We so partied to this song. The 70's rocked...I am so glad I grew up with this music...I love all kinds of music from every era, but there is something special to me about the 70's, going to concerts and free love. Seemed to be much simpler times for sure. No longer a stoner, but do not regret when I was. A hippie at heart even at 54.
yea lynyrd skynyrd is the best sweet home alamaba is the best song they ever had so all u ppl out there who think skynyrd suck ur wrong the skynyrd spirit will 4 ever live as long as us southern boys are still kickin
I was born in the exact right time and in west Alabama, Skynyrd was revered so above other band they were in a class by themselves. On June 18 my Band Capital Steel will play an homage to the great bands of the 70/s and just guess who has more songs than anyone else Lynyrd Skynrd baby (insert rebel yell here)
From what I understand, the core of Lynyrd Skynyrd consists of Gary Rossington, Johnny Van Zant, ricky Medlock, and Micheal Carteleone(who played with Damn Yankees).
Awesome! Thanks for posting. This takes me back to 76-78 when I was a teenager in Phx Az. Nearly every weekend we would be out at a place we named cement hill on Happy Valley Rd just listening to music and getting buzzed. I think there is all houses in there now. So Gary,Mike,Don,Pinkie I love you all and still remember those wonderful years. They will stay in my heart forever. C
Why was I born into the era of Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus? The '70s had it ALL, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, ACDC, Kiss, Def Leppard...the list goes on. Music was so much better from the '60s-'80s.
@Princ3ss3mily Not all of it. Only the good music endures. If you don't believe me look up some of the worse groups (Bonzo dog doodah band springs to mind)
@Princ3ss3mily You do realize that pop sensations like Bieber and Miley Cyrus eventually fade into obscurity right? It happened to the Backstreet Queers in the early 2000s along with Britney Spears. Granted they are still around, neither are nowhere near as popular as they were when they were the faces of pop music. Miley Cyrus' popularity has already somewhat desolved, as will Bieber's in the coming years as some other young musician will come along and appeal to the female teenage masses.
@TideatMileHigh You obviously misread my comment... I am NOT in any way a fan of Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber. I simply said I think the music was better then, the music that hasn't faded. I said it was the era of people like them because IT IS. I was stating a fact.
@Princ3ss3mily I understand that you are not in anyway whatsoever a fan of them, but on every single freaking classic rock video there is always someone that rants about worthless pop sensations. My point is that you shouldn't be concerned about little wothless crap music artistis like Bieber. Pop music and rock and roll are two polar opposite types of music and IMHO rock fans shouldn't even waste their time talking about it. Cheers dude, and Skynyrd still fucking rocks!
@Princ3ss3mily yes it was; we had CSN (and sometimes Y), Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Jimi,Temptations, Stones, Allman Brothers, Yes, ELP, Joni Mitchell, Dylan, Derick and the Dominos, did I forget Steve Goodman, Miles Davis, Weather Report, Carlos Santana, Johns (MacLaughlin, Prine, Phillips, Lennon), Bob Marley... and lets not forget a little sweetheart named Ronstadt or 2 incredible voices from Baez and Collins. Oh yeah, there was a gentleman named Richie Havens. And... Rory Gallagher!

One thing very obvious is the camera men were totally in love with the Honkettes, especially JoJo. I heard an interview with JoJo one time and she said Ronnie teased her about what they did with the cameramen to get all the exposure.
Totally sad to see such a hot babe like Cassie and the way she died.
JoJo wasn't exactly a babe like Cassie, but she had a bad girl sexiness hard to describe.
What was wrong with Ronnie? Didn't he know you have to put on a big production number with dancers, video, and glitz?
Sarcasm of course......Ronnie was Stone Cold Austin of music. Nothing fancy, just stand there and sing from the heart with one of the rockest bands in history...and the Honkettes of course.
Ronnie and these guys were artists of the highest order.
@SuperDrJeckyl Wow very well said.,impressive, and totally true. That's what I love about Ronnie. He wasn't jumping all around. He just stood there, gave it his all and looked sexy while doing it.
Skynyrd was LOADED with a THREE guitar attack that blew you away ! This was about the time they added Steve Gaines full time. And with Powell, Pyle, The Mad Hatter and The Honkettes they were about to rise even higher.
Ronnie Van Zant was and always will be the real deal ! That is why he was so good onstage. An absolute true bad ass.
@pythonparker Only Ronnie, Steve Gaines & his sister Cassie Gains died in the plane crash. But all have died since except Gary Rossington, Artimus Pyle & Leslie Hawkins. Ed King, an earlier member of the band, is also still alive. Dean Kilpatrick, their Road Manager and the pilot and co-pilot also died in the crash.

whod have thought how knebworth would turn out in 30 years time from then..now muse and other great bands of nowadays times play there and its sooo different :)
Just a couple of things 1 don't know if true or not Skynyrd startied out opening for the WHO after they were signed I do know they open for the Who(I'm not a fan of the WHO) The Who went to managment and refuse to tour with them anymore after 3 shows said they were to good and to hard to follow. 2 How of you have liked to be the parents of Steve & cassie losing both children on the same day.
may god always be with them kids parents always i hate it so bad also i am a fan there in my heart and love and prayers i wish u all was with us still but god has u in HIS HANDS I KNOW THIS GOD BLESS YOU ALL THANKS FOR POSTING
@1960dvf I have to see this verified somehow. I love this band. i love the Who. The Who ran from NOBODY live back then before Moon's death--ubeatable live till 1976 when Moon's health began declining. Just sayin......
Steve and Cassie Gaines from Miami, Oklahoma. Same town that produced Heisman winner Steve Owens and his All-American WR brother Tinker. Towns about the size of a postage stamp. If you drove through it and spat, you'd probably miss it. Town I live in is five times as big and has produced jack and squat. Go figure.
when u didnt have to perfect music with sound board. this is live and it sounds as good or better then album. name a band, just one that can do that today?
Sometimes, the soundboard is not the best source for audio. As far as bootlegs go. It gets a lot of hype, but in many cases it does not represent the true sound as heard live.
Oh lord, Do I Miss These Times ! Such a fantastic song & Vid ! Thankyou soo much for posting....Anita <3

@1960dvf I have to see this verified somehow. I love this band. i love the Who. The Who ran from NOBODY live back then before Moon's death--ubeatable live till 1976 when Moon's health began declining. Just sayin......

Thanks for the stereo version!! That one channel version just wasn't hacking it.
If this doesn't capture the flavor of the song, what ever will?

I remember the plane crash. It was a shock. We lost a little more of our innocence that day.

Go figure.

@Steven5quier
Sometimes, the soundboard is not the best source for audio. As far as bootlegs go. It gets a lot of hype, but in many cases it does not represent the true sound as heard live.
