@sodoomia I used whichever ones contained the notes I wanted:) Sorry, I'm not a formally trained musician. I couldn't tell you a Dorian from a Mixolydian.
@sodoomia It's basically in A minor. The opening chord is a Dm7, then an E7 on the 7th fret (add the G on the B string), then finally a regular A minor barred at the 5th fret.
ops...you told the settings at the beginning..by the way I found that these pickups should be the kinman blues. I've heard a lot of samples and I think that these p.u. are the fatter sounding of the entire kinman catalogue, despite of what people says about the others, like the woodstocks that are supposed to be the more warmer sounding...what do you think about that??
Which kind of pickups do you use? they're awesome sounding...they got deepness and brightness at the same time..and a sweet rounded overdriven sound. Just Wonderful. tell me also your settings and all (thank you ;))
I don't know if Zion offers different neck profiles at all. All i know is that they feel very nice in the hand. By only beef with this guitar is that the nut width is slightly narrower than I'd prefer. I like the 1 11/16, and this is 1 5/8. The radius is 12", which is flatter than a std Fender, but it feels OK once you adjust to it. Zions are designed for really low action, so the 12" radius is part of how you do that without fretting out.
I believe the Kinman site mistakenly lists this as a clip played with a reissue '62 Strat. In fact, it is a Zion Bent T guitar made in 1996, fitted with Kinman AVN-Blues pickups. I'll have to email Chris to let him know. It's an easy mistake as the reference to Kassad's clips with his '62RI can be misunderstood.--DG
Sounds vurry nice. Big Santana influence?

Thanks for letting me know. I'll check out the JamMan.
frogslips 1 year ago
What pedal did you use to capture the rhythm section? I could spend a lot of time with a device like that.
frogslips 1 year ago
@frogslips -- It's a Line 6 DL4 modeler. It only has 14 seconds, so it's not very useful. Much better off with a JamMan or some such.

These are the kinman blues right?

@BluesRockGuitarist Yes they are those models, ca 2001

@diminishedlogic -- It's all that it's hyped to be. Worth every penny, and pure magical in tone.--JMO

Hi,
Great tone... what,s the first pedal on the solo the 2nd one was a FD2?
Thanks
blueswrecker 3 years ago
It's a regular non-modded Tubescream RI TS9. The second pedal is the FD2.
Dieselgeek02 3 years ago
What kind of loop pedal is that?
BadCompany98 3 years ago
It's a loop mode on the Line 6 delay box. It only does up to 14seconds, so it's pretty useless. Hence, the monotony.
Dieselgeek02 3 years ago
These pickups are the AVn Blues pickups from Chris Kinman.
I love them.

Good sound !
it is pickup Kinman set Blues ?

Sorry for the monotonous loop-- my DL4 only does up to 14 seconds:(

No Man, that was SWEET! I came here from the pickup site but listened for 7:43 cuz it was good.

I'm in the same boat. I'm thinking of using Kinmans. Nice video. Do change up the loop on a long video. Thanks for the great demo of good tone!

Nice tone!! I just found this link on the Kinman website. I'm thinking of upgrading my strat pups to their "blues" model.
ROCK ON!

Love the clip...found it from kinman's sound page. wonderful playing. Wonderful sound.
Question about the Zion: do they have options on neck profiles or are they all Cs?
LamiaFusion 4 years ago
what Dr Z is that?
RobHardie 4 years ago
It's a Stang Ray, basically his version of a pre-Top Boost AC30. I love it.
Dieselgeek02 4 years ago
Are Zions pretty good?
or did you just stick some nice pickups in?

I'd consider them to be in the same league as a Tom Anderson, Grosh, Collings, Suhr, etc.

i prepare real single coil strat sound..
cutehammet2 4 years ago
what chords are you playing here for the rhythm?
your playing is absolutely great here btw, that Dr. Z sounds godly.
dandandanh 4 years ago
The chords are just basic 1, 4, 5 rock. In this case, it's Dmin7 (5th pos), E7 add minor3rd, and Amin (5th pos).

Nice playing amigo! I got here from the Kinman site and I LIKE those pups!

The loop is just the "sampler" mode of a Line 6 Delay Modeler (DL4). It only has a 14 second capacity, so things can get monotonous.--dg

What did you use to get the rhythm to loop like that? By the way, sounds great.
