  • GOO ALI!

  • The greatest fight in history, no other comes close !!!!!

  • My father woke me up in the middle of the night to watch Muhammad Ali fighting.

Ali is the hero of my childhood and he will be my hero for the rest of my life.

God bless you, our wonderful king! God bless you Ali!

You will be the greatest until the end of time.

  • ALI! BUMAYE!!!!

  • @NathanStormrage proof it didn't?

  • Both is greatest boxer..but ali is unbeatable

  • I was watching George Foreman commenting on a fight when the subject of this fight came up and one of the other announcers said, "You mean to tell me after Ali knocked you out you didn't want to get right back into the ring with him?" and George said, "I had just hit him with everything I had for seven rounds and he knocked me out. I didn't want any part of that man!" And he said it so matter of fact honestly that everyone listening laughed. George became a truly great man after this fight.

  • press 2

  • Years later George thanked Ali for not throwing the right just before he fell

  • Muhammed was islamic..

  • " He would hit me with these punches over and over but then he started punching me in the chest like i was an animal. I quickly realised he had no respect for me and if he could he would kill me. Once i realised that the fight was over for me. I didnt even believe i could win. It was amazing how intimidating he could be without even looking at me.

  • @Bowlox. I agree tyson wouldve lost to foreman if they both fought in their prime. But anyway wen foreman made his comeback tysons manager told him not to fight foreman. And people who had fought foreman and tyson still kept to wat they said about foreman being the hardest hitter they ever faced. ""QUOTE."" "I've fought many men over many years but i still remember fighting foreman .I've been hit alot but ive never been hit like that before". Another quote " He would hit me with these punches

  • Ali = the best, awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This took place on my birthday oct 30 <3

  • The Tyson of the eghties would've beaten anyone .

  • @Garrikpz anyone? nah.

  • tyson would not have lasted a round with ali foreman or smoking joe, true champions with the hearts of lions.

  • @bowlocks are u out of ur mind? ok i kno they are great champions but you ignored Tyson like he is a sissy...

  • Bang!!!

  • Awesome!!!!!!!

  • The champion could have annihilated Foreman with one punch. He had a clear shot at him as Foreman was going down. If he hit him as he was going down, a count was not even needed, Foreman would be out. I don't know why he did not hit him. I know Foreman would have. Maybe because he did not want to hit him as he had too much class to hit a fighter who couldn't do anything anymore, or maybe he wanted the world to see the big indestructible Foreman fall down slowly, like he did.

  • I witnessed that fight on TV when I was a 10 years old and I still remember my father running from the dinningroom to the livingroom 40 yards away in les than 5 seconds to see his idol win!!

  • Ali could easily add a punch more but he did not. It show how brave and great he is.

  • @maabaig It doesn't mean anything. Foreman had puched himself out and Ali knew it. Even if George got up he would have lasted a round at the most. Having pity on an opponent who is obviously defeated and not sucker punching him isn't brave, and neither is dodging a Foreman rematch for the rest of your career.

  • @theInfamousQB Foreman said in his book that Ali offered him a rematch in '77, but Foremansaid that he'd found God. Anyway, Ali beat Shavers later. Ali still had a lot left, as evidenced by Manilla. I think he'd have won the rematch.

  • @carmodifire If what Foreman said in his book is true, then props to Ali, but I'm not sure I believe it. The thing is, even though Ali was still a great fighter (as seen in Manila as you said), he beat an overtrained Foreman with a strategy that George would not have fallen for a second time. I think George would have trained extremely hard for the rematch and wouldnt allow Ali to draw him into punching himself out again.

  • @theInfamousQB I thought that too. Foreman is overly generous, he said he was 'lucky' against Norton, and terrified of Frazier. Foreman changed his strategy after Ali, but I don't think it was a good idea. I think Foreman pre-Ali would have KO'd Young, but he tried to box a boxer. I think it would go like Foreman-Young. But maybe Foreman would pick his shots better. Moore said that Foreman wasted too much ammunition on Ali's arms, and wasn't listening to him about Ali's plan.

  • @carmodifire Yeah, exactly what I mean. Knowing what had happened in Zaire, Foreman wouldn't fall for rope-a-dope again. Ali would know that he wouldn't and have to use a different strategy. Could Ali figure out a new way to fight Foreman successfully, I dont think he could, but who knows maybe he could. He didnt change is gameplan much for Frazier II and III though.

  • @theInfamousQB True... With Frazier 1, Ali was beating Frazier till he gassed, and Frazier came back. Ali rested on the ropes, but it didn't work. He clinched too much in 2, I think he wanted a safe win. 3, he was leading again early, till he got tired. The heat didn't help him dance. Ali had really good KO ability (not power) before he did that STUPID Inoki thing and never KO'd anyone ever again.

  • @theInfamousQB Ali would have beaten Foreman again up until Manila where his 70s peak ended. Anytime from 1976 and on it could be 50-50. Even when Ali became shot(76-78) I still believe Ali could defeat Foreman, simply because Ali had way too many bags of tricks. And Foreman didn't get better as a fighter, Foreman actually regressed as a fighter from 75-77. Foreman has also stated that he could face Ali 20 times and he still would lose to Ali because of his style.

  • @theInfamousQB The rematch between Ali and Foreman was set in 77 actually. Ali would give a title shot to Foreman once Foreman took out Young, of course that didn't happen as Young shocked him and so the Norton-Young-Spinks-Ali fiasco happened.

  • Rope-a-dope!

  • Years later, Ali and Foreman became friends, and Ali got a Foreman grill and uses it.

  • what a great champion he was...

  • Bomaye

  • ALI BOMAYE

  • @ishamael0 Your so correct about that , Ali would never hit another boxer on his way down... But he was standing on his fingers so he could get up LOL

  • Foreman looked tired and thin here. Plus the fight took place in Africa and like 3 in the morning with the whole continent rooting for Ali. George lost fair and square but he wasn't himself here. His water probably had malaria in it.

  • @aitraining If he lost fair and square don't make any excuses. Even George, said that he did not want to make any more excuses, as it was a right hand knocking him out, not the hostile crowd.

  • @michaelyouth Well George had too much class and would never make excuses ( unlike Ali who never gave any post fight props to the guys he lost to) - including Joe Frazier, who he NEVER has said complimentary words about...even today. Back to this fight. The crowd had nothing to do with it (even though 95% were pulling for Ali) but Foreman was training for weeks thru a hostile environment in Zaire and he did look weak and thin. Just stating facts.

  • @aitraining You clearly are very ignorant. George MADE nothing but excuses after the fight. Just like Ali did after the first Frazier fight. They were young, and it is hard to accept defeat. Both Foreman and Ali admitted they lost those fights fair, when they got older..HAHA but George had too much class to never (ahhah) make an excuse? HAHA Foreman blamed everybody, even the ropes. And Ali never said anything complimentary about Frazier? He called Frazier the 2nd greatest. You know shit.

  • @michaelyouth Ali humiliated Frazier publicly. Do u remember him punching a toy gorilla and saying it was Frazier? All in "fun" for him and the media but Frazier thought it was low class. Watch Champions forever (a great DVD btw and it's up here on you tube). but Ali never manned up when he lost. I never saw that Frazier "2nd greatest" quote - but even that makes no sense. Joe was not 2nd and Ali was not first. George always gives props to Ali. And well....the ropes WERE loose :)

  • @aitraining I never said that Ali did not do those things to Frazier. Or did I? So why do you bring that up? Its like me saying now: Georg Foreman destroyed Ken Norton! It has nothing to do with this.

You were saying that George has a lot of class by not making excuses after the fight, but thats all George did. Just like Ali after the first Frazier fight. But both admitted, as they got older they lost the fight faire.

    You clearly are very ignorant.

  • @aitraining The postfight of Manilla is where Ali said Frazier was #2.

  • 15 people thought that was the "Dis I Like" button, we can't blame them =/

  • Ali was, and will be boxing's Legend!

  • The comentator, Harry Carpenter - 'Suddenly Ali looks very tired indeed, in fact Ali, at times now, looks as though he can barely lift his arms up... Oh he's got him with a right hand! He's got him! Oh you can't believe it. And I don't think Foreman's going to get up. He's trying to beat the count. And he's out! OH MY GOD he's won the title back at 32! Muhammad Ali!'

  • Before the fight Muhammad Ali met a boy with cancer, Muhammad told him, "Hey, i'm going to beat George Foreman, and you're going to beat cancer. After the match Muhammad visited the kid at the hospital. "I've beaten George Foreman, and now it's you're turn to beat cancer!", the little kid looked at him and smiled. "No champ, i'm going to meet god, and then i'm going to tell him I know you."

  • @SkateTreProductions where'd you read/hear that?

    that's awesome

  • @stawg007 /watch?v=83VMQkKz0P0&feature=related

At the end of the clip

  • @SkateTreProductions thanks for that

  • @SkateTreProductions wow awesome!

  • @SkateTreProductions thats beautifull man

  • @SkateTreProductions - Nice little urban myth. The trouble with these cute little stories is that there almost NEVER true.

  • @ArgentineExpel4Fraud It could be true. You've got no reason to believe it's not really.

    P.S. Nice little depressing comment.

  • ALI for life !

  • Ah, the 1970s. When distance was a real factor and your heroes, idols and celebrities really were in a world of their own.

  • wow

  • if i was downloading fighting skills into my DNA and i could download three fighters skills it would look like this:Muhammad Ali,Muhhamad Ali,Muhammad Ali.

  • ..after Maywther ortiz ... dedicated to MAYWETHER the diffrence between champ & a fighter

  • This fight must be the reason why George Foreman came up with his Foreman Grill idea, because Muhammad Ali grilled him here. God Bless you Muhammad Ali.

  • @DarkReapersGrim OMG this is funny because I left a comment about that on another video! But I typed that Foreman was on the floor and he was like, " I see hamburgers and lean bodies like Ali's" hahaha

so that is how the George Foreman grill was put in his head LOL

  • Definitely not a phantom punch

  • keep pressing 2

  • George in my eyes is still one of the greatest boxers. He actually had pretty shitty form, he punched purely from the arm with no body weight behind it, yet still had one of the highest knockout percentages in boxing, and still one of the strongest punches. While Ali got older a few years later and retired, George Foreman came back and after 10 years of NOT FIGHTING and won Heavyweight Championship at the age of 45!!! Foreman, Ali, Frazier; The gods of boxing.

  • @YouAreAllMaggots Tyson to =)

  • @rotumoog77 I feel that Tyson was a good boxer, but he never went up against any really great boxers. The only ones that could stand a chance against him were Holyfield (which he bit his ear off) and George Foreman (at 40 some years old, and Tyson refused to fight him). I won't doubt he is good, but I think that hes given a lot of praise for fighting low-end pros.

  • @rotumoog77 no tyson had great technique and was more skilled than foreman, he didnt have foremans inhuman punch or physical strength. but in a ring foreman would kill him, styles would be all wrong.

  • imma show you how great i am!

  • I have always thought the phantom punch was like a Roberto Duran " no more " moment. He coulda got up, but knew he was gonna get embarrassed so he stayed low.

  • @ShareTheMike

Yeah, I realized he was exhausted but it didn't look like a ko punch to me either.

  • Funny how the commentators keep repeating "that was no phantom punch" as if that meant something. That so-called phantom punch on Liston is right here on youtube, and it lands solid. Ali called it the 'anchor punch'. It sneaks right over Liston's left arm so he never sees it coming. That punch was no phantom either, but it keeps getting called that, as if it was a fake. In slow-mo you can see Listons's flesh ripple from the shock of it landing.

  • @lostchordevine I've seen that punch here on YouTube in slow motion and yes if you look at it in slo mo you can see that it landed solid and caught Liston solid. I think it was that it all happened so fast that you could blink and miss it - even a lot of spectators at ringside didn't really see it. Having said that, I think that in that fight Liston could have gotten up and continued but he knew he'd probably get the crap beaten out of him again so he quit, again.

  • @theskeptic2010 " Liston could have gotten up and continued but he knew he'd probably get the crap beaten out of him again so he quit, again. " Q.F.T .

  • what a gentleman. although there was a huge risk of loosing he still spared foreman while he was falling down, instead of making the ko 100% clear.

  • after his last punch, george is already going down, you can see hesitate ali for a short moment - should he make it all sure with another punch - NO! and that gives this knockout its elegance

  • its the rope-a-dope baby!!!

  • Had the US not taken away three of Ali's boxing years, I doubt Frazier & Foreman would ever have been champs in the first place. Still, they were all the greatest heavyweights of all time and a true Golden Age for boxing.

  • Ali had great moments but besides this fight, he barely got thru the great fighters of the 70's. Norton, Frazier, Leon Spinks, Larry Holmes? He lost or should have to most of them Hate to say this.....but he is overrated. Alot of mouth and an anti american muslim if we want to b really honest here

  • @aitraining What does being an "anti-American muslim" have to do with his boxing legacy? This just shows the true agenda behind your message.

  • @aitraining he had a 3 1/2 year lay off and to come bk and fight never mind win against any of the people you mentioned is scary talent , he beat them in a rematch because that's what true greats do they learn from mistakes .. he had parkinsons by the time he fought holmes and im pretty sure that was the 80's

  • this was really best macth of all times

  • that was no phantom punch

  • @devinall23 We know, it was a joke you idiot.

  • If I was alive in 1974, and a gambling man, I would have bet on Foreman. He was younger, in his prime, and he destoryed Frazier and Norton - The same men who beat Ali. When I watch "When We Were Kings" and I see Foreman hitting that punching bag, it's pretty frightening!

  • froman is lil i see him now he looks like king hippo

  • ali was obviously fighting smarter than the wild foreman

  • ali did not punch foreman while he was going down. nice of ali. some other boxers would hit foreman while he was falling down

  • @ishamael0 Didn't notice till you mentioned it! But I'm pretty sure he could tell the fight was over since he was in the ring and we weren't.

  • @ishamael0 they said that ali wanted to do it in style :')

  • @ishamael0

    Man, you're totally right!

  • @ishamael0 Spot on fella. Ali was a gent first, genius next!

  • @ishamael0

of course, muhammad knew after that last punch that foreman was gone lol.

  • @ishamael0 Indeed. He didn't let him suffer while he was falling to the ground. Very nice of him!

  • @ishamael0 forget 'bout that.. REMEMBER THIS: he was receiving incredible pain through the fight, 'cause he was tiring Foreman out. [forgive my english it isn't my main language]

  • @ishamael0 that's why george respected ali he said " the best punch of that fight never landed because the speed ali had he could've put another few on me ! , that's why he is the greatest " .. geaorge would have added the punches of a man falling tho .. ALI = classy and spoke a whole lot but backed it up , not being cocky just life :P

  • @ishamael0 Mike Tyson would have hit him 3 more times lol

  • @eviilhomerr Yes, Tyson would have. But Ali was too cool to hit someone who's falling. Ya know? Suave.

  • @ishamael0 even forman him self said that the best punch of the fight was never thrown. he said he would have finsihed ali off if it was the other way around. "and that makes him the greatest fighter that ever faught"- george forman's words.

  • @ishamael0 Ali didn't punch Foreman while he was going down cuz he wanted to see how Foreman slowly was going down, it was like see a rhino or an elephant going down, shot by the hunter.

Ali was the hunter and Foreman was his prey, and he wanted to see his prey going down slowly. A final punch would had messed with all that.

  • @ishamael0 As Foreman said, that's why he considers Ali as the greatest

  • Ali! Ali! Ali! Ali! Ali! Ali!

  • thank you for this wonderful moment.

  • Foreman still a fuckin BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • George Foreman is right about one thing, a jab has more force than one would think, nearly defies the laws of physics a quick jab can deface a person or a drywall or the front panel of my PC(lol).

  • I'm so proud of it.. I put my name on it

  • Take a look at my boxing video contest between me 50 and Darness 42 ,you will like this.Check it out.Nigel Benn and me had the same army title guess which one ?

  • guys this have been Ali's greatest performance but I think that The fight of century is "Thrilla in Manila"

  • i think it might have been a phantom punch.

  • "that was no phantom"

    "that was no cap'n crunch"

    "that was no falcon punch"

    and hes down...

  • THE MATCH OF THE CENTURY ! ! ! NOBODY can complete up against Ali !!! NOBODY!!! GENIUS! BUT INCREDIBLE! POWERFUL BUT SHARP !!! ALI BUMAYE! ALI BUMAYE!!! hahaha

  • 6 dislikes? wtf? forman must have seen this from diffrent computers

  • @hypercamnerd haha thats a funny comment

  • @hypercamnerd dude foreman respects ali and believes everyone should, getcha facts straight dawg....... ya, that confirms, i ain't a gangstah

  • @hypercamnerd he called up joe frazier to watch it with him, along with sonny liston and marciano

  • @hypercamnerd Or at least given 6 people free grills to do his dirty work!

  • Ali bomaye

  • Speed Vs Power. Speed wins. Great Defense by Ali

  • Yesterday Ali ,today Khan!

  • 5 hits conectados de seguido por Alí matarían a cualquiera

  • I think its safe to say that was no phantom punch

  • Mariciano, Ali and Tyson. Those are the greatest of all time

  • The origin of Falcon Punch is here.

  • Ali came to fight. He showed his experience, his quick hands, and most importantly he showed his incredible elusiveness. That is why he is the greatest. But... let's give Big George some credit. He left boxing with 69 KOs, a ton of money, and all his marbles intact.

  • This floor is so good, I put my face on it. -George Foreman

  • announcers name?

  • It is not a proven fact...yet, but Chuck Norris trained with Muhammad Ali. Wow!!! Nonetheless this is the most EPIC and remembered boxing match for the ages.

  • I am never going to buy his grills again! AHH

  • it is simple ALI is legend foreman is bullshit

    ALI is legend

  • it is simple ALI is legend foreman is bullshit

  • don't get all this Mohamed ali shit! he is the most overrrated sportsman of all time. all he did was put his arms round his opponent out of fear of being hit. He was good at that but if he was so good why is he a total cabbage now and a total laughing stock!

  • @widlad7 He put his arms round his opponent to tire them out and when it was his turn he simply knocked them out its a style Why dont u try to face him when he was that age?

  • @widlad7 Suggest you watch his other fights to see how hard he hit and how fast he was for a heavyweight. He was not frightened by Foreman he just had a plan an executed it prefectly on the night. The reason he is now a cabbage as you disrespectfully call him is that he contracted Parkisnons disease at a young age.Whether this was brought on more quickly by some of the heavy hits he took we do not know and he has never been a laughing stock.

  • @hartforp When a boxer (Ali) is so good that he makes good fighters look bad, he doesn't get much credit. Those heavyweights of the 60s whom Ali beat (while he was a contender and after he became champion) were legitimate bona finde heavyweights, guys like Cleveland Williams and Zora Folley. 2nd phase of Ali's career, he fought another round of bona fide heavyweights; Frazier, Norton, Foreman, Quarry, Bonavena. I'm not an Ali acolyte, I just find it hard to argue with what he accomplished.

  • @widlad7 It's laughable that you can't even spell his name right. And he's hardly the most overrated sportsman of all time seeing as he did things that heavyweight boxers can only dream of doing. He clinched, but as you put it he was afraid of being hit. In actual fact clinching is a technique used by all boxers, including MMA fighters. And no, one of the greatest heavyweight boxers is not a laughing stock. You bloody are you illiterate shmuck.

  • @widlad7 You are the laughing stock, he is the most beloved man on the planet you little teenage shit.

  • @truthfulmind Gee thanks for the compliment!

  • @widlad7

trollin bastard wants to find out why ali was so good hahaha, laughing stock, dats ur family name bitch..

u shud get hit by foreman, when he's on his deathbed, u'd croak faster than him..

  • @widlad7 yeah, i'd love u try to reach your opponent first to grab behind his head. oops, i forgot, keyboard trolls never do that anyways

  • @nazirdjon I would never have beaten Ali myself when he was in his prime but as he is now a vegatable i think i would fancy my chances!

  • Back when Boxing was epic...

now we have got morons like the klitschkos, this big ugly hairy russian and other bitches,.,.

  • What's weird is that Ali's last punch isn't even the hardest I've seen him throw. He still had plenty in reserve, and even waited to see if more punches were necessary.

He wasn't angry or anything, just purposeful and focused. Pretty impressive

  • @bigbadassjohnson No, not the hardest punch we've seen him throw, but when you look at it, you can see him really leaning into it. More technique than raw power.

  • I don't mean to boast but.. Okay Maybe I do LOL.. MY MUM AND DAD WERE HERE!!!!

  • I know i'm probably a idiot for askin but what's a phantom punch??

  • @marcus7891000 - an unconnected punch. All stems from Ali v Liston II in Maine. There's something in one of these clips on the right hand side

  • @marcus7891000 In Muhammad Ali's rematch with Sonny Liston, Ali knocked Liston down with a punch so fast that many witnesses claimed they never saw it, and therefore it was called "the phantom punch." Replay does show that he actually did throw a punch and that it did in fact connect with Liston's temple. The reason why the commentator here keeps repeating that it isn't a phantom punch is to make it clear that this was a legit knockout that doesn't need to be speculated.

  • @alithegreatest34 ohh thanks much clearer

  • @alithegreatest34 I've seen the film of the Ali-Liston "phantom" punch, and if you watch closely, you definitely see Ali connecting with the "phantom" punch. But it doesn't look hard enough to be a KO punch (though I don't dispute that Ali won).

  • @57highland it was definitely powerful enough to knock him down, but yes i know that Liston was fully aware and capable of getting up. obviously, there's the theory about the mobs and stuff, but let's face it, if he gets up and the fight continues, he's most likely going down again.

  • @alithegreatest34 Right. If Liston got up (and stayed up) it would have been a lop-sided decision, at best, with his face all tattooed.

  • What Frazier could not do twice, defeat Foreman!

  • You can tell Foreman tried to block that last Right punch by Ali but by the time he had his arms in front to block, the punch had already landed 5 minutes ago...

  • i like how ali did not punch foreman as he was going down. shows alot of class

  • @ishamael0 Yeah, Foreman said himself that thats what made Ali the greatest ever, simply because he never threw the "last" punch to show he was better. Foreman admired Ali ever since because he didn't throw that last shot which could have seriously hurt Foreman, maybe even done permanent damage to his career.

  • @vladiator100

You go for the kill. It's not over til the ref pulls you off.

  • @ishamael0 Yes, because Ali with his fast hands could have tagged Foreman 5 maybe 6 more times on Foreman's way down. Ali was just being too cool.

  • it was just the ropeadope.. george shouldve knocked his ass off

  • Even though Ali knocked Foreman out - Foreman hurt Ali badly - you can see from looking at the videos before and after the fight that Ali just wasn't the same after that.

  • @shockthesky lol foreman broke his jaw man, that's just insanity.

  • Phantom punch in Ali-Liston 2?? Think again. The tape was analyzed by sportswriters 75 times in slow-motion. Conclusion. The punch was real. Just because you want something to be true doesn't mean it is.

  • @faunfoto1 Perceptioni is always more important than reality

  • Foreman called Ali the greatest fighter he ever fought. See the movie. 'Facing Ali' Says it right to the camera. Frazier knocked down Ali because Ali was banned from boxing for 4 years, refused to be drafted owing to religious beliefs although he never would have seen combat. Would have put on exhibitions for the troops. Ali said, "No Vietnamese ever called me n-gg-r." Ali was and is a hero. How fast was Ali--his jabs were timed by an electronic timer. 33% faster than any other heavyweight.

  • ali is the best

  • he said it was not a Phantom punch - this is in reference to Ali Liston 2 - where the punch was supposedly a phantom punch but when you slow down the film you can see clearly that Ali his Liston with a short right hand VERY FAST - dont' know what you mean by a falcon punch - there isn't any such thing
