hi , i got a question , i recently brought a 1992 prelude with a swapped h22a type s engine ( i dunno its the red top ) and i got a problem with it . the problem is that the acceleration very very slow and its weird at times ( like it gets stuck at 60 kph for couple a seconds)) . the acceleration is so slow it takes ages to get it up to 80 kph . i dont know if this is a problem or that these cars are supposed to be that slow. can someone please tell me whats wrong with my lude :( p.s its a/t

@kellyjames99 Not a chance dude. Absolutely not. 4G Prelude is only 2800 pounds. SC300 is way more. Prelude can brake later into a corner, keep more speed due to less centrifugal force, and accelerate at the exact same time as the SC300. The only problem the Prelude would have to deal with is understeer and torque steer, the former of which could be solved with left foot braking and the latter can be solved with a proper differential, which some of the H22As had stock. You have no idea at all.

@kellyjames99 I said the prelude has at least 500 pounds on it. Preludes generally weigh in at around 2800 lbs. The SC300 with a manual transmission is around 3500. Stock for stock, the prelude has it by 700 pounds. Once you add turbochargers and modifications into the mix you can only assume without seeing any particular specifications. SC300 is a slow car around any corner, and doesn't have quite the cornering ability of a Supra, and even they don't handle well at all.
the reason you dont see lexus cars in japan is cuz they are only sold in north america . toyota is lexus in japan and a sc300 is called a toyota soarer .... and your point of comparing a sport compact car suspension to a luxury car suspension is quite pointles as all luxury cars have soft suspension settings stock . torque steer vs soft suspension ....

You said NEW S2000, and chances are you are going to find it easier to get a used one, which is what I based the prices I have seen them go for of off. We aren't talking about new cars, we are talking about cars in general. Hondas are cheap, just face it. Their resale value sucks. Nah you're wrong about that. You could say Hondas are cheap compared to the Lexus, Acura, Infinitis of the world and that's obviously because those are the luxury brands of their respective manufacturers. BUT, if you compare Hondas to what the majority of people are buying in N. America: your Mazdas, Chevys, Fords, GMs you will find Hondas cost more. Honda prices are, like Toyotas, more expensive BECAUSE unlike the aforementioned brands they DO have high resale value.
Oh and by the way if you buy a 5th Prelude for $2.5k it will have high mileage, probably hasn't been taken care of, and is an automatic tranny (which has proven to be a lemon). Good luck.
YOu did bring up some good points, I say Hondas are cheap by dollar amount to purchase, which is why everyone and their grandma has a civic, which makes up the majority of Hondas driven on the streets today. Toyota and Hondas a like are very reliable cars, I will agree on that. That prelude is not an automatic by the way. But Hondas are cheap cars to buy. I am not going to say they are POS, but compare Acura to Infiniti or Lexus, which is Hondas "High-End" line.
I guess it depends on what you're comparing. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a car in the civic's class/quality that cost more. The reason Acura is not as expensive or coveted as Lexus/Infiniti is there is not as obvious a quality increase between Honda and Acura, which is a testament to how well-made hondas are, and why they have such a resale value even if they are 10-20 years old.
Good point, although if you want to compare that, then take a look at Toyota and Lexus even in the 90's, vs Honda and Acura. I believe you will find KBB value is higher in Toyota vs Honda. Still though, the bottom line is I find Hondas go for less vs any other make (when it comes to popular cars in the import world). Again, I am not saying this to be offensive, it's the truth. Not all, I realize you have a 5th gen prelude which is very rare to find and they look good, consider vs other makes
I say this with evidence, as most Honda drivers (mostly based on those with civics) drive them, sure they fix them up, but they dream of bigger and better cars which typically involve other makes. They simply chose their car because they didn't want a geo metro, toyota corolla, or another car that isn't too appealing to the eye with less potential. @kellyjames99 I said the prelude has at least 500 pounds on it. Preludes generally weigh in at around 2800 lbs. The SC300 with a manual transmission is around 3500. Stock for stock, the prelude has it by 700 pounds. Once you add turbochargers and modifications into the mix you can only assume without seeing any particular specifications. SC300 is a slow car around any corner, and doesn't have quite the cornering ability of a Supra, and even they don't handle well at all.

preludes dont suck... i just got one stock and put about $800 into it and its now faster than my old gsr with about $1500 in mods and i have raced a pontiac g6 gt and beat it and and s2k and came really close to beating it. they arent slow

I'm just trolling. Honestly though, I think VTEC is overrated. Every brand has their version of VTEC. It's not even that great compared to turbo or supercharger setups. The only good thing, and I mean ONLY, about Honda's is their weight. But moron fucktards attribute it to the glory of VTEC. You could transplant a SR20VET into that lil' honda and make it go faster than any K20 could.

I know exactly what you mean. Where I come from, Honda drivers are 80% of the population in the scene here. Their ideal is retarded.. "Why buy a Ferrari? That's dumb! Vtec baby!" but offer them a Supra in exchange and they won't hesitate. Hell, I even have Honda drivers asking me if I want to sell my car and I am not even done with my conversion yet. Easy to assume you make more money than someone you don't know, isn't it? Anyways, I live in Cali and have seen them for as low as $8k and as high as $20k, but no higher. Remember, the car has came out in 2000, and even a Porsche which is more valuable 1999 can go for under $20k, because we had those listed for that low here. Even a 94 Dodge Viper for $45k. That's nice your 5th gen Prelude can go for that much, they are hard to find, but KBB most Hondas and they are cheap. Check local ads.

I also watch what people say to try to be "right". You said NEW S2000, and chances are you are going to find it easier to get a used one, which is what I based the prices I have seen them go for of off. We aren't talking about new cars, we are talking about cars in general. Hondas are cheap, just face it. Their resale value sucks. Nah you're wrong about that. You could say Hondas are cheap compared to the Lexus, Acura, Infinitis of the world and that's obviously because those are the luxury brands of their respective manufacturers. BUT, if you compare Hondas to what the majority of people are buying in N. America: your Mazdas, Chevys, Fords, GMs you will find Hondas cost more. Honda prices are, like Toyotas, more expensive BECAUSE unlike the aforementioned brands they DO have high resale value.

YOu did bring up some good points, I say Hondas are cheap by dollar amount to purchase, which is why everyone and their grandma has a civic, which makes up the majority of Hondas driven on the streets today. Toyota and Hondas a like are very reliable cars, I will agree on that. That prelude is not an automatic by the way. But Hondas are cheap cars to buy. I am not going to say they are POS, but compare Acura to Infiniti or Lexus, which is Hondas "High-End" line.

I guess it depends on what you're comparing. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a car in the civic's class/quality that cost more. The reason Acura is not as expensive or coveted as Lexus/Infiniti is there is not as obvious a quality increase between Honda and Acura, which is a testament to how well-made hondas are, and why they have such a resale value even if they are 10-20 years old.

Good point, although if you want to compare that, then take a look at Toyota and Lexus even in the 90's, vs Honda and Acura. I believe you will find KBB value is higher in Toyota vs Honda. Still though, the bottom line is I find Hondas go for less vs any other make (when it comes to popular cars in the import world). Again, I am not saying this to be offensive, it's the truth. Not all, I realize you have a 5th gen prelude which is very rare to find and they look good, consider vs other makes

I say this with evidence, as most Honda drivers (mostly based on those with civics) drive them, sure they fix them up, but they dream of bigger and better cars which typically involve other makes. They simply chose their car because they didn't want a geo metro, toyota corolla, or another car that isn't too appealing to the eye with less potential. Plus the hype and the fact that you can own a civic and have friends that have them vs a daewoo lanos and risk getting made fun of.
