And then again, why would I buy an original copy that is hard to find and expensive for a game that I can buy it digitally for only $9.99. The PSN version is exactly the same as the PS1 version. Im not a fan collector this is my first MGS game I've played so why go with all these trouble?
#1- Last time I checked out, any PlayStation 3 console has the abillity to read PSOne games (even if you insert a disc). Only the 60 GB version has the ability to still read a few PlayStation 2 games.
#2- I'm not really sure if the downloadable version you got is exactly the same as the one that was released in the CD. I mean, did they alter anything in it, by any chance ?

This scene is completely ruined thanks to the terrible voice acting. All the pretty graphics in the world won't make a scene believable - good voice acting does that, which the original Metal Gear Solid had in abundance.

It is not the same person. And sorry for claiming a wrong title - the 4th MGS is named 'Guns of the Patriots'. The cyborg ninja you see in 'Metal Gear Solid 2' is actually Olga trying to pull off an impression. But when I saw that for the first time, I really didn't believe it was Gray Fox himself. Not only because he doesn't have a cyclops' eye on his mask, but also because he still has both arms. Also, he was already dead.
@TFDFT just so you know, MGS TS is the remake of MGS1, which takes place before MGS2. MGS2 is after the shadow M incident, and its MGS3 that is the first one timeline wise. i think your mixing your games up here m8.
as for gray fox, he's supposedly dead in MGS1, but its said his memory's where recovered, which would have made it possible to have him return. altho the game's series have never focussed on that part anymore whatsoever, so gray fox had been forgotten in the events for MGS4. simple.

For the most part, I this cutscene is almost as good as the original except for one thing.
In this version, Grey Fox is shown to be in pain and, maybe it's just me, but Grey Fox doesn't seem like the kind of guy to cry out in pain. I mean, Raiden doesn't cry out in pain and we all know Fox shits all over Raiden.
All the voice acting in the twin snakes is the same and Mie Ling has an american accent in the Twin Snakes because she was born and raised in america. David Hayter gave half his pay to those same actors to do the remake but he couldn't get the same voice actor to do grey fox. But the new voice actor who does grey fox in twin snakes is ok to me.
Apparently the original voice of Gray Fox actually did reprise one of his roles in TTS as Colonel Anderson. The new Fox voice actor is okay but he reminded me a lot of Throttle from Biker Mice from Mars. I did some research and it's the same guy.
on the manual for the MGS ps one version it says under the ninja character description that the Ninja has fast movement and his samurai sword can cut through metal, steal like butter which is why you see the Nina cutting through concrete and steal/metal and has bullet time in the Twin Snake cut scenes.
I Just Completed this quality game Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes on normal difficulty with no alerts, no kills, no continues and no rations used and collected all the Weapons and got Bandanna which gives you unlimited ammo. I have the PS One version as well but play it on the PS2. I got All 4 of the MGS series.

@gilamunja "the cutscenes in this game shit all over any modern game out these days" Hell, these cutscenes are better than scenes from many so called classic movies.
They truly are one of the biggest fans to have remade the game for the other fans of MGS. The naysayers are just purists who don't want to admit that Twin Snakes is better, or at the very least, just as good as the original(except for the blasted matrix maneuvers given to Snake). But they wont say perhaps because they feel they'll be disloyal or some stupid shit to the series.
Rex seems to walk a lot slower than the original PS1 version. Plus, why did the cockpit open slightly slowing liquid when the radome was yet to be destroyed.
no matter how many mgs (spinoffs) there is to come, this will be the one and only best scene in the whole series. i just wanted to drop the controller and hope this game is a movie.

This scene is mother fucking awesome. Grey Fox wanted to die and he went out total fucking bad ass kamikaze style. Next to Snake is he is the best character in the entire series.
I found it funny how everyone kept saying "Zanzibar Land" instead of ever shortening it to Zanzibar. Silly change. Out of all the new cutscenes the only 2 good, fitting ones involved Gray Fox. Those 2 being the Ninja killing the guards in the hallway and this. All the other changes were either silly matrix moves or just inferior to the original in 1 way or another. I gotta hand it to Cam Clarke though. He only improved.
Although the majority of ppl hated or just disliked the twin snakes, I find it kinda interesting how metal gear REX's roars were reused from this game, rather than the original. It was used in Smash bros(although of course Nintendo was gonna use their version of MGS) and in Little Big Planet, which is a playstation game.
as much as I liked the Twin Snakes recreation with the MGS2 Graphic engine, and the re dubbing of all of the voices with some adlibbed lines in the conversations, the original Ill always favor over this one. Something about the PS1 version just made it far more memorable for me

the remake? Just because Sony fans dislike the remake being made on a nintendo console does not mean their irrationality blinds their judgment. Because I as a player respect the original one and i grew playing MGS in the Play station but facing the facts the remake is far better and why did i bought it? because i consider it one of the best metal gears game ever made. The remake is not just graphic improvement but also, themes, attacks, interactions and so on. In conclusion, remake is better.
All the bosses in the original metal gear solid had the same music....it was boring but well it was epic at that time, on the other hand the remake has not the same music for every boss battle, the only one gets repeated is the HIND fight and the Metal Gear Rex fight, Ocelot has his own theme, The Battle Tank, Gray FOX, Psycho Manthys, Sniper Wolf, The Hind, Vulcan Raven has their own theme. Metal Gear Rex has the one the hind had and liquid got his own theme...so how could the original beat..

Also the songs are so much better than the original ones just hear "Manthys theme" from Psycho mantys, are you gonna argue that that theme is not epic? oh please...
The remake "IS BETTER" than the original. I still respect the original one from being the one which started this thing; However, the remake has both elements from the MGS2 and the original one, plus adding some awesome cutscenes that are far superior than the original ones that is why this game is called a "remake" it has to be better than the original one. In the original one the acting and voice cast sucked you've got to accept that wheter your like it or not (at that time it was awesome)

@filipeflower You are correct. I played through my old copies of the original MGS and RE 1 through 3 on my PS3. It's pretty seamless.
Some of the PS1 downloadable titles work pretty well. I recently downloaded "Symphony of the NIght" and I haven't had any problems with it yet.

@VideoGameMaster007 Thats a DAMN good question. BOTH of them R real bad-asses of the MGS universe, they were soldiers since they were kids, they're ex-FOXHOUND, & 2 top it of tey're good with swords. I think personally it would B a VERY nasty draw between these 2.

@VideoGameMaster007 Agian, A DAMN good question. BOTH of them R extreme hard-asses & have been through all sorts of heavy crap & still camne out on top. HOWEVER, Big Boss (with the help of the Boss) invented the CQC system. So he's got an advantage 2 an extent unless Snake pulls a magic move out of thin air.

Thanks to Silicon Knights for making this remake.
They truly are one of the biggest fans to have remade the game for the other fans of MGS. The naysayers are just purists who don't want to admit that Twin Snakes is better, or at the very least, just as good as the original(except for the blasted matrix maneuvers given to Snake). But they wont say perhaps because they feel they'll be disloyal or some stupid shit to the series.

Rex seems to walk a lot slower than the original PS1 version. Plus, why did the cockpit open slightly slowing liquid when the radome was yet to be destroyed.

I found it funny how everyone kept saying "Zanzibar Land" instead of ever shortening it to Zanzibar. Silly change. Out of all the new cutscenes the only 2 good, fitting ones involved Gray Fox. Those 2 being the Ninja killing the guards in the hallway and this. All the other changes were either silly matrix moves or just inferior to the original in 1 way or another. I gotta hand it to Cam Clarke though. He only improved.

Although the majority of ppl hated or just disliked the twin snakes, I find it kinda interesting how metal gear REX's roars were reused from this game, rather than the original. It was used in Smash bros(although of course Nintendo was gonna use their version of MGS) and in Little Big Planet, which is a playstation game.

as much as I liked the Twin Snakes recreation with the MGS2 Graphic engine, and the re dubbing of all of the voices with some adlibbed lines in the conversations, the original Ill always favor over this one. Something about the PS1 version just made it far more memorable for me

the remake? Just because Sony fans dislike the remake being made on a nintendo console does not mean their irrationality blinds their judgment. Because I as a player respect the original one and i grew playing MGS in the Play station but facing the facts the remake is far better and why did i bought it? because i consider it one of the best metal gears game ever made. The remake is not just graphic improvement but also, themes, attacks, interactions and so on. In conclusion, remake is better.

All the bosses in the original metal gear solid had the same music....it was boring but well it was epic at that time, on the other hand the remake has not the same music for every boss battle, the only one gets repeated is the HIND fight and the Metal Gear Rex fight, Ocelot has his own theme, The Battle Tank, Gray FOX, Psycho Manthys, Sniper Wolf, The Hind, Vulcan Raven has their own theme. Metal Gear Rex has the one the hind had and liquid got his own theme...so how could the original beat..

But admit it the remake has many things that made the game far better than the original for example toying with the genome soldiers and the interaction you have with them is unique, pretty much like MGS2 a thing that in the original one didn't have because the genome soldiers were stupid back then, now you can have fun with them. Also the songs are so much better than the original ones just hear "Manthys theme" from Psycho mantys, are you gonna argue that that theme is not epic? oh please...

The remake "IS BETTER" than the original. I still respect the original one from being the one which started this thing; However, the remake has both elements from the MGS2 and the original one, plus adding some awesome cutscenes that are far superior than the original ones that is why this game is called a "remake" it has to be better than the original one. In the original one the acting and voice cast sucked you've got to accept that wheter your like it or not (at that time it was awesome)

the remake looks ok. It can't be as good as the original, but it still looks awesome. The matrix style bullet dodging is kinda cheesy though. Sick of seeing it in almost every game of the era.
