Another thing, with the baldy, I assume Derren is doing something with his eyes to make the other man uncomfortable. Like when you see someone crying, or see them tear up, you begin to tear up as well. Basically, Derren is manipulating the empathic response of his victims as well sa the flight or fight response.

Try it yourself. In a staring competition, stare at your adversary intensely, but not creepily. Try different stares, like tilting your head forward and looking up at them or try the opposite: tilting up and looking down at them. It's all about making them feel uncomfortable and intimidated. Certain body postures and slight movements can indicate on a subliminal level to the victim that you threatening them or about to harm them. It's about stimulating the fight or flight response in your favor.

All of Darren Brown's videos have the title "How to (blank)", But none of the videos explain how to do anything at all. It just makes me think that he is using camera tricks and actors to accomplish these feats. Maybe not all the time, but most.

@Talendiem Oh come on. This uploader takes clips from various Derren Brown shows and puts "how to" in the title to appeal to those interested in his techniques. He does explain some of his tricks, but those are mostly based on well-placed guessing, cold reading and his own memory. And I honestly can't see the link between the unfulfilled promise (not showing you how to do the tricks) and actors/camera tricks.

the trick is you gotta get the people to believe something is gonna happen to make them blink. Make them believe that you are some type of psychic. During the competition they typically start to worry about what it is you are trying to do to them to get them to blink. The more they think about it the stronger the urge they get to blink. Think about it this way. If give someone a fake pill that looks like Tylenol, odds are they will think that the pill helped.

There is a reason they don't show his face and the camera keeps moving. Certain facial expression and body posture/movement can send subliminal messages. They perceived it in their own way, but the main way usually is seeing it as intimidation or a challenge. Thats why the younger lad felt sick and wanted to stop, while the larger bloke stood his ground longer and had the urge to hit him. It shows what kind of people they are when threatened.

This is called a "pattern interrupt", and the techinque is a milton erickson handshake induction. He is literally putting him into a hypnotic trance without his knowledge or consent.
