  • God Almighty! The CPO made a terrific job of this. It's stunning. A classic Danny Elfman piece if ever there was. Classic film. I was one of many who got swept away in the mass hysteria back in '89 when this came out. It still looks as cool today as it did back then. Good times.

  • so powerful!!!

  • I still prefer this theme than the ones in the Nolan films. This just screams orchestra, isn't dragging, and has many layers and textures.

  • LEGO Batman was an awesome game!

  • @MrGatonegroish They're making a second one, scheduled to release this year!

  • @GunnytheBunny1 I know buddy...

  • do da da dooo doooooo doo do da doooo doo dooooooooooooooo best part

  • You know what? I may just watch this movie tonight! Just for the hell of it!

  • I'm not shitting you. I heard this on the science channel when they showed the probe going to saturn! I was like wtf awesome!

  • the better batman song

  • All time favorite movie. I have watched this more times then the date the movie was made!

  • @funzi159 That's just my opinion :)

  • @MrSuperbad1234 That's just MY opinion (: I thought the 60s batman was pretty good.

  • @Redrobin1301 It was not bad, it was creation of its time!! I think we have to consider it nice as a pop art work rather than a real Batman movie/tv series!! There were a lot of elements that have influenced our culture, like the use of Bat on every gadget and "Holy whatever" as an exclamation!! Plus, the Batmobile is an icon of movie cars, and always will be!! :)

  • If you listen to this theme over and over again you can notice how the details are considered, the touch of the strings, the horn sections, the drums, timpani and cymbals, everything is perfect in this theme!! The progression of the chords is incredible, and the changes in time and movements are so amazing!! This is Music with capital letters, a real masterpiece, something immortal and which is so tied to the character and the movie!! Danny Elfman is a pure, brilliant genius!!

  • Tim Burton = best director for a Batman movie.

  • @AlexDIIM Agreed!

  • Michael Keaton=best Batman

  • The order of the batman movies from best to worst.

    1) Batman 1989

    2) Batman TDK

    3) Batman Returns

    4) Batman Begins

    5) Batman 1960s

    6) Batman Forever

    7) Batman and Robin

  • @Redrobin1301

Dude, I know your'e not leaving out Mask of the Phantasm!

  • @Redrobin1301 Man im just saying... Batman Forever was kinda good in its own way.... Besides that god awful 2 face XD.... But come on... The 1960's batman was horrible... ( Least I think so ) So come on.... Move Forever up a little ;)....

  • 11 ppl are, joker, mr freeze, penguin, two face, poison ivy, bane, rahs a gul, the mad hatter, the riddler, clay face, and killer moth.

  • 11 people are henchmans from the joker...

  • The best Batman theme ever composed. The Dark Knight trilogy pales in comparison.

  • The genious Danny Elfman, yep, the same who writes the Simpsons overture :P

  • I have to admit, though I like the new Batman movies better, this one had the best theme!

  • @DarkPareidolia True; and this is not subjective; this theme is both dark and heroic and once listened to, you will always identify the tune to Batman; just like the Jhon Williams score for Superman the movie gave us the definitive Superman theme.

  • the 11 dislikes are the Joker

  • You wanna get Nuts! Lets get Nuts!

    God i love this movie

  • batman and robin is surely the worst one , george clooney doesn't fit as batman really ..

  • Einer meiner Lieblings Filme

  • After so long, still such a Masterpiece..........

  • wtf??? where is 480p???? xDDD

  • THE TIMING FOR THIS SONG AND THE PART IN BATMAN ARKHAM CITY WHERE YOU CLIMB UP TO YOUR BAT SUIT (without stopping, and grab onto the first ledge at 0:45) ARE SO IN SYNC, ITS RIDICULOUS. Very peculiar that Bruce says "right on time" in the end too...

  • @medhathobo that is exactly what I am doing :) I love you man

  • The dark knight.

    Masterpiece.

  • Batman

    The Dark Knight

    Batman Returns

    Batman Begins

    Batman Forever

    Batman (1960's)

    Batman and Robin

That's my list from best to worst!

  • @Trayusstudent1 Amen my friend,amen.

  • Batman 89

    Returns

    Batman Begins

    The Dark Knight

    Forever

    Batman and Robin

    ^^ My favorite to least.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Nolan's Batman movies but god damn! Batman, Batman Returns and Batman forever is where it's fucking at!!!!

  • @SarbazRMB I agree I love Nolan's Flicks and I still think Batman Begins is Better than the Dark Knight but I still think Burton's two films feel more like Batman and Batman's world than Nolan's films

  • @SarbazRMB Batman forever was meh

  • I plan to disclaim this for fighting purposes. Basically in my version of Wakko's Wish, Dot dies and Background Singer fights Wizard Waldo to get her back.

  • this has put a smile on my face :)

  • I watched the 1989 Batman so many times!

  • Cymbals are a bit too bright/excessive in this mix, and tempo is a bit too peppy. Overall, still awesome though.

  • wonderful theme..

  • This and Spiderman are the best Elfman scores I've heard.

  • Take a deep breath. You can smell it. You can taste it. It's good ol' nostalgia...

  • BEST CHIT EVER

  • Danny elfman's masterpiece

  • Batman begis begins is good, but THIS theme gives me goosebumps every time!

  • john williams sorry! bu they're both fantastic

  • @Jormungandor

Modern composers seems to be content simply to follow and emphasize the dominant themes of the movie rather than bringing their own perspective and trying to bring their own stories to bear on the material. It's more subservient to the director's view, which may be what is wanted, but is less likely to create moments of unforgettable beauty. Modern scores tend to be very obvious, raising the heart rate appropriately when the movie is watched, but being somewhat forgettable after.

  • @Jormungandor

Also, Hans Zimmer-style scores are built to complement the action and emphasize it, rather than telling a story and presenting a different angle that may provide a counterpoint to the visuals. Consider (for example) Blade Runner, where Vangelis goes in a direction that is non-obvious, emphasizing the beauty of the world and its dream-like quality rather than taking the obvious route of emphasizing its harshness and accenting the beats of an action scene.

  • @Jormungandor

Okay, layman's translation: most modern film scoring uses predominantly neutral notes rather than sharps or flats. On a piano, that means white keys with very few blacks. Sharps and flats are generally used to create a more subtle and often downbeat mood: melancholy, or sadness, or regret, or uncertainty, or mixed feelings. Using the full set of tones is called chromatic; leaving them out leaves the diatonic notes, which tend to be more upbeat, hopeful, certain and predictable.

  • @KaitainCPS In other words major scales?

  • thumbs up if this reminded you of the playstation 1 game : jersey devil ( purple devil) remember him anyone :)?

  • @Jormungandor

That's become the dominant style in the last decade, though: a diatonic wash emphasizing rhythm over melody. Very little use of leitmotif.

  • @KaitainCPS

Oh, and leitmotif is the creation of a recognizable theme that accompanies a specific character in a story. John Williams makes heavy use of leitmotif in Star Wars: there are themes composed specifically for Darth Vader, Luke, Leia, the Emperor etc. This is much less common in film scoring these days.

  • dis ma jam

  • If the 1989 Batman had Heath Ledger with the style of the Dark Horse version of the Dark Knight, this would have been the ultimate best film of the franchise!!! And no pun intend on Jack Nicholson's awesome job portraying Cesar Romero's rendition of The Joker aka the best comic book and film villain of all time!!!

  • Best theme for a film ever!!

  • best joker = heath ledger

  • @ToNzZlive

You mean Mark Hamill, right? Yeah I bet you do. Who doesn't, right?

  • @MrCowabungaa no... i mean Heath Ledger

  • @ToNzZlive jack nicholson. hands down.

  • @infraball heath ledger. hands down.

  • This Batman theme cannot be replaced! Damn how i hate the soundtrack in the new batman movies! they are too standard hollywood!

  • The best Batman movie

  • Listen to this while doing the challenge rooms or gliding through Arkham City...

  • can we stop arguing over which batman film was the best? both has its different styles to it: '89 was focused more on a macabre and more dramatic style while the dark knight was focused mainly on action and destruction. quite frankly, i find it childish when 2 generations of the same hero clash with eachother .

  • This should be the theme of arkham city

  • LOL im playing this in the Band

  • épic!

  • I am a fan of both movies. I think enjoyed Nolans films more and I thought they were over all better movies. However I think the ones Tim Burton directed captured the essence of who Batman really is better. Both though were not really direct comic book adaptions though. They both had their own styles. I for one would like to see one that really tries to stay true to the comics.

  • Tim Burtons batman movies are so much better than Christopher Nolans.

Nolan took away the fantasy element of batman which is where the beauty of batman lies, being a fantasy.

  • @riazomonero Exactly. The Dark Knight series is overrated. Christian Bale is a terrible Batman to boot.

  • Awesome orchestral version. This would be awesome to hear in a theatre.

  • Love this theme!

  • I can't hear this theme without thinking of the best Batmobile (in my opinion at least) from any of the movies. The tumbler is original, but (again in my opinion), the one from the 1989 movie (like the original 1960's television Batmobile) had a style the tumble just doesn't posses.

  • Best Batman movie of all time hands down the 1989 one.

  • @lord1night1wish hell no Dark Night is ,1989 still great but the dark night is considered a top 5 movie ever made

  • @Brando908 i cant wait for 2012 SUPERMAN with the ACTOR that just did THE IMMORTALS this SUPERMAN is going to be MORE HARDER EDGED and a MORE MODERN DARKER STYLE TO IT this DC COMICS MOVIE 2012 SUPERMAN is going to my kind of EXTREME BADASS EPIC SUPERMAN FILM ps YOUR SO RIGHT on the 1989 BATMAN FILM the REBOOT of the COME BACK from all the FUCKED UP 1990s "batman" MOVIES and thank THE GODS it was getting to LOONEY TUNES anyway i just love the way there going with 2011/2012 BATMAN

  • @lord1night1wish i say its my PERSONAL DC COMICS FILM EVER a long side with SUPERMAN and i cant WAIT to see the IMMORTALS ACTOR in the new more DARK STYLE DC COMICS 2012 FILM see him as SUPERMAN for SUPERMAN BATMAN and GHOSTRIDER and ME have some things in common

  • You know, say what you will about the 1989 film, and how it hasn't aged well, but I look at it this way personally.

You can make a Batman film as realistic, dark, and gritty as you please. However, at the end of the day, it's still about a guy who dresses up as a bat to fight a maniacal clown.

I just think Batman 89 was able to balance the inherent wackiness OF that idea and STILL be relatively dark

Don't get me wrong, I love the Dark Knight. But THIS is Batman to me.

  • @Andy2481 I don't know, I recently watched the old movies and found that they don't hold up as well as I remember. They are still great, just not as great as nostalgia would have me believe. Also Inception was not "god awful" I thought it was great but just not a mind-bending as some claim it to be. Of course you are entitled to your opinion :)

  • @AluminumHaste Keaton is the best Batman I think. 1989 Batman is really a great bad ass movie.

  • @muclesmarinara I agree, but Kevin Conroy does the best voice for Batman

  • @Mangaka463 yeah. Michael Ironside did a good Batman voice as well

  • @AluminumHaste The way I see it Nolan had a different style. It was a re-imagining so I dont see what his problem was.

  • @AluminumHaste

It does not matter how many mediocre actors you manage to gather, they cannot live up to Jack Nicholson's skill.

  • @Andy2481 I like the fact that chris nolan captured tthe essence of early 90's batman (violent, dark, gritty) so well. The Joker of the early 90's dc comics was emulated amazingly well by heath ledger (nicholson did a good early 80's late 70's batman).

  • @Andy2481 THANK YOU 4 SPEAKING THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Andy2481 so edgy

  • @Andy2481 Although I like Tim Burton movies as a kid watching them now I cant like them better than Chris Nolan's and its strictly cuz I am a Batman fan which is why I cant and that fact is Batman is not a MURDERER PERIOD!!!

  • @Andy2481 YES!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Andy2481 it's same to me

  • @Andy2481 eh dark knight was too effin long and i hated that scarcrow was in batman begins for like 5 seconds so their not great but not bad, its like the bible. seen it once you seen all of them...meh and inseption was that the one with the ghosts and the astral projection?

  • @Andy2481 I is =)

  • @Andy2481 The Dark Knight is the best batman film ever, am a big fan of Tim Burton but I think he let himself down with Batman and Batman Returns. This is my opinion but The Dark Knight out does any other batman film, Psycho Joker, Awesome Batman Actor, Awesome Alfred, Awesome Commisioner Gordon and Totally Awesome way how Dent became two-face

However you are entitled to you're own opinion.

  • @Harleyman1231 Bale's Batman is okay but his voice is awful

  • @Andy2481

    no one you dick

  • ok, who's a better composer, danny elfman(batman, the simpsons) or john williams(star wars, and indiana jones and e.t.)?

  • @MrAshhouseware I like em' both but if I had to pick? .............Elfman

  • @AluminumHaste Basil Poledouris? James Horner? The best of the best is Bernard Hermann! (Psycho, Twilight Zone, some hitchcocks). Don't forget John Barrie, too. But this is name-dropping. Twilight Zone theme is so eerie!

  • @AluminumHaste elfman also did spider-man, but id say williams.

  • @MrAshhouseware I like 'em both. I personally perfer John Wiliams.

  • @MrAshhouseware john williams

  • @MrAshhouseware Elfman is certainly better. John Williams has done nothing but take music from other composers, and tweaked it slightly and called it his own. In regards to Star Wars, look hope Gustav Holst's the planets and listen to "Mars". Williams virtually took this, changed a few notes and called it the Empire's theme. As a classically trained musician, I have nothing, not even a lack of respect for John Williams. He has made millions by copy other's music.

  • @MrAshhouseware Elfman Definately

  • @MrAshhouseware Obviously Williams... Elfman is still an apprentice. However he's incredible better than Hans Zimmer.

  • @MrAshhouseware John Williams, he is the BEST composer ever. He made such great songs, the only good songs Elfman did were the batman songs, Williams did Star Wars, Indy, Et, Jurassic Park and many other classics. thank you

P.S All of that was in my opinion

  • @MrAshhouseware John Williams. Elfman music is kind of jokish, Williams is military brass. ;)

  • @MrAshhouseware This song is good though. Why I looked it up.

  • @MrAshhouseware Danny Elfman without a doubt :)

  • @MrAshhouseware John Williams HANDS DOWN!

  • @MrAshhouseware that question is just a matter of opinion. John Williams has more famous songs but its just a matter of what you prefer! :)

  • @MrAshhouseware That's hard as hell, but I'd have to go with Williams. The soundtrack for Star Wars was just godly especially the intro and the Imperial Death March(Darth Vader's theme).

  • @MrAshhouseware

Williams. Greater range. Elfman is easier to recognize than Williams, because he uses the same style almost all the time. (Almost all of his work has a "madcap circus" feel to it.)

  • @MrAshhouseware elfman

sorry... as much as i like indiana jones and star wars

batman theme by elfman is way too epic to beat

  • @MrAshhouseware

Williams by a long shot, but that doesn't mean Elfman isn't a great composer.

  • @MrAshhouseware Serious? John Williams: On top of what you mentioned there is also: Jaws, Schindler's List (for which he won one of his 5 Oscars) the first 3 Harry Potters, Jurassic Park, Superman, Hook, Home Alone, and more. And he's been nominated for 45 Academy Awards to Danny Elfman's 4. That all being said, this is a fantastic score and the only one I feel is truly fitting for Batman. Much better than Zimmer.

  • Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, E.T, Batman, <3

  • Reminds me of Arkham Asylum

  • 9 joker thugs got RAWKED and tied up by batman

  • is it strange that i got goosebumps???!!! BATMAN ROCKS!!!! =D im looking for the song that comes out at the end of the movie. where hes looking up at the sky.

  • to this day I still wish i woulda carved the symbol into my hair like so many of the other kids in 89

  • lego batman the videogame? O.o

  • @JW95100 No you fool don't disrespect batman with that.

  • @quechus13 XDDDDXD

  • Really Awesome. I LOVE IT.

  • this is what we play in my band

  • This theme was 'borrowed' heavily from the great BERNARD HERRMANN. It's an awesome score, but let's give credit where it's due. BH was and still is the greatest film composer to come around (IMHO)

  • 8 people are batman's Supervillains.

  • Ah This music is great! Reminds me of the days when Catwoman in the films was allowed to actually look like Catwoman in the movies....

  • I put this on while playing Arkham Asylum..... gonna do the same for Arkham City XD CANT WAIT, DARK KNIGHT RISES AND ARKHAM CITY AAAAAAHHHGGGGG

    ok breath deeply and slowly

  • Hell Yeah Danny Elfman!!

  • Same as The cartoon :P Thumbs up Bitches !!

  • oh man...great

  • i really like ALL of the batman themes songs but my fave is the 60's one :P

  • @OJ010101 DUHNUHNUHNUHNUHNUHNUHNUH NUH-BATMAN!

  • The music for this movie was great.....but the 1989-1997 Batman movies sucked ass...

  • I love this theme but fuck did he go overboard with the cymbals at the start!

  • Gentleman let's broaden our minds!

    Lawrence!!

  • where's the badass drum beat?

  • @Troyocorus yep, this is what I mean, it's too horny (lol) It's just not as rich and full (bass) sounding as the original

  • 2nd best sound...

  • The only good things about Burtons Batman movies are:

    Jack Nicholsons Joker

    Danny Elfmans music.

  • @MaxDamageProductions i disagree, heath ledger managed to capture the darker late 80's early 90's Joker. That was a time when batman comics (dc in general really, death of superman fall of batman) got really dark and grittier story lines werepresented. For me thats the "golden age" of comics. Rather than fighting the killer croc or raz al ghul they brought in chracters like zsasz, who is a mindless killer who has deep seeded problems with women, its a more noir and dark batman

  • So, they DARE laugh at MY boner, do they?! I'll show them! I'll show them how many boners the Joker can make!!!

  • Sounds great, but, i think it needs a little more cowbell...

  • Check out the Powerglove cover

  • This theme is so good as Zimmer and J. Newton Howard's theme.

  • DARK KNIGHT FTW!!!!!!!!

    best movie EVER!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • 5 people dislike this: joker, penguin, scarecrow, two-face and ra's al ghul

  • The Best Movie of Batman, Michael keaton & Jack nicholson

  • Richmond, VA beats the shit out of Cincinnati

  • Este tema es el mejor, rompe culos por docenas, y por cada vez que lo escuchas en algún lugar del mundo muere un pingüino

  • Haha!! wow it's been like a decade that I haven't heard that music

    still Amazingly Epic \m/

    Best Batman Theme hands down

  • thanx for uploading an hd version!

  • This makes the old child me smile inside.

  • Awww, the sound i grew up on.Batman...The original was great in its own sense that michael keaton and jack nicholson could never be replaced. The new ones are great but i remember Batman dropping the joker to his doom, and the laugh of his toy when he was dead and still smiling...good memories.

  • oh yeah lego batman theme haha

  • this is a gr
