The film takes place 15 years before the first X-men movie around 1978, three Mile Island, ect.. It was Wolerines Origins, and a good action movie. The other X-Men movies were mostly Superhero movies. I've said it before on your bashing of Watchmen, if you don't like a movie, then don't see it. Or wait for the Directors Cut, like they did on Watchmen. Excellent movie.

The problem is the movie was supposed to be about WOLVERINE(hence the title), not all these other characters. While these are really cool characters they needed to focus on WOLVERINE. They shouldnt've brought in random characters like deadpool and gambit. The other movies(even the third one) were way more mature than this. This movie was like batman and robin, it wasnt made to be smart or intelligent, it was just made to sell toys, make sequels, be cheesey, be comedic, and ruin a franchise.

actually, they did focus on wolverine more compared to the other characters. thats why some fans thought gambit, blob etc only had a very limited screen time. thus, they didnt have any character development.

you said it yourself, the movie is about wolverine. its not about gambits origin, its not about wolverine and blobs origin, its about wolverines origin.

and no, its not meant to be smart. its made to be flashy and full of action. its the complete opposite of superman returns.

True about Deadpool, he was a part of the story, but all those other characters were really unneccasary, especially Cyclops, since "X men: First Class" is in production, and that movie's gonna focus on the teen years of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm etc and the birth of the X men.

The best X-Men action scene ever for me is X 1: Toad vs. Cyclops, Toad vs. Jean. Magneto vs. the bunch of police. In X 2, its Pyro vs. police outside Iceman's house. I like the dialogue which goes something like...."you've seen the X Men, here's is the worst one."

These is the mose honest review I've seen. Agreed Wolverine is total crap and there's one person to blame. Cock sucker fucking Aussie Hugh Jackman. He seems to believed that X-Men is just about him! The lack of an R rating doesn't mean shit. It's the lack of a decent story, and the crappy let's throw everything in we can. Just because an R rated character is R, doesn't mean it's any better. Look a the Punisher, which is 0-3 as far as having a good R rated movie.

Wolverine's potential as the greatest superhero put to film has been destroyed. Jackman, while a very good actor, shouldn't have been Wolverine--simply too tall. He was miscast from the start. I love how in this new movie, they try to play off Jackman as short when he encounters a ridiculously tall guy who talks shit about his height (an almost 6 ft tall Wolverine...yeah whatever). This is not to mention how all the other characters were throwaway as well. NOT WORTH WATCHING. Read the comic.

Honestly, I see reviews for all these comic book movies that came out in the last year or two and I firmly believe that you comic book fans are way too picky and bias because you can't accept minor changes. Yes, some are unnecessary but, for the most part, the movies range from decent to great. I haven't yet seen a truly bad comic book film accept for the first HULK. Wolverine was great and people seriously, no matter what the movie may be or what your expectations are, go in with an open mind.

Total lack of screen time for Gambit and Deadpool, with too much emotional relationship fat that really could have been trimmed back. They already did a great job of explaining Wolverine's origins in X2. Now they made another movie that devotes its enirety to explaining his orgins, without bothering to have any continuity between how the same scene in X2 looked in this moview. Embarassing.

Adamantium bullets, wolverines claws in the mirror, ma & pa kent, sewing up Deadpools mouth, the list of fuckups goes on. The only two good things where Lievs Schiebers performance and the opening war sequence.

nope i dug x3. if you follow the comics then your already familar with the characters so it doesn't matter who they throw in there. however, if your just seeing the movie on it's own i could see how a bunch of characters popping up could be a problem. And yes, there were some cheesy jokes thrown in there but that's inherent in any big summer blockbuster. but if you want to loathe x3 that's your opinion. lots of people feel that way.

I do follow the comics. It wasn't the issue of a "bunch of characters popping up," it was that none of them were fully explained or given any background whatsoever. And if that makes me angry, I can't imagine how someone who knows nothing about x-men would feel.

I don't feel that, after movies like Iron Man and Dark Knight, there's any excuse for making a superhero movie as bad as this. The same could be said for the piece of trash X3 following the exquisite and excellently written X2.

Just saw the midnight showing. Hardcore X-men movie fans should not waste their time- this movie is absolute garbage. Only idiots who don't care about solid plots, heart and good dialogue and just want to see stuff blow up should see this movie. The critics need to quit praising Hugh Jackman for his performance and start blaming him for his poor production (he had a lot of say in the making of this movie). 20th Century Fox is the worst and Gavin Hood makes Brett Ratner look like Bryan Singer.

What I want to know is "what happened?" This is going to go down in history as one of the worst comic book movies of all time. I thought we had the bar raised for these movies. Wolverine is such a cherished charecter, 20th Century Fox completely raped him of all his dignity. I still blame the director even though I know Fox has a history of this. If we ever get a true director's cut that far exceeds the final product then I'll let Gavin Hood off the hook. There has to be an explanation for this.

CGI (contrary to what everyone else says) was both good and bad. Bad is something along the lines of home effects--wolverine's claws in the scene with the mirror were so horribly fake looking i-...i don't know

The biggest problem was that characters were not there long enough. Not only did we not get told their powers, characters like wade wilson are only seen...
