I understand nervousness and this is an unfair generalization, but every horse I've ever seen ridden in person that was trained English still bucks. It's like they're never trained out of fits. And why in the world wouldn't you want a show jumper to behave and trust you?
i know people are going to mark this as spam, but i really want to be doing that. im turning 12 this year and ive been riding since i was 4. i love jumping and i am dedicated. im riding advanced horses at my stable and im currently doing a 9 week jumping course. i want to become the youngest rider to ever enter the Grand Prix and World Cup showjumping (':
@MissWatermelonSundae You understand most off these horses are on pretty strong steroids? Its not a fantasy land and it takes years and years to jump 7 feet. But i support ya so go for it!
i like the black horse..and the other brown horse....this brown horse is like a horse in our horse club but this horse in our horse club its very strong and its bucking and shes scared of all :DD and i must ride her now when i go there
@SkippysCopperTop But only 1 horse jumped it without breaking the wall, the other ones just can't jump that high! and do you have a idea what happen if the horse falls? he breaks his legs or worst, his neck!!
@SkippysCopperTop It's not as simple as that. the horses are forced to do this - you CAN make a horse do stuff he doesn't wnat to do. It's called "read and intimdiation" and it works really well. They put little nails inside the boots on the front legs so that when the horse jumps he gets "stabbed" if he doesn't jump high enough. There are lots of things we cando to make the horses do what we want. I've done. I'm ashamed to admit it. Never again will I do that crap..
Well dang, I'd be scared of that fucking wall let alone have my horse jump it. Hot dang. What power for them to make such a leap to begin with WHILE carting their rider on top of that. Shoot. Anyway nice vid.
The horses have to have an unbelievable amount of trust in its rider, to leap of such a wall, that they have no idea what is on the other side... You gotta <3 them
To all horse riders competeing in showjumping - NEVER ride your horse slow if you want to win!!!!!!! take a risk and ride it hard you may knock a few down, but your speed will replace the penalties.
please, they just need to do stretching properly, double poles, whatever, horses will do what they want and what they want us to do, they obviously don't jump those heights as a regular training aid, but when the time comes they will jump, just make sure they can stretch, common sense
@realvampire98 Yes, that is what they are trained to do, but it's not hurting them in any way. Most horses have a love for it naturally just like how race horses have a heart that loves to run. It's just the spirite of horses it's so unique.
@realvampire98 not at all. those horses most likely enjoy it. You can even see the white one has so much excitement he can't hold it in (the bucks). Horses love having jobs. These horses obviously love jumping high so puissance became their job. the owners obviously appreciate them, they pat them and appreciate them even when they knocked a wall piece down.
@realvampire98 I don't think they practice jumping that high all the time. They probably just do "smaller" (god knows what their small is) fences and a lot of flat work to prepare. To train, they don't need to always jump as high as possible but rather work on getting their impulsion and momentum in the hind end where they take off from. I'm not sure, but I don't believe these horses jump high like this every training session probably just once and a while.
@Horses3456782 could see why you think that, but if they went steadier they would be more bouncy and have more momentum to get over the height of the jump :P also it would be easier for them to find a good stride :) good idea though!
@rosy48842 OMG I thought the exact same thing, with the way he was jumping the other jumps I would have bet big money that he would have cleared it. LOL
This horses have been trained almost their whole lives for this, so even though, yes, it will always pose a risk the showjumping world has taken every possibly precaution to enjoy the sport they all love, as well as the horses. Every last rider wears a helmet, and horses have to qualify to be able to compete in a show like this.
@LifeLoveEquine watch?v=CYAX5pGQJqg yes, it is. c-r-u-e-l-t-y. language is german, but the pictures explain, that puissance is painful for the horse.. think about it!
@QtipAppaloosa Yes Im sure. Graying is not always affected by age, its affected by how much 'gray' is in its genes. If both parents were grey he horse may gray out completely by a quite young age.
@Shettyfaan Cruelty to animals? These horses are treated entirely better than you think. Believe me, I used to work for the barn my horse came out of, and every day before and after a ride like this, he got the best frickin full body rub down you could ask for. Xrays, scans, everything. Believe me, these horses are not treated cruelly one bit.
I was there watching this one! :) It was eventful.
I must say the thing about Ellen Whitaker's horse is she dosn't want to do it, she shows us she's the boss, but just before the jump a few strides before she gets her act together and pulls of a spectacular performance, she bought all of us to complete breathless moments.
Micheal Whitaker's horse is just to nervous, you can see it in his step... he's just too nervous and he just can't bring himself to get into the jump.
