Hey man - looks pretty good, but I couldn't read your fps, what frame rates are you getting?
I'm getting ready to build a computer for a home sim-pit i'm building so it will be running fsx exclusively. And actually my computer right now is almost identical to yours so I'm curious.
@mormon97 i get about 20-30 in low populated areas like in the video. but if you want to play fsx seriously, i would suggest a computer with better specs than mine. i play fs2004 far more because it runs absolutely perfect with all the addons i have, fsx is more for vfr cessna flying and stuff.
@fijnzijn this is true, but with 500 dollars now instead of 2 years ago, you could probably build a computer that will play it with a few addons and run better than mine does on ultra in similar situations as this video
hahahahahhh..you used the air creation thing,,try installing a payware scenery, pmdg 747 , gex, rex and stuff and add some clouds..then record a video and you will see what happens..10fps
@sammoss147 i'd say it won't run nearly as good as mine runs. it would be just barely playable, the main reason it won't be very good is your cpu. only single core, and its like 4 or 5 years old. ddr1 ram is not very fast. i'd be surprised if it even ran at all to be honest.
@codyl1992 the cpu shouldn't really be a problem, if you (sammos147) get a GeForce 8800 ultra or higher and upgrade your RAM, your cpu will probably handle FSX on medium settings. I agree, however, that add-ons would be a problem.
@sammoss147 to be honest i doubt it will run very well, if it even runs at all. your cpu is a 4 or 5 year old single core, the ram is not even ddr2. the video card is only about 1/3rd the power of mine.
@codyl1992 i have half the ram half the video memory and less clock rate then the guy you replied to, and i can run it. with 20 frames on lowest settings though :(
@sammoss147 it will your processor is good mine is only 2.2 and my graphics card is 9800GT and 2GB RAM i run on Very High settings not full i lag little though in big cities but not much.
@sammoss147 i highly doubt it'l run very well, you might be able to get very low maybe low med setting but nothing very good, i know because i used to have a P4 overclocked to 3.4GHz and it still couldn't run fsx very well at all, mostly because the P4's are very old single core cpu's, they just can't handle games as heavy as fsx.
The cost of the computer doesn't really matter ($500 is cheap btw). I have an $800 HP Pavillion, Win 7 Ultimate. Okay specs and i run FSX at its highest possibilities and it runs fine. I don't know about anyone else, but that's how it runs for me.
it would run better than on mine, fsx is really cpu dependant. just make sure you either get acceleration (it installs all the service packs) or install them with original fsx. if i were you, i'd get a 9800 or even a 2xx series now, i got my 8600 over a year ago when that was a more popular card.
@codyl1992 Hey can you explain what computer dependant means? Like what things are the most important to get consistent high frames and graphics on fsx?
GT240 Q9200 64bit 4gb ram 500gb space. Direct x 9.oc. But from now fsx is on a external hard rive because it took up so much space lol it started to lag eventually. I got mine from PC World and its a pakard bell it can play most games like Need for speed and sim city lol. Cya later man.
Naw...it's feasable to build a decent system between $500-700 depending on the parts-
He could have done better with the motherboard though.... a Gigabyte G31M?...yuck! shoulda went with ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo -Overclocking is much easier :-)
LOL seriously, im running on duo core 3.10ghz and 4gb of ram and a 4850, and i usually get over 30fps, you should tweak your settings, most of mine are on ultra high but if you put the water and light bloom on the highest it will eat your frame rates.
yeah i agree, this machine i'm on cost me about 200 uk pounds. probably more if u take into account that my motherboard fried a few weeks back.... but i can run some good stuff too....
i have a custom built laptop and i can run ieverything on ultra high but its a bit laggy but i have nearly everything on high but two or three things on ultra high so its quite good the laptop is worth aroung 2000 euros
I have a custom built computer 700us dollars and i cannot perform fsx to this graphics specs cause it explodes. I have Pentium D 945 3,4GHZ 3GB 888 Kingston, XFX 9600GT XXX 512MB ASUS P5K Motherboard.
press alt then search in the titles on top, one of them has record flight, something like that, easy to find it, if u want fraps just type fraps in utube i got a full free version download
That was stupid of you to buy a pentium d. that processor is REALLY old. You should have gotten at least a quad core processor because FSX runs mainly on processor and ram.
What I recomend are custom built computers. You can also install FSX/FS9 on a external HDD and increase your memory. That is what my cousin did and his Framerates went up to 250.
..which would be better for me?? FS2004 or FS09??.. cause like i said.. my PC is a macbook with windows XP in it.. any suggestion??? FS2004 or FS09?? tnx
its your pentium d its not a very good cpu for this game you need a newer chip. or how much ram do you have, if you have only 1gb or less you will have problems.
of RAM and went from a nVidia Geforce 2 -MX to a e-GeForce 6200 to a current Radeon Sapphire HD 3850 512MB -
GDDR3!!! Soo now I got 1 GB of ram (upgraded) and the new graphics card! Everything is a dream computer, no fancy lights not many fans just 2 2.0 ghz CPU
I payed $679 for a gateway dx and i must say its probably the wisest choice, heres my specs (i get 20fps with everything set to high even in the most dense cities, Chicago, Philly, New York):
u fucking kiddin me? holy shit my computer is a piece of crap and i paid almost the same price $1,200 on mine and it cant even play this micro soft flight simulator on low graphics :/
I want the q9650 and not overclock it because I plan to be on air. I just want to keep it stock and also this will be my first build. 1gig is usually a good g card though. It is a 9600Gt which is pretty good. And the PSU is just some PSU nothing special. I may agree with you on the motherboard but not to sure about it. I am right now at 1680X1050 but plan on getting a bigger screen to handle a higher resolution.
heres what i recomend: CoolerMaster Dominator 690 Black DVDRW Samsung SH-S223F 22x SATA Black bulk PSU Corsair CMPSU 650W TX Series Motherboard Asus Skt775 - P5Q3 Deluxe/Wifi-AP iP45 Pack 2x 2048Mb DDR3 GSkill PC3-10666 (1333) CL9 NQ Processador Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz Sk775 6Mb FSB1333 Box Sapphire ATI Radeon PCI-E HD4870 1Gb GDDR5 its on budget and a very good computer ;) no need to buy a 8500 0.16 mhz of difference... you wont even notice it if you want same frequency OC on it
Even though it is .16Ghz not mhz but ghz the processor is better even if it was clocked the same as the 8400. Also, this is my first build and if it ain't the greatest then who gives a fuck because I can always exchange parts and rebuild.
Ok you are getting on my fucking nerves. You know why I don't with ATI or AMD because they are shit!!! I have a 3870 not and I Have had the most trouble with it. I am about to go crazy over this fucking card and through it out the window and put in my 7300Le(more realiable) Yes 128mb of vram and less software problems. THIS FUCKING 3870 sucks hard.
My old pc used to run it pretty well but i just upgraded so i can't wait to test it! Core I7 3.4ghz, 8gb ddr3 1333mhz ram with radeon 5770.
My old PC in Kai Tak or St Maarten with the flytampa addons i would only get about 25fps.

what type of graphics card do you have, if you have anything much worse than mine, you won't be able to run it at high settings like mine.

burberrybedroom 2 years ago
its your pentium d its not a very good cpu for this game you need a newer chip. or how much ram do you have, if you have only 1gb or less you will have problems.
codyl1992 2 years ago

drifter1995 3 years ago
That's about how much I spent on my PC, $1,300, but I'm waiting on about $300 dollars worth of parts to come in, new drives, case, and ram.
2.4 gz Qaud Core
8gb Corsair memory
Asus PSQL Pro Motherboard
Rosewill 600w power supply
500gb Western Digital hard driver
9800 GTX 2 Nvidia
+ my sound card, 20inch wide screen, and 5.1 Logitech surround sound system.
More to come, possible water cooling.

Microsoft is terrible for releasing FSX. They didn't think of the common consumer and thought of those few who were crazy rich.
choidj 3 years ago
For a start - Pirate it. Secondly, if you cant aford a gaming pc... Well... I'm 13 and I can.
IkePwnzU 3 years ago
no, YOU cant. your parents can

No, I, yes, I am paying for it through money I have earned by WORKING. Yes, working. Paper rounds, and such.

I am looking at building a computer. I looked at some parts and I am looking at about 1000$
Intel Q9650
9600GT 1gb
650WPSU
nForce 750i
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
that psu is over kill. Get around a 500w then buy a better gpu
idr0pu 3 years ago
Well the 9800 Requires maybe even the 9600 requires 600W. I was originally going to get a 750.
The funniest thing is the processor is 560$ which is more than everything else added together.
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
really bad investment
nivrin13 3 years ago
How?
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
a Q9650?
why dont you get a Q9450 and do a OC on it...
you will save a lot more money and get a decent graphics card...
just because it says that its 1GB it doesnt mean that its good...
and what psu are you talkin about? what brand?
and dont invest in a nforce motherboard... its money on garbage... get a Asus or a gigabyte
nivrin13 3 years ago
I want the q9650 and not overclock it because I plan to be on air. I just want to keep it stock and also this will be my first build. 1gig is usually a good g card though. It is a 9600Gt which is pretty good. And the PSU is just some PSU nothing special. I may agree with you on the motherboard but not to sure about it. I am right now at 1680X1050 but plan on getting a bigger screen to handle a higher resolution.
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
ok you got a point on Q9650 (get Q9550)
trust me... 9600GT is not a that great graphic card just because its 1GB
ATI has much more better image quality and does the same or better with the same money
PSU nothing special?
man a psu its the most important component...
you really need to make a smart investment on aquality psu cuz if theres a electricity pike on a shitty psu... so long pc
get one of this:
pc power, corsair, be quiet, seasonic or coolmaster.
nivrin13 3 years ago
I am rethinking my purchase here. I want to be as cheap as I can get but still be worth the money. I may go with the E8500
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
what do you want the pc for?
gaming?
and the budget is 1000€ or dollars?
nivrin13 3 years ago
dollars. my budget is nothing over 1500 and I am going to try stay under 1200. If I can get it to 1000 that would be nice.
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
Gaming and surfin the web. Basically multimedia.
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
nivrin13 3 years ago
Even though it is .16Ghz not mhz but ghz the processor is better even if it was clocked the same as the 8400. Also, this is my first build and if it ain't the greatest then who gives a fuck because I can always exchange parts and rebuild.
Sunbeam transformer ATX Full Tower
Asus P5Q3 LGA 775 Intel ATX
Silverstone ST70F 700W ATX
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
Corsair 4G 2x2Gb 240pin DDR3 1600
EVGA 9800GTX 1Gb GDDR3 PCI-E 2.0x16
Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB
ASUS Black SATA
all for 1000
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
why getting a 9800GTX 1GB?
that card competes with hd4850...
how about you save some money on the case and buy a antec twelve hundred?
get a gtx260 55nm 896 maxcore or a hd4870 1GB
that 9800GTX is a waste of money and competes with a hd4850... that for it self nowadays wont do much
nivrin13 3 years ago
Ok you are getting on my fucking nerves. You know why I don't with ATI or AMD because they are shit!!! I have a 3870 not and I Have had the most trouble with it. I am about to go crazy over this fucking card and through it out the window and put in my 7300Le(more realiable) Yes 128mb of vram and less software problems. THIS FUCKING 3870 sucks hard.
