@paolojacm It is a baroque instrument now, I regraduated and altered the bass bar/setup. It did not sound this way when I got it, but with a little work, it now is OK
WOW! with the sound turned off, I look at how little bow you're using and think, there can't be anything good sounding from this guy, but then I turn on the sound and I'm totally amazed! can't wait till we play together again!
@violinzylla Hey Cheryl, I am getting into the whole baroque thing, and still feeling my way with the different equipment. As a baroque violist, do you think I should use more bow?
@AlastairBrownViolist well, I'm perfuddled, because it looks like you "should" be using more bow, however, the sound is awesome......but my initial impression is, certainaly, explore using more than the upper half of the bow. Actually, I prefer a good mix of "ck" consonant sounds, to put some punctuation in all the vowel sounds, in Baroque music.
You play the instrument so nicely- with a very balanced technique! I think I will bit on such viola if it will appear again on yita...what changes did you make on the instrument? And what size is it?
Hi, well I am not 100% sure who the maker is, it is from China. It was quite inexpensive, but I took it apart and worked on it a little and it sounds quite good. Sorry I dont have more info.
@AlastairBrownViolist: Thanks. I now know EXACTLY what viola you're using, I just doubted it before. I placed a bid on it on eBay. It's made by a company called Yitamusic, and, apparently, they are highly reputable. I was a little reluctant to bid on it, but after I heard its sound, I'm more reassured.
Congrats! Beautiful performace!
Is it a Yitamusic T20 16"? It's not a baroque instrument (just a "baroque look") but I'd really like to try it, as the sound is baroque...

@AlastairBrownViolist Wow! And what else did you change? The handle is still tilted? Which Strings do you use? Thank you very much

@paolojacm I used some gut strings I had lying around and I did reset the neck, but I will probably re do the whole thing again when time permits.
