When you sat into your car on the video I was taken back thirty some years and just for a fleeting moment I could even smell the factory interior smell and remember the feel of the one I had so long ago...I'm so jealous...but happy for you too...
In 1977 I had a 1964 Acadian Beaumont with a 327, a car very much like the Malibu...Dumb kid that I was I street raced it through a fence and totalled it while wasting my time on a car that couldn't stand in it's shadow...Big time hurt there...now I have a worked 1980 Malibu which will only see action on the dragstrip, screw street racing and the thugs that cause you to wreck out there...not to mention the innocents I could have hurt...
sigh we had a 65 malibu gold and black but my daddy went and turned in a racing car :-( then he sold the engine and all that stuff... now he is thinking of putting a 500-700 hp engine in it... its blue nowadays :-P
Its so beautiful... My dad has a piece of junk '65 malibu that has been sitting in the backyard since '96. I wish he would fix it up and give it to meeee *__*
Sweet color man, my dad has one of these it was his first car since he was 16, bought it in 1970, so hes 2nd owner. '65 Malibu SS, Has the 327 but the 300 pony block. But rebuilt it back in the day and now shes at above 500 hp, with the original block. stock A/C, Am/fm radio, and 4 speed muncie M21 i believe.
THE MIDDLEWEIGHT FIGHTER! history of the red 65 L79 . i read all about this ride in the winter edition of chevelle mag.this one was meant to survive! a very interesting history. glad to see you posting it here! is this the same one i saw in the power tour at arrowhead stadium back then? i see it took 1st at the ACES midwest chevelle regionals in kansas city thats why i ask.
This car has never been on the Power Tour but it has appeared in Super Chevy, Chevelle (a Super Chevy annual), Chevy Times (Late Great Chevy club's magazine), Chevelle World (ACES' magazine) and Chevelle Report (NCOA's magazine)
wow shes had alot of coverage since then. the mag i have was back in 02'. i have been restoring my 65 since 2000 , it was my wifes grandfathers since he bought it in 65'it was a 283/powerglide. i have since opted for the 327/4speed. other than that she will remain origional and it will never part with this family.its almost finished now and i can only hope it turns out as perfect as yours!
hey thats a beautiful car i have a 65' SS also, but its all original down to the hubcaps with the 283 and the powerglide it is also one of the first one hundred off the line, thats a nice car bro
those are cool my neighbor has one of those all nice with a built 350, i got a 67 chevelle malibu with a 454, its a project right now but all the major things are bolted down. someday
Great car, nothing like an L79 but for Christ's sake stop old-farting around and drive it the way it was intended to be driven. Just kidding, the green envy made me say it.
The manifolds are stock. The mufflers are stock style (reverse flow oval body) mufflers. Originally the L79 cars also had resonators (secondary little mufflers in the tailpipes) which my car does not have at the moment. The resonators actually quiet and smooth the sound quite a bit. This lack of resonators is about the only thing not bone stock on the car aside from the wheels and tires (and I do have the original wheels and hubcaps with reproduction tires on, see my other videos).
Back in "73" a guy who I knew in high school had a red 65 Malibu SS L79. My close friend had a marina blue 66 L79 SS Nova. I bought the Nova in 74 but the motor was pulled in 73. I found the original block in 92 and it needs work but I hope to get it together one day. I forgot what a 350 cam sounded like. Sweet!! Hopefully my car will be restored one day. It has sat for 25 years waiting for that day.

Uh, no. It's a 350hp/327ci. The badge in the video clearly shows 327 and it's mentioned throughout the comments what it is.
