  • hi there :D so... im starting on cd's ....anyone could tell me how many songs do you burn in your cd's?

  • "It's the person inside." Good words man, I enjoy watching your videos.

  • to become a good dj you should start on vynil, thats what iv always been told. cos u cn learn how to beatmatch and que without a machine doing it for you!

  • I think in a couple of years, more and more Digital midi players will be used with traktor etc.

  • those are really wack though

  • :*(

  • buck up get a starter kit that be wut im doing

  • anyone seen those unbranded ones for 99 on htfr? look exactly like the kam ones but unbranded..

  • how much is Dj equpment? I want to try being a dj b/c 1)techno is AWSOME! 2)not good with insterments like flutes and gautars 3)Me and my friends are makeing a band and they want me to become a dj. so how much for equment?

  • my son who is 12 is a club DJ and uses for mobile raves twin citronic cdm 10:4 dj decks

  • thats what im talking about, a true dj who can perform on any type of equipment and shine!

  • I've got a numark cdn 36 twin deck, my 1st gear. I've outgrown it. There is so much I want to do on an upgraded system. These twin decks really help u improve as a DJ.

  • that's what i use to mix my music it really works for me but i do it with the cd and one of my turnrables

  • HAHA the speakers are pointing exactly in the opposite direction away from us lol, I always thought it was a nightmare to mix on those cdjs as their so small to handle, nice vid.

  • Excellent point made.

  • whats the tracks

  • Although you can mix with twin cd players

isn't it much more difficult to mix/learn to mix with them instead of perhaps a pair of good cdjs/turntables?

  • it doesn't matter if it's vinyl or plastic, a ton weighs a ton:-D

Sorry whiteblitz, don't get me wrong, just abit of fun, of course I know what you're talkin bout... I'd still prefer vinyl: I want to have direct contact,u know... i h8 using knobs or jogs instead of spinning them platters... Peace

  • i do own a stanton c501, it plays mp3 and regular cd. yeah its a bit different mixing compared to vinyls. but when playing out on a gig its better coz i can bring a ton of choons with me, rather than bring a ton of crates for the records.

  • YUM

  • too true! the first time i played out was after a year's worth of mixing on some Gemini XL500 MkII's... the torque on them was so low, not to mention the flutter!

DJing on lower-grade kit definitely makes you a better DJ in the long-run I reckon, especially when you eventually move up to better kit

  • I can only mix on CD, never got the hang of records, I guess because CD is kind of more responsive and easier to cue the beat.

  • Nope, it's easier to cue with vinyl or touch-jog/platter CDJ.

  • lol yea u just put the needle where u want it, then find the sound. he's probably talking about beatmatching

  • Agree and disagree with ya there m8, i think vinyl is more responsive the minute you hit the groove walla sound! on cdjs you have to wait a while for the cdj to read the disc then ya have to set your cue point, cdjs are still amazing though they make dj'ing alot easier, once you have 2 cds beatmatched they stay in beat and there dam all fine tuning involved, with vinyl you have to be very carefull!!

  • long live vynil :)

  • it sounds fantastic however it can be quite pricey

  • Just like my cheap gemini cdm500 cdplayer/mixer combo, it makes you wanna stay away from cds, since its harder to mix with. So I just stick to good ol vinyl:), One thing though, people spend $700 (x2 $1400) for a djcd player and complain that vinyl is more expensive than cds. LOL

  • yaya. although not impossible to mix on these, i mean by all means, yea it is possible, BUT... u can't deny that it's much more of a pleasure making mixes with say CDJ1000's. so much more is possible on something like that.

but it's more up to skill than equipment. great vid

  • It's ok to mix with GOOD twin-deck (like old Denon). Some table-tops (like Stanton) are crap compared to GOOD twin CD players. Long, long time ago twin decks were industry standard =)

  • i'm glad it's so long ago :D

  • Amen Johnathon!!

I used an old Denon 2000f for years as a club DJ back in the 90's!

The technical part of mixing will wow a few folks, and IMO makes about 40% of what a good DJ is - the other 60% cant be taught - Its the music selection and reading your crowd! Get your set list right for the night and flawless mixing takes a distant back seat!

  • Wow jonathan :D Great mix there mate! And you're right: It's not about the gear, it's about the artist.. this goes for almost everything in music.. guitars, drums etc. Okay, you MIGHT be able to do it better on more expensive gear, but it's all about the basics i guess :) 5/5 mate

  • It is also important to make sure your dual cd player has "instant start".

  • Good point.

  • Heh you can watch few of my older videos too to see mixing with twin cd player. Practicing with that and enjoying. When you change to better gear it's like childs play after that heh. It's hard with those but doable. Great vid.
