It comes from a Berber Name.."Adrar n Dern" It means The Mountain of the Mountains..

I agree. We drove through in 2005. Fantasic. Beautiful. I will never forget it. Everybody, see it if you can. Lovely mineral colours in the rocks... green blue red orange yellow, every colour.
