  • Out of all the places, I never dreamnt of seeing this in my country! At least not in this decade..wow! what a moment this is!

    Proud of you Delhi!!

    Let love lead the way!

  • What an amazing historical moment this is for India! My prayers and good wishes are with them all. May God continue to give them the strength and courage to push on and make progress!

  • I smiled so wide when I saw this. I can't imagine what it was like to actually be there! So happy for you!!! :)

  • I am SOO proud of you guys! :)!! Good Job! And it is a great moment for India! Can't wait for the day when India will have a full blown pride just like Toronto. I went this year and it was awesome! Although Pride is primarily thought of being for the LGBT commmunity, there were thousands of straight people there just like myself. To me, pride is all about being yourself and being proud of it, no matter what sexual orientation you are!

  • Its great moment for India...I am so proud of all the people who participated..

  • This continues to say a great deal about the quality of the Indian spirit and people. An all consuming religion and a loving people. Jai Hind...

  • May I just say WHOOPIE!

  • Oh what I missed! Work it Mario! I am soooooo happy for Delhi.

  • That's my Mario right out in front. Where you should be. Go, Mario! <3

  • I'm so happy that Delhi finally got its Gay Pride. I remember marching in Kolkata in 1999 for the first gay pride march in India (we called it the Freedom March). There were 10-15 marchers. Now it has spread to three cities and thousands of marchers. Its time to come out, Indian gays and lesbians!

  • This pride march along with the one in Bangalore and Kolkata the best news for me this Pride season! I am really surprised why Mumbai is still not marching! BJP should be happy we are asking the courts to dump the British Raj law which supposedly reflects non-hindu ideology.

  • Simply amazing!! This is such a huge step. Here's hoping next year's parade is even bigger and louder. Thanks for sharing.

    vodka_rani, a desidyke.

  • Way to go, Delhi!!!!!

Best wishes from a lesbian mom in Toronto, Canada! [recently back from Bangalore, Delhi, and Leh]

    love, Heather

  • India's mainstream conservative opposition party BJP said they disagreed with the pride parade (they say it is against family values) but made clear they wouldn't counter-protest. That was a nice development, considering that Bulgarian capital's first gay pride the same day was attacked by rocks, petrol bombs etc something which did not happen in the streets of Delhi / Bangalore / Kolkata / Puducherry.

  • Your country legally recognizes gay marriages, whereas in my country the "act of unnatural sex" is still criminalized, though the ban is not enforced. A constitutional challenge against this archaic law is moving very slowly, but in the meantime gays have started coming out in this conservative society, and the media is welcoming them. The media's progressiveness is one MAJOR factor why the gays felt comfortable to come out in the pride parade.

  • We are still decades behind you in gay rights, but we are DEFINITELY moving in the positive territory, which is inspiring. Some politicians (mainly the liberal feminist politicians) have already started expressing their support to the queer movement. And that is good.

  • BRILLIANT ! iNDIA IS REALLY PROGRESSING FORWARD.

  • THis is simply amazing. while I was back in Delhi 5 years ago, it was unimaginable. Thanks so much for posting this video, it was an amazing feeling watching these people parade with so much pride.

*Could you please tag this video under "Delhi", "Gay", "Parade", etc, so that it shows up instantly when people search for "delhi gay pride" or "gay paradE". Thanks a lot!!
