  • What coordinate system did you set for your multipatch feature class? WGS84?

  • You do not need SketchUp Pro, though you may find the added functionality helpful. The model you create in SketchUp is converted to Collada format. ArcScene will be able to convert the Collada file to a multipatch feature.

  • @GISin3D Awesome! Thanks for the reply!

  • Do you have to have sketchup pro or will the free version allow you to import buildings into ArcScene?

  • I am trying to export topo data from ArcGIS 10 to Sketchup 8 in order to build a 3D terrain model. What are the workflow steps for this? Are there similar multipatch features?

  • @loping2 This is URGENT. Please respond asap. Thanks!!!

  • @loping2 I would suggest looking at the sandbox tools in SketchUp. I think you could import contours into SketchUp and build your terrain with the sandbox tools. If your area is large, you will probably need to simplify the contours to not overwhelm SketchUp. I do most of my terrain work in a GIS environment, so I can't offer too much first hand experience. I hope this helps.
