Like I have always said there is no reason that there is homelessness, hunger, or sickness in this world. We have enough to make all the basic needs met for everyone. Its wrong in my eyes that some people suffer while other have too much. I agree with you totally make the playing field even get rid of money and go to the barter system where we can all learn from each other. Money has brought nothing but pain and suffering into this world and its caused too many deaths
The world needs a wake up call, when someone has a near death experience they reassess their life and what is really important, this is what is needed on a global scale. : )
@rosiebgocats1 Kathleen Keating suggests in her novels that a great warning will occur that is pretty much exactly what you've suggested. Everyone sees their actions through everyone's eyes...feels the hurt caused along with the good they've done, basically a global life review. I think that many people (myself included) who see themselves as good will be shocked and hurt by how selfish they are. I try to review my actions daily, but I only see through my imagination. Wait til it's real.

It reminds me of something I read: the Warning given at Garabandal,the Warning would be like a revelation of our sins, and it would be seen and experienced equally by believers and non-believers and people of any religion whatsoever. @rosiebgocats1 Keating definitely draws on Garabandal and other Marian apparitions. I don't accept apparitions just because somebody thinks s/he saw Mary. But the concept of a world-wide wake-up call via an NDE-like life review for the living is interesting and appealing. And I know I will suffer deeply in such a warning, but I think it is in everyone's best interest to review themselves before God does--to at least try to see things from His perspective.
All human endeavor is driven by attraction and repulsion. Most of us are are attracted to (greedy for) wealth/security and fear (are repulsed by) poverty/insecurity. @oOo, I'm going to play atheist's advocate. Why should I care about other people as long as I'm rich? Why should I not exploit others to the max the way banksters do as long as I can get away with it?
I like your thoughts and the desires you have for all of us to do what we can to make sure everyone has the basics. I wish for this to happen with my whole heart for everyone. I pray for those who frankly have nothing or next to nothing also. I do what I can to help others out whenever I can financially and materially but I know it is not enough. I think we all have an obligation to help our neighbors, to inquire if they have needs. etc. You are a very good man, Soldier
GIVE no man anything except knowledge. SHOW him how to obtain. Otherwise its a welfare system and it wont last forever. Not to mention it throws natural selection out the window. On its ass. Personal responsibility and self-reliance is where it starts. Greed is not so easily rooted out. Its inherently human and comes with survival, to an extent. So again, personal responsibility. Problem is...how do you MAKE people grow up without FORCING them? This is where the conundrum music comes in.....

The point is made that, no matter how much we try to make all things equal for all people, that something (in the case of the movie, it's Rachel Weiss) will be a subject of greed/envy/desire/attachment/jealousy. Maybe it would be beach front property or who gets the penthouse suite or whatever, but there will always be haves and have nots.
@keats27 so share the beach front property. And the penthouse. It's all about helping each other. We can grow consciously to extraordinary levels once we lift the restrains that have confined mankind since the beginning of it's time.

Learn to do good to maintain appearances, and do evil as long as you can get away with it? Control others? OR Turn the other cheek (don't be provoked), love your neighbor, everything you do to the least of my brothers, judge not because by your own measure, self-control guided by compassion and the knowledge that we all matter?
@keats27 considering our entire system is upside down, I think what ever it is we're teaching out kids, we MUST teach them the opposite. Simple enough no?
For instance. Instead of trying to keep up with the Jones's, Learn to work together so you both can have all you desire. Like hauling buckets of water to a fire. Do you think you can hall more buckets by yourself 100', or would it be better to work with one another and form an assembly line? That's a no brainer.
