So the driver of the minivan excercised his/her rights and it was not illegal at least it wouldn't be in TN. However if the escort blocked the minivan which it seemed like the escort was blocking quite a few cars then they would have to fall back behind the procession. I live in TN and read state laws on this. If it's on a 2 lane road cars heading in opposite direction MUST pull over and passing is illegal punishable with a fine. Can't remember how much. However if the road has 4 or more lanes then pulling over CANNOT be enforced and passing IS legal UNLESS the procession is escorted by police. The family CANNOT try to stop anyone from passing. THAT is punishable with a fine. If the police escort blocks a car then that car MUST fall back behind procession.
Every one has a right to protest. But I feel that protesting a fallen soldier's funeral is disrespectful as hell to the family and the United States. It should be considered an act of treason that is punishable by death! Anyone protesting a soldier's funeral should be SHOT ON SIGHT!

This corridor is very busy between Dayton and Cincinnati normal speeds on this are 75-80+. I travel this road every single day twice a day. He was just getting around you since you blocked both lanes.

Technically, all interstate highways are federal property. In fact to be more specific, the property of the military and from a stratigic standpoint they exist to make travel for military vehicles more efficient. So, interfering with a MILITARY vehicle performing military duty could be construed as a federal offense and in fact one could further construe such act as proof that the offender is an enemy combatant and of course we know what the Patriot Act says they can do with enemy combatants.

Most of the system, that is the portion not already being built by the various states when the act was signed into law, was constructed under the supervision of the Army Corps of Engineers and they have authority over all interstate highways though rarely exercise such authority except in certain emergencies. Up here in Canada, the police pretty much close down the highway while escorting our fallen heroes from CFB Trenton to the morgue. Along a stretch of 100 mile highway, police also block off on-ramps so cars cannot merge with the funeral procession as well as having police escorts. Thousands of people show their support along the highway and from overpasses, not to protest.
The section of this highway has been renamed the Highway of Heroes.

Technically, all interstate highways are federal property. In fact to be more specific, the property of the military and from a stratigic standpoint they exist to make travel for military vehicles more efficient. So, interfering with a MILITARY vehicle performing military duty could be construed as a federal offense and in fact one could further construe such act as proof that the offender is an enemy combatant and of course we know what the Patriot Act says they can do with enemy combatants.

And also, just because they're public property does not make them property of the military. My local public library is public property, doesn't mean the military can use it as a barracks. @lastminuteregret You do realize it is called The Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways? Note that second to last word. Eisenhower and other military leaders from 1918-1955 worked to have this designed and built as a means to move military equipment and personel from one part of the country to the other. They sold the idea to the American people by saying they could use it as well. Technically all interstate highways are the property of the fed. government

Your insinuation that the military can do whatever it wants on the interstates is an ignorant one, and I would have no obligation to pull over to any military vehicle because of their lack of jurisdiction anywhere outside a military base without executive order of the President.

@lastminuteregret ALL interstate highways are under the jurisdiction of the United States Army. The Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for their upkeep. And FYI all marked military vehicles have the right of way on all federal highways as per federal law. I sugest you do some reading.

Most of the system, that is the portion not already being built by the various states when the act was signed into law, was constructed under the supervision of the Army Corps of Engineers and they have authority over all interstate highways though rarely exercise such authority except in certain emergencies. I sugest you look it up. I remember as a child watching route 95 being built and seeing the soldiars in fatigues and all the army trucks going back and forth to and from the work sites.

In my state it is illegal to interfere with a funarl procession. I assumed it was a crime in all states. Assuming it is a crime where this video was taken I do not understand why the driver did not simply call the police and have the offenders pulled over and cited.

Yes, we get the "problem people" often, but you shouldn't try to own the entire highway. That only leads to more problems.

Up here in Canada, the police pretty much close down the highway while escorting our fallen heroes from CFB Trenton to the morgue. Along a stretch of 100 mile highway, police also block off on-ramps so cars cannot merge with the funeral procession as well as having police escorts. Thousands of people show their support along the highway and from overpasses, not to protest.
The section of this highway has been renamed the Highway of Heroes.
