  • Thanks for the vid bro, it's very helpful. I recently acquired a 1970's production 92FS Police Special NIB. It came with two mags but I would like to purchase additional mags and I liked your demonstration of the mec-gar product. But I wanted to know which finish you are using... The blue or phosphate? Thanks.

  • Thank-you for the video. What would you say the actual frame/slide life is of the 92FS aluminum alloy frame pistol? I keep hearing 35k rounds and that the aluminum doesn't hold up. Tips for keeping these guns and frames past 100k? Lubricate the hell out of the slide rails? Spring replacements?

  • @mr00jimbo

35K is is pretty short life! I haven't had any of them break that soon.

I would use a grease lubricant (I prefer "slide glide") instead of oil. You can really tell a difference when shooting that gun that it is much softening it up. Changing spring weights to something lighter would shorten the life of the gun I would think. Really, these guns should last 100k.. I have one that is over that now and hasn't had any issues.

  • @Elbeno007 I was told by the person who did the transfer job on My first 92fs in standard black to take it easy for the first session or two and not to exceeed 100-150 rounds for the "break in", funny thing I bought a case of federal 1,000 rounds + about 250 rounds in seperate 50rd boxes and fired it all in the span of 3 weeks, after the 1250 round mark I went to a range that allowed rapid fire, without cleaning, or lubing at all and went through 100 rounds rapid, not a hiccup.

  • do you conceal carry berettas also?

  • But.... But... But, only glocks can do that?!? LOL, glockaphyles! I love my 92, it just needs moar ammo!

  • Great vid, I enjoyed hearing about your pistols. I just picked up a 92G Elite II yesterday at my local Cabelas. I already have a 92fs and it has been flawless. I've been wanting an Elite II for a while but like you said, they are getting pretty hard to find nowadays. I just couldn't pass it up so I had to buy it. There's a couple of pin-sized spots on the frame where the Alu is showing through the bruniton, but the internals have little wear and are like new. I paid $560 did I do well?

  • Thanks a lot for the vid! great insight on the model 92...

  • Love my PX4 Subbie. Carry it daily.

  • Awesome! Thanks for the video!

  • Very interesting video. I love hearing about and seeing high round count firearms.

  • Ben, It's about time you did a few POV videos, how to's, and faq's. Very helpful.

Thanks much and keep them coming.

  • have you had much use with the PX4?

    Thanks 4 the vid

  • Sorry man... I haven't shot the Px4 near as much as the 92... but I don't see why it wouldnt work out well.

  • Great video.

According to the Beretta haters, your locking block with spontaneously explode, and your frame will crack.

  • According to the most recent USPSA rulebook, side-to-side magwell flaring may be up to 1/4" bigger than the size of the magazine and front-to-back may be more than 1/4" bigger.

I don't know about the IDPA rules though.

  • Yeah sorry about that.. I meant 1/8th inch on each side of the mag... for a total of 1/4 inch

  • Reloads are running like 3 cents a primer. A bit over a penny for powder and then the bullet Maybe a dime a crack?

For USPSA you can smooth out the Mag well with sand paper as long as the opening isnt wider than 1/8th of an inch bigger than the magazine. For IDPA SSP or IPSC production I wouldnt use sandpaper.

  • Ben,

With your own reloads, how much does it cost you per K. Also, for production I use a M&P. I have done a lot of reload training so where the mag first goes in the gun it is very rough. Could I use sand paper to smooth out the polymer and still comply with Production/ESP rules?
