I saw this bridge, even from 30,000 feet above. Flying to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Pilot mentioned about looking down to see the 'impressive Mackinac bridge'. He wasn't kidding. I crossed it many, many years ago. It was something 'then' and from almost 6 miles up - moreso.
I've invariably been afraid of height as a child.I wouldn't even be where you guys are standing with your camcorder let alone where those guys are seen walking.
@JohnsonSlanger She didnt drive off shithead! The car was blown off the bridge. This happened in the 1980's anyway and it isn't the first time it happened.
@pettyofficer30 UHHHH, i was actually commentiing on the top comments for this video. U c those couple right at the top?...u c the one that reads..."some poor lady drove off the bridge in her yugo"??? well pay better attention next time dumb shit! and im from MI i dont need ur gayass givin me a history lesson. eat shit n kill urself fag!
15 years ago me and a friend drove across that bridge in his fucking little Ugo or some shit. drove over the metal part, started sliding every time the wind blew.
@Wk4cocacola please do not bring a sack lunch as the school is providing happy meal courtsy of winn Dixie southern united states division Dallas Texas and if I like your happy meal toy u better trade me don't forget your Mickey mouse sweatshirt ur fuckingfagget as the principal said it will get cold and windyway up their in the clouds one lucky winner will get pushed from the top and hopefully that will be u dumbass
We were really fortunate to be able to go up there. We were doing a photo shoot for a magazine and we were able to get permission from the Mackinac Bridge Authority to go up there. The guys you see walking out on the cables were really nice guys and they we very patient with us even when our knees were shaking! We happened to be there the same day that Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) was there filming. We didn't get to meet his crew but we did see them filming on the other side of the bridge.
@shanquilla562 No car ferries. No direct passenger ferries from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace either. You must go to Mackinac Island and transfer to another ferry.
@ThePoopdedoop would you walk out on that strand like that? are the people that live in the UP different than the ones that don't? UP looks like it'd be more banjo music and people missing most their teeth
@shanquilla562 Sure people like blue grass country (banjo's and whatnot), hell I like it as well. It's just what some of our parents, or grandparents, or great-grandparents liked. A lotta people up here are missing a lot of teeth because of the fact that we have shitty benefits with our jobs, such as logging, mining, etc. And that's how a load of your cars are made, with the ore that is taken out of the ground here and sent to factories to be turned to steel. I <3 the UP.
@ThePoopdedoop Calm down Jethro....lol I was just thinking 'cause it's looks sorta isolated up there in the UP, that maybe down through the years, some of your relatives have inbred and spawned a commune of cretins, try brushing your teeth more, you get a boat there what, once a year? buy more tooth paste or brush your teeth with pine needles, you use pine cones for toilet paper don't you?
@shanquilla562 yes, pine needles work great. but only the fresh green ones. the dead ones break too easily. not gonna lie, i can't say that i've never heard of anyone using a pinecone as TP...which is just sad, haha. gotta watch out for them porky pines though. =P
@pohlcatace14 there have been times when they have recorded 70mph winds because they have some instruments up there and thats when they close the bridge and im sure they say a little bit its mainly the cables that move though
I get the "whillies" just watching this. I cannot count the times I have crossed the Mac and still don't really feel comfortable. I started crossing it on my Harley a few years ago and am more comfortable doing it that way than in my car. I have crossed in every kind of weather. Once coming back from hunting in Dec we were the last escorted convey allowed to cross that night. We were directly behind a semi and the wind actually pushed it up off the wheels. I could never walk the cable
Ya know what's really weird, I wouldn't be able to drive across that bridge, but I could go up on top and do what those people are doing. I honestly think it's about being able to escape from your car while driving or being in a car on the bridge that freaks me out.
Apparently you only clip one of your two safety cables at a time. So yes, he is holding the clip on the right, but the safety harness on the left is attached to the cable.
ya i was there thst nite came over the big mac 3 hrs later and she was already gone over. that night was WILD windy as hell and with the wind, small car, her speeding, she went over
She didn't drive off, she was blown off. The wind was something else that day. The bridge was swaying a bit and she was driving on the grate part of the road waywhen the wind just pushed her up and over. Poor woman.
yeah ok peepols thats cool i would never go up there even if theres a truck with a thousand million wheels about to run over me i would go up on the tower and go on the wires but no thank you//// yes but no
Too scarey for me... There is No Way I could walk down the support cables.
