SO racism is a part of the tennis experience for the WIlliams sisters and any good interviewer will address the TRUTH of their experience @ these tennis matches---ON/OFF court. Besides the Williams sisters continuing to play tennis, media addressing racial incidents will help 2 eliminate as the perpetrators will not feel they can get away

Serena has become a glamour girl! White supremacy on the tennis circuit is THE issue; from being called the N-word, to being insulted about their looks, to other players intentionally hitting them w/lobs or "cheating" to the Indian Wells outrage, the William sisters have paid an incredible price just to participate in the sport. Historically whites have always attributed black excellence/dominance in sport to "power" genetics, brawn rather than brains which is just another W.S. lie. Shame x10!

Remember Serena hit MJMS in Paris last year...although that did cause a whole other controversy. Serena often goes for the body, rather than the pass or lob.

@MBM91UK Who is MJMS? While it's understandable that players may be hit by an errant ball during the course of play---I've seen players get hit by a ball while playing a set---it's another thing for a player to purposely AIM a ball @ a player

b4 the playing has started. This is what Maria did to Serena; she just HIT her w/the ball on a serve. So, w/all the abuse these young women have taken I'm surprised that they just don't come out on court hitting balls @ the other players. RACISM is issue.

No she didn't. She was at the net and smashed the ball at Serena. Nobody not even Anna Kournikova had a bad enough serve to hit the player standing on the baseline. MJMS is Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain. This happened at the French Open 2008. Look up the vid coz the was a whole other controversy where MJMS pretended the ball had hit her racket.

@MBM91UK I wasn't aware that the initials MJMS stood for another Maria. The Maria I was referring 2 is Maria Sharapova(?) who intentionally hit Serena w/the ball, aiming it @her. I will look 4 the Maria Sanchez video. Again, I maintain that it's (1) thing to hit a person accidentally in the course of play and another to AIM a ball @ a player. Somethng tells me that if Serena hit someone, it wasn't on purpose but during the course of play. She just seems 2 decent 2 intentionally hit someone.

Oh she meant to hit her... her press conference after showed that. But are you saying that Masha showed racism in smashing a ball at Serena? She was being thrashed in a GS final and Serena found herself at the net, having given Maria a very high ball. Its not the first time its been done.

@MBM91UK Well I just don't see the Williams sisters as being dirty players. They've always come across as fair and gracious to opponents; even w/the US Open incident, Serena went over to congratulate/apologize to Kim Clisjters(?) b4 she left the court. So if Serena has stooped to purposely hitting opponents it's because she got this from them. In other words she LEARNED the dirty playing because this is not the Williams sisters' natural style-- they've been gracious in dealing w/adversity.

Its true that they are not dirty players, but you linked Masha hitting Serena with a smash to white supremacy... that's crazy! And Serena didn't "learn" it from everyone else, it's just that if a player is dumb enough to come into the net while letting Serena have a full swing on the ball, then why shouldn't she go for the body?? In the Wimbledon 2008 final, both serena and venus went for their own sister at the net on one occasion, rather than for a pass or lob.

And do you really think I'm dumb enough to be saying that racism is NOT an issue? Get real. I know racism exists and I believe the Williams family when they say that they were subjected to racism at Indian Wells, but I do not believe that there is or ever was any racism to be found in complementing Venus and Serena's athleticism... and both have proved that they have the brains on the tennis court

@MBM91UK WHen I watched the Maria Sharapova clip here on YouTube I saw that she did hit Serena during course of play and not intentinally as I saw w/clip on news when incident happened ahwile back. I also saw clip wheer Serena hit Maria Sanchez during course of play and apologized/went 2 check on her but Maria acted as if she hadn't been hit and did not tell judge that she not her racket had been hit. Judge-a white guy- erroneously gave set to Maria and Serena was understandably upset.

I'm not saying racial discrimination hasn't been a problem for the sisters, but too many people, you included, are seeing it where it was never to be found. And what you posted makes it sound like Serena was pissed because the umpire was white... no, she was pissed coz MJMS didn't fess up

Why is this guy looking for racism where it isn't to be found? Plenty of players are referred to as brainless ballbashers (safina/kuznetsova/stosur/kley­banova come to mind), and Venus gets it more than Serena does! This isn't a race thing! Yes, she a good athlete (as is Dementieva, Clijsters and Li!) but why would anyone suggest that by that, I am saying that she is brainless because of her race!?
