Detonation or not ... the neighbors must love you!!!
I inadvertently achieved detonation with my pulsejet engine by injecting O2 into the combustion chamber. It blew all the reed valves threw the valve plate. LOL
Wow way to go. I call mine explosive resonators because the smart people at NASA and John Hopkins said that we are to stupid to make a pulse detonation motor. They are far superior to pulse jets. How about that blast. They also said that you can not make one for propane. Also they don't get hot because they are efficient. The experts had all the money, materials, and fuels in the world and they do not know what you know. You sure got a lot of comments.
pretty sure its just your combustion chamber man. do a little more research, there are free plans on the web, and youll be golden dude. hope you work out the kinks!
You will not be able to achieve detonation with ambient air. You need to use pure O2 and combustant at near stoichiometric mixtures. Then try a single blast first. Oh, and your pipe needs to be at least 4 inches in diameter and a meter or so more long. Get a single detonation first and you'll think a bomb has gone off. Then try to get 2 in a row a second or more apart. Then try to get repetitious, high hertz pulses.
I worked with true PDE's in Russia in the early '90's. If that was detonation, your pipe would get red hot. Not to mention the noise everyone else has been talking about. The engine I was working with was ina sound proof lab, then we were in the other room wearing ear plugs and ear muffs and it was still really loud. If you have just a single detonation burst in a metal pipe that is not cooled it will heat up so much that the next cycle will combust when it contacts the red-hot walls.
Wow, second time I've seen someone make this claim. Read my comments posted on OZPULSE1's video. Your design suffers from the same problem as his. If you insist on using LPG, you must increase the diameter of your tube, and lengthen the tube to allow for deflagration-to-detonation transition to take place.
if you could detonate that fuel in that tube you would not exist any more , a detonation would kill you break all glasses around your house, and deafen your neigbors, but nice try, if you want to see what a detonation is compare your thing with a pipe bomb, im not saying make one but just watch the video then you will see the difference
It is made from a Cast Iron combustion chamber with a mild steel tailpipe. The fuel is propane and the ignition is a high powered jacobs ladder circuit going through a spark plug.
Btw when you're next to it or even 20 metres from it, it makes your ears ring which is why if you make one, invest in some really good ear muffs.
one question: do your neighbours call the cops very often? jesus christ that was loud, what uses does it have apart form making people think that there is some kind of war going on in your house? 5*
It is a small version of the same engine that im going to build for my kart. This engine has enough thrust to push itself along the floor so I anchored it with batteries.
It would be very powerful if the fuel air mix & detonation were accurately modulated at around 30Hz

How did you build this? Did you have instructions? It's very cool...

I'd have thought with a bit of fine tuning you'll have this running like a treat

very well, but i think you must not keep those batteries near hot engines that blow flames

its very cool, but i can say that is NOT detonation, that is deflagration, as detonation will be louder and sharper than that.

Nice work in all your vids! Instant Sub.

Even if this is not a real PDE, I guess you still can power a small cart with this,I guess. Nice work.
