I would have more respects if they enforced traffic laws that do affect road safety, like running red lights, drunk driving, etc. The fact that their draconian enforcement has incentives attached to it should offend any motorist driving in the UK.
I don`t see a problem - driving with "German style" number plates. I dare say there are plenty of Germans driving on UK roads ( esp. in the Summer ) with German plates.

@colliecandle Number plates are coloured for two main reasons: 1) It allows people to identify which way the vehicle is facing if, for instance, it's parked at the roadside at night (which is also why they are reflective); 2) The yellow reflective material on rear number plates reduces glare from headlights of following vehicles. The law is the law. Bottom line. If you decide to fall foul of it, you will draw attention to yourself and you should be prepared to accept the consequences.

@colliecandle If I'm a bit late in on this argument forgive me, but it's not as easy to differentiate between the front and the back of a car when it's at night on unlit roads. Hence the strict rules on the colours allowed on each side of a vehicle.
For the people arguing about the video - it's been mirrored, use better descriptive terms. There's little point in "mirroring" the audio - YouTube's fingerprinting software ignores flipped audio but I'd guess can't deal with mirrored video.

I think my earlier comment was anti sexist. ie> female soldiers carry far more kit and don't complain. So this police officer should wake up to the realities of modern policing. A better example may have been female firefighters.

The reason the video is mirrored is that there are copyright laws stopping the distribution of the video or audio AS BROADCASTED ORIGINALLY, so if the image is flipped it isn't "as broadcast".

@colliecandle Number plates are coloured for two main reasons: 1) It allows people to identify which way the vehicle is facing if, for instance, it's parked at the roadside at night (which is also why they are reflective); 2) The yellow reflective material on rear number plates reduces glare from headlights of following vehicles. The law is the law. Bottom line. If you decide to fall foul of it, you will draw attention to yourself and you should be prepared to accept the consequences.

As I said in my previous comment, the law is the law, "PERIOD". It's easy for Joe Public to object to a law (or "statute") without being in possession of the facts about WHY it is in place at all. In this case, The DVLA has ruled that only vehicles registered before 1973 may have white or silver lettering on black. End of debate.

@colliecandle If I'm a bit late in on this argument forgive me, but it's not as easy to differentiate between the front and the back of a car when it's at night on unlit roads. Hence the strict rules on the colours allowed on each side of a vehicle.
For the people arguing about the video - it's been mirrored, use better descriptive terms. There's little point in "mirroring" the audio - YouTube's fingerprinting software ignores flipped audio but I'd guess can't deal with mirrored video.

They were more overweight, couldn't carry as much weight and complained more than their male counterparts. A female perfect score on the PT test is the same as a mans passing score.You put the average female cop against the average male suspect and she'll lose.

The reason the video is mirrored is that there are copyright laws stopping the distribution of the video or audio AS BROADCASTED ORIGINALLY, so if the image is flipped it isn't "as broadcast".
