where to begin. Watch for more videos and help me get the word out, the youtube marketing course really can work for anyone, and it is helping a really great product reach a great deal of people.

    Thanks again Rob,
