I found it odd that a senator would have a problem with Bobby getting a tax write off. The reduction in taxes would be less than what he paid for the land.
Bobby uses his politics along with his business sense to make a compromise between the two warring organizations. I think Miss Ellie was longsuffering enough as Jock sat by and let JR send Gary away, and try to drive Bobby away as well.
@MrsBobbyJamesEwing After the hearing, Ray realized that he was the cause of the friction and offered to give up his part in the Ewing trust, Miss Ellie cried, everybody hugged, and it was over.
The incidental music at the end of this scene was written by someone who was defintely imitating the symphonic music of Carl Nielsen. Specifically from 2'55" there is a motiff that is unmistakeably from Nielsen - I can't recall which symphony it's from either 2 or 3 or 4!!

Bobby was a terrific State senator.

I wish that the writers would have continued with the storyline of Bobby as senator instead of dropping it.
MrsBobbyJamesEwing 4 years ago
I agree but I assume that the writers preferred he and JR have friction instead.
