Are you really that clueless? I hope you realize that all you did was delete and replace some unnecessary "M$" programs and replaced them with some open source / shareware ones. Windows, the operating system, is made by "Micro$oft", thus to "remove the Micro$oft" from Windows is a logical impossibility. It doesn't matter how much you dress it up, it will still be Windows and still have "Micro$oft" in it.

I'm sorry, but even deleting those, microsoft is in the system32 folder. If you delete that, windows will not run, so there is never such thing as a microsoft computer when it's made by microsoft.

I'm a uBuntu, Solaris, Mac OS, and Windows pro. I'm not sure I understand why to remove the now optional Windows branding products. Yes they used to be permanent parts of the OS, and due to various lawsuits, they can now be removed. They do have their good points. I've never set up a meeting with Thunderbird, nor successfully loaded VBS driven sites with Firefox. Maxthon and others still require IE to be installed for VBS pages. I can understand, if you are just sick of Windows or Microsoft.

surprisingly, i never thought to do this. even though he's swapping MS files with other stuff, there are times when IE will open pages or info that FF won't do properly. that is the ONLY reason i still have it.

for example, my wife edits her myspaace page in FF but tests the results in IE simply because FF wont allow her to check her settings while its running. that's a lot better than shutting off the browser every time to check a minor update.

but do what you gotta do to enjoy your PC!!!
