  • 5:30 concerning the one way defendable area, make that corner you ran into to trigger the panic event have a breakabl wall, or something. that wouldbe cool ;)

  • Nice video, still on beta? Cause the orange walls aren't that good, anyways. It looks fun, the part where you came out the safe house fits for the L4D intro when zombies are closeing them in. If only that happend D:

  • At 5:30, the one-way defence point, you could have air vents that have a high and unclimable entrance (Possibly accessable via the roof?) that Zombies could spawn in. You could also probably add a room with a hole-in-the-ceiling that only zombies can acess, like on No Mercy at the start of the train station. ^^

  • And for that room, I mean for it to be directly behind where you were standing when you were defending the one-way corridor. ^^

    Well, the SDK Beta is out for Left 4 Dead, but how do you make a skybox?

    Not the 3D Skybox, because I wanted to make an openwide area like the beginning of your video, but I can't do it.

    Do you have to cover the map with the skybox then hollow it?

  • No, generically the term "SDK" means "Software developing kit", type SDK on Google; Because I know exactly what your going to find.

    Sure Valve might call it something else, but the generic term still stands.

  • Actually, it doesn't include the source for the game, it includes API documentation and tools to make custom campains.

    It is, however, a development kit made for the LFD game, not generically for the 'Source' engine so in this case Petchhyy is right. They're called "Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools"

  • This campaing isnt the school project, this is just a campaing im making for fun, my school project is rather lamme and simple, its a 3d recreation of one of my studing rooms in a 16 to 1 scale..., (de_rats style)

  • well, hat i can say is this: ive been maping like crazy for a school project ive got to due this 23rd, and im getting some ideas for the other maps and a lot of experience ate detail, so i hope to really speed up as soon the sdk gets release, and i will make a swear to myself here, I WILL FINISH THIS CAMPAING, NO MATTER WHAT!

  • A good idea, is to make a map of the place you live, using a familiar route, School run ext, im planning on making one where the whole of my town is open, im next to a harbour, so the escape boat will be there... idk, its just a thought. thinking about it seems pritty kewl, starting point on my house and a couple of ma friends houses.

    I have decided not to start with any mapping project until the SDK gets here. I will however scetch up some ideas ;).

  • Sadly no, unless they find a way to add custom content to the x360 plataform, if they do, i would glady convert it to be playable at console versions

  • That's cecause dev textures for hl2 are very similar to those at ME game, there even is a map for CS:S made by a fan based on the 1st level of ME.

  • Actually, there isn't a counterstrike editor, what exist, is Hammer (a multi game editor). To makes the editor create this or that gamemap is the sdk, so actually you dont even need the game to make maps for it, you just need the game sdk corresponded. But since the l4d sdk wasnt release yet, at this moment, the game is essencial to get the files needed to get the editor running on l4d format (actually just 90% of it)

  • It's really great that you aren't creating one-way defense points. Those is what ruins the original maps - even expert is super-easy except for tanks.

  • Looks very good. Although you've forget one very important thing here. Fog. Fog is very important in L4D and I strongly recommend you to add it.

  • You're absolutly right, i didnt add (at the time) it for 2 reasons, the first, it made my map get full bright and distort almost all textures, second, im trying some various types of fog colours, ive already made almost 15 compiles and i still didnt a suitable one ^^

  • Now THAT is some fancy architecture. I wish I could see this sort of quality in the stock campaigns.

  • The map is coming along well! Lots of hidey-holes for infected to attack from :D

  • Sorry for the lack of audio footage, something went wrong with the recoder audio input. And i will soon add captation to explain the rooms and ideas to crecendos and decorations
