Van Halen's first album was produced by the same guys as the Doobies...Ted Templeman and Don Landee. Same studio. Same 427 ms delay on the guitar. Same warm, majestic tone. Gene Simmons from Kiss produced a demo of Van Halen's first album in NYC a year earlier and it was missing this feel. The Doobies sound is why VH became so huge...just sayin...
