  • The Core is not a very good looking watch. It looks like an what an executive in a business suit would wear, not a rugged outdoorsman.

  • @L1v2d1 I climb with my Suunto Core and have banged it against rock numerous times without any issues...Unless your dropped yours from a summit for testing or amusement, I can't see how you managed to "toast" it.

  • Try pressing adjust, mode and altimeter buttons at the same time. Then cycle with alti. button.

  • the suunto core is cool but no match to the g shock riseman. if you were to say bang your suunto against sumthing its toast unlike g shock which are meant to take a beating. so to those with the suunto enjoy the little time you have with your watch because it wont last

  • I love my Suunto Core

  • Suunto Core is amazing.. this watch warns you about storm before it begins. There was a tough dilemma for me to Suunto Core and Suunto Vector before this movie

  • I recently bought a suunto core... Not impressed, just my opinion I bought a Timex expedition ws4 and if you can get over the size they are awsome

  • these are wack compared to the retro casio watches.

  • Thanks for the review. I bought the suunto core, but I'm not sure I can live with this display. It really is weak. I tried to adjust the contrast, but still not satisfied. The suunto core is kind of like working in windows vs the pathfinder which is kind of like MS Dos.

  • @rodbaker Sorry to hear that you're not satisfied with your Core. While I haven't seen it in person, I know that Suunto makes the Core with a reversed display (dark numbers on a light background). You can videos of it here too. You may find that one works out better for you.

  • @rodbaker and yes, DOS vs Windows is a good comparison...

  • @rodbaker I have the same one manufactured in 2011, but my display looks brighter. No issues.

  • Like the videos, but stop calling the PAG40 a "G-Shock"!

  • Belated thank you to nikudes. A few weeks ago I bought a Pathfinder Pag240, the latest upgrade to the PAG40 -- but I'm already contemplating adding a Core to the quiver as well. Your reviews are excellent, and between your comments and what I read in the Watchuseek forums, I had a ton of unbiased, real-world advice. Thanks again

  • @jvatl Thanks for your feedback. Nice to hear that you appreciate the videos. Hope you enjoy your watch.

  • casio pathfinder > $5000 rolex watch

  • Can you use a Nato strap with the Core? I think that would be cool.

  • @michaeleffmeredith The original band (shown in this video) did come with lugs so I think that that would work.

  • After looking at your comparison, I bought a Suunto Core instead of a new Casio. This is actually my one and only wristwatch that is made from any other manufacturer then Casio.

I'm pretty sure I'll be impressed and satisfied with the new watch.

    Thanks for a great vs.

  • casio looks nicer than the other one

  • super!

  • what is better g6900 or g9000mx ?????

  • Give me a nice G-Shock over these

  • There isn't much difference b/w gshocks and protreks. The protrek is equally tough but has much more functions and much higher price. I've got both a protrek and a mudman and to be honest I think the protrek is tougher.

  • @kotapaka

I know that but I honestly think the Mudman is nicer looking.

  • the new Casio triple sensors kick ass.

  • Both watches are ugly, but about price and quality ratio, I prefer the Casio watch!!.

  • The Suunto Core is hard as shit to see in bright sun light. Like at the beach. It looks cool but the display is Shite!

The Pathfinder G-Shock is kinda ugly. But the best outdoor watch I have heard of.

  • good video thanx........sort the spit swollowing out dude. its nasty down the mic. get a drink!!

  • Tough, tank look like and absolutelly brilliant watch...my 4 yrs old CASIO Pathfinder...Never had better one and propobly will stick to it for another 4 yrs.

  • I just got the pathfinder PAW 1500 winter edition msrp: $380 but i got it in ebay for 240. I was REALLY having a hard time choosing between the core and the casio. I just thought the Pathfinder feels a lot stronger..

  • i have this casio. still working perfect after 3,5 years.

it s value for money because it s made it in korea.

the prg models made in japan are more expensive

  • i think that they have a setting the barometer or alti and basicly what you do is you look at your barometric pressure for local you can adjust it to the right pressure and from there your good. calibration

  • My suunto Observer fell one time on the floor and that was the end of the compass. My casio is still working perfectly after 3 years.

Half the price but twice as good!

  • Keep in mind this is an entry level pathfinder, I think the paw versions should be more accurate?

  • I tried a Casio G-shocks with baro/alti/thermometer years ago but took it back when I noticed that the baro/alti functions were very inaccurate and apparently thrown off by one's own body heat. Since I prefer to wear a wristwatch on my wrist, it didn't make sense. Do you know if accuracy has improved with these Pathfinders? I noticed you showed inaccuracy & also had a workaround by setting ref pts. Did that work? I didn't like how Suunto ascribed baro/alti changes to whatever is displayed.

  • I've noticed that my Suunto Core seems pretty accurate but I haven't done an accuracy test on the Pathfinder. That might be a good subject for a future video.

  • dude nice calm review i like it

  • Comment removed

  • I just bought a casio prg40 pathfinder watch in titanium strap and gray color for 11, 350 pesos or about $210.... I was thinking of the suunto watch but its about 20, 000 peos here so budget wise I got the Casio!hehe

  • The thing you say at "5min" about the Casio being able to figure out the actual reference pressure/pressure at sea level: That sounds a bit too good to me, flying an airplane with an altimeter for 2000dollars doesnt do this, so what do you think? Could it be a standard value instead? (29,92inch.m/1013,25mb)

  • If I understand you correctly, I think you're right. The Casio won't figure out what the pressure is at sea level. It measures air pressure at its current location and uses preset values to calculate altitude based on those measurements. Alternatively you can set a reference altitude and it will continue to measure altitude based on that reference. Any change in barometric pressure will throw off the altitude reading though.

  • Yes, that must be right.

By the way, your vidos are absolutely top-class. Your level of knowledge is great and the way you explain stuff is extreemly pedagogic.

  • Thanks so much. I appreciate that. I enjoy making them so it's nice to hear that you enjoyed it too.

  • As an engineer (me) your conversation sound a bit funny :). You don't need maths and physics to know how it works though - I think it is written in the manual (at least for casio)

  • is there any casio, suunto dealer in Toronto Canada?

  • That I don't know. I would check both company's web sites.

  • Sonic Science is a good place in Toronto, free shipping in Canada too!

    Hope this helps, Good luck!

  • ohh shit buy polar...

suunto is perhaps a better swatch :P

but the video is very nice

    cya

  • on Suunto so difficukt to see anything

I think you get lot more with the Casio value for money is great

  • price comparison between suunto and casio pf?

  • Hi, i come from Denmark, so i would like to know; can it measure in Metres and perhaps Centimetres? We don't use Feet in Denmark :D

    Greetings Chris

PS. I LOOVE your videos, your reviews are GREAT!

  • Thanks, happy to hear you like the video. Both watches are adjustable for metric and imperial measurements.

  • do you personally prefer Suunto or Casio?

I know that you said both of them have positive and negative sides, but can you announce the overall winner?

  • I ran out of room here. Check out the text description in part 3 of this video for my response.

  • I saw the video #3 but I didn't read the description. It answered my question.

Thank you and have a nice day!

  • this and other part are wery great ,, nice and thanx 1000 times u help me a lot!!!
