  • lol i was shocked to see the the 2 dresses from gone with the wind that would have killed the picture but the first dress was first worn by norma sheer lvx

  • Oh my! Scarlett's dress!

  • Wow, the first dress is intensely ugly, i'm glad they didn't choose that.

  • yes!!, and the third dress was also worn by vivien leigh, when scarlett marries charles hamilton. carlos

  • That is Scarlets dress from GWTW exactly!

ha thats funny if vivien got this role she would have worn the dress much sooner

  • @jeliyful not really. This movie came out after gone with the wind. I can't believe they'd even considered recycling such iconic pieces.

  • @thedeetzes This movie did come out after Gone with the Wind, but the movie Rebecca was actually scheduled to release at the same time as Gone with the Wind. It was held back a year so Joan Fontaine could have a chance of winning the academy award for best actress because Everyone knew that Vivien was going to win with her role in Gone with the Wind. The plan worked almost, because Joan was nominated but didn't win. So no they were not actually trying to recycle iconic pieces.

  • Isn't 0:44 the ruby colored dress Scarlett wore to Ashley's birthday party in Gone With the Wind?

  • Mmm, that's interesting, I hadn't thought about it, but it perfectly could be. I assumed it was black because of the black&white. If it's not the same dress, they really resemble.

  • Me too, but the dress was a dark burgundy red color so it might appear to look like black in black & white. But remember, David O. Selznick who was the producer of Rebecca, was also the prducer for GWTW and both movies were made around the same time.

  • Yes, I knew that already. It makes it even more likely. Interesting!

  • Exactly :)

  • The pretty dresses are the black one at 0:45 and the last one at 2:40 :)

  • Agree. I love light dresses, like the last one.

  • I like big puffy dresses too, like in Gone With the Wind, but some of these were just too much.

  • I love period dresses as well, with those wonderful crinolines, like the ones in "Gone With the Wind", "Little Women", etc. But I don´t like the french Revolution kind, like the first one. The others, aren't very becoming, the way I see it.

  • No I agree, dresses like the first are terribly tasteless in my opinion. Much too crassly opulent. And they're much too heavy with ribbons and lace to the point where it just becomes too overdone. Less is more in this case.

  • I absolutely agree, that look is way overdone.

  • Definitely. There's a fine line between exquisite and tacky. That dress is unquestionably tacky.

  • Awesome Hahahaha

  • This was a Selznick International picture and that was the same Selznick International that made "Gone With the Wind". Joan Fontaine looks to be wearing Scarlett O'Hara's burgundy birthday party dress and wedding dress for the tests. Look 43 seconds in and 1:09 minutes into the clip.

  • That first costume looked like something from GWTW.

  • There is a new DVD remastered version from MGM due to be released in October, 2008. Check Amazon. The new DVD is supposed to have some of the extras that the Criterion had.

  • Thanks for the info! :)

  • Where on earth did you get this?? Her facial expression looks like she might as well be going to a funeral. I thought the black dress was the only decent looking one out of them all. Great clip. Thanks.

  • I'm so glad they picked the outfits they did... some of these are truly cringe-worthy, I agree!

This is from the Criterion two-disk release of 'Rebecca'... the whole second DVD is filled with extras. I'd highly recommend getting it if you don't already have a copy of the movie.

Thanks for asking & glad you enjoyed it!

  • I have the movie, but had a heck of a time getting it. Had to resort to ebay. All the instructions are written in Korean which I cannot read. The movie is in great condition though, but there's no extra commentary at all, aarghh! I wish I could've gotten a better version somewhere. All of the classics I own are great, and didn't have a bit of trouble getting them. Keep making tributes. Thanks.

  • Your second video! This is cool!

  • I've never seen that b4. thanks. :)
