I saw this movie on new years eve . im 13 and me and my bestfriend saw it at about 11 pm .

Ive seen more horror movies than i can count . all the way from halloween (1979) to the grudge 3 . and btw insidious is so stupid its not even scary . .

This is probably the creepiest / scariest movie i have ever seen . this and the blair witch project .

it may have been slow paced but thats the point . they didnt wanna make it like a slasher flic .

It was a bit of a letdown because it was very slow paced, some scenes were just pointless and it's WAY TO QUIET!!! I wish The Strangers would actually kill someone! It's supposed to be a light modern Slasher Movie!

my friends and i watched the first half of this movie at three a.m. in a huge house with tons of windows,that made a ton of noise.all of my friends fell asleep with in the first 5 minutes,and i was just laying there,scared shitless.hahahahah

but the next morning,when it was bright out,we all watched it together and it wasnt scary,,,,,at all....

so i guess it depends on the setting.

I found this to be a good film because its based on something that could really happen. Alot of horror films are based around monsters, zombies, and vampires. Folks killing people they never met, is real life and is as scary as it comes.

i'm so glad this movie didn't turn out to be another torture porn movie. it was very suspenseful and didn't rely on lots of blood and gore for shock value. i personally liked this movie alot and thought it was one of the best low key movies of 2008. it was not a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, but still very disturbing and enjoyable at the same time.

I totally agree with you! I am an AVID Horror film fan and I like many sub-genres, but I have grown "bored" of the torture porn and I loathe the Japenese-themed/ YAWN FESTS like "The Grudge." Lol...This film was so effective in that it built so much tension and fear.  I admire the simplicity and I feel that Liv did such a GREAT job! =)

I read an interview with the director and it's based on a couple real events. One actually happened to the director when he was young and someone came to the door late and asked for someone who didn't live there, but the next morning they found out a neighbor's house had been broken into. This isn't The Exorcist but it was fun to watch. I liked it and might even buy it for a rainy day viewing. "Because you were home" is a creepy thing to say. :) I liked that it didn't end in a scooby Doo ending where everything was ok. Stuff happends. Enjoy.
