  • I idolize Amanda Palmer more than ANY solo entertainer. Sheer talent & class.

  • She oozes sexual energy

  • 1:02 ripped open my soul. That breathy laugh afterwards too gave me shivers, yikes.

  • Omg.....i just plAyed the song on my piano listening to this.....ya!!!!!

  • wow, you played this song on your show at mexico city and I hadn't listen to it before so I didn't recognize it but it was pretty awesome anyway!

  • wow! check my only video singing weird song in spanish, i was think i was the only crazy! love for you

  • it looks like that she is angry and is crying (p.s. i found it wirt that she rock with her hair

  • I use to want to sing perfectly like christina aguilera until I herd amanda. There is this beauty in the imperfection and basicly giving more importance to singing with emotion and pation than being in tune at all times. She is amazing.

  • omg people who say she can't sing need to open their ears to a diferent type of style. Of course R&B artists sing diferently and "perfectly". For me in amandas own style she is perfect. She has a very unic vibrato, and it is very hard to nail a yell thats in tune like her. She has an extremely wide range if you want me to get tecnical. Her music changed completely my vision of music and being a musician.

  • She is so gorgeous, talented, sexy, and amazing.

  • You nailed it Amanda.

  • in love with her

  • Amazing lyrics.....

  • Amanda Palmer makes the world colorful!

  • What Passion Would love slip inside her book

  • Oh my God I can't stop watching this video..

Probably the best performance of this song I've ever seen...

    It gives me goosebumps!

    I LOVE YOU AMANDA PALMER!!!

  • hey november 27 is my birtday, strange???????

  • im allways amazed by amanda. she has what it takes too be like really big. but she just keeps it real. just amazeing talent.

  • shes like having an orgasim while playing and singing , its so fucking awesome

  • It saddens me that people don't get the point of AFP. It isn't to be the best singer, to sell the most albums, to be the most popular. AFP is just herself without caring that she's 'unconventional' in the music industry.

Everyone should strive to be like her.

  • @AliceLynnAngel nicely said! :-)

  • @AliceLynnAngel if everyone strove to be like her. Amanda would no longer be unconventional. Instead unconventional would be the new conventional

  • @mauiaviators80 fucking good comment

  • She's so beautiful.

  • Smart Lyrics + Talent = Cool. I don't really have anything else to say.

Unless she sings Another Year...then I have a whole bunch of things to say. All wonderfull....but...lots to say

  • I've never been so in love with a musician. The sheer amount of emotion is incredible.

  • @EliasS5469 Yeah, nice shit rock, you fucking clone.

  • @EliasS5469 Ain't I fucking happy that this bitter nobody was so jealous of others sucess felt the need to post on youtube today. Jesus bloody christ, can he do it any better than her? This person cannot realize what is art.

    What a fool.

  • so fucking captivating.

  • She's beautiful.

  • That was such a raw performance. Love that girl.

  • She is so hardcore. At 32 nothing moves me anymore, rock is pretty see-through and empty to me now- but this can still get me going. One of the few artists I'd actually like to meet over a beer

  • better than gaga lady !!!!..

  • this is my favorite live performance no other singer puts such emotion into their playing and singing, shes beautiful.

  • One part actress, one part artist, one part Singer....The perfect martini

  • She seems to be driven , as if she has no other choice .Scary but beautyful.

  • The way this song climaxes is unreal.

It takes hold of me; It shoots me up into the sky...^.

All musicians should be so emotionally into the music they are playing as she is...

It's really something; the way her voice breaks... the way she shakes...

This is the way music is meant to be.

  • diamanda galas......

  • One of the best songs ever period

  • @yogsothoth2099 Piss off. No one sat you down and forced you to watch it.

Go listen to Ke$ha or some crap

  • @yogsothoth2099 That's what your dad said when your mom told him she was pregnant with you.

  • @mutinyinheav3n And you sound like a Jackass. Everyone has their Vices.

  • @yogsothoth2099 Shut up.

  • shes so fantasticly theatrical ;)

  • She has since started a successful solo career, and is also one half of the Evelyn Evelyn duo.

  • A beautiful soul playing beautiful music, that's what music is and she creates it so easily

    I Love this song.

  • Amazing, simply Brilliant.

  • for me this is one of the most emotional performances ever

  • oh my god this fuckingterrifies me. i cant tell if she's serious.

  • She makes you feel every word. So passionate. Love her!

  • I want her to live forever

  • @ImmortalMusic10 Fuck, now I realize she can die. I think that would hurt me as much as my own mother going..

  • My second; just as good as the first :)

  • i kissed amanda palmer and i liked it

  • This is...wonderful, fantastic, beautiful. Perhaps her best ever solo performance... She looks so beautiful too.

  • She has such an amazing voice.

  • strepitosa

  • I'm so happy to have seen such an amazing artist. Ilu aFp <3

  • i love Amandas solo album possibly more than yes virginia but i would have loved to hear it as who killed the dresden dolls. there chemistry is something special i think brian was abit foolish quitting

  • I get goosebumps just watching this performance. I <3 Amanda!

  • AMAZING AMANDA. It is so exciting to see her live!

  • she always has the best eye makeup!

  • I would like the ability to be dramatic and say I would go gay for her, but I'm already bisexual. Well... if Neil ever gets sick of her, though I doubt that'll happen anytime soon. ;)

She's looking particularly hot in this one ^.^

  • That last damn line. It's not to be found in writing anywhere. I can't think of any interpretation closer than, "But they couldn't and I cried it." I can't help thinking it's a line that's probably supposed to go with a different line before it than the one she sang here.

The camera overhead is my favorite view of her. It's what you'd see standing right there behind her keyboard. Intimate.

Still, such a desperate performance. Chilling. Oh, you gotta love it, dontcha?

  • @BaldotheDon I've never heard that line before - I'm thinking, since this performance was a year before WKAP came out, she was still figuring out the final lyrics?

...... So I just poked around on the shadowbox (DD fan forum) and apparently the line is "But they couldn't care like I did"

  • @CherriSpryte Yeah, that'd work. Definitely makes more sense than what I was hearing. Good job, Cherri!

In this video, what throws me is that she doesn't annunciate the 'c' in 'care'. Amanda does that here and there, you ever notice that? Drops initial consonants in some words? It's kind of charming, but makes that line hard to understand in this video.

  • @BaldotheDon I could understand it just fine, but it's something I've always felt.

  • @CherriSpryte

thats correct, it is "but they couldnt care like i did"

it is because she finished that song 10 minutes before stage time (she told in some interview) and it is about some rock star she used to date. she knew he would be at the show and the whole song is about him AND some astronauts widow. and she wished so much to play the song when hes in the crowd and thats why she improvised some finish lyrics. of course, afterwards, she had some time to change it for the album.

  • This is so amazing! I can understand why people dont appreciate her as she isnt the best singer in the world bt she is so talented and so honestly raw. One of the best live acts I have ever seen, she is fabulous!

  • She just tears it up. Very much looking forward to seeing you in Prague, AFP. Travel safely and have a great time wherever you go. Beer to have in Prague - Bernard Svatecni Lezak or Svijany. Plzen is ok but over-rated.

  • Got she has so much soul. It's beautiful seriously

  • this is sooooo catchy song!!!!

  • i love it..beautiful..

  • she makes me think I am able to play keyboard really well! & about the who English & German thing! The song is CLEARLY in English her voice sounds a little weird (& a bit too deep honestly!!!) but it's not even close to German ! Yeah German & English are in the same language family, but are VERY different languages!

  • it's not german, it's english, ^^

  • It sounds so different without drums!

  • To Jakexxart: Unless you speak German, you shouldn't say, "It sounds like German."

  • @Punishment247 I know this was awhile ago, but everyone got so worked up about it. My friend speaks German and I took his word for it. All of you can have your own opinion.

  • I just discovered Amanda Palmer and Dresden Dolls about a week ago . its up at the top of favorite stuff of all time ,and I listen to alot of music .

  • English is a german language by origin, so no need to feel embarassed ...

  • Go to 3:58. And as I say above, I'm not sure if it's German. Just assuming.

  • @hyugabob well, I don't know German, I was just assuming since she can speak it and often puts German lyrics in songs when live, but that's definitely not English.xD

  • Outstanding. I agree, she never ceases to amaze.

  • She Rocks!

  • wow first time hearing this song and I adore the lyrics

  • Just look at her face.

Thats where you can tell the true artists.

The song effects her so much. It comes from the heart.

She never ceases to amaze me.

  • @HaysoosLovesYou maybe she is just autistic

  • @MASKONESTER

No she's just batshit insane :D

  • @OperaOfInsanity And that is why we adore her!

  • @HaysoosLovesYou RU naïve or what? Sincerity is no excuse for bad, bombastic singing.

  • @formidas Odd, 151 other people seemed to agree with me. And the likes on the video far outweigh the dislikes. If you don't like her music, don't listen. Plain and simple.

  • @formidas Reflexive cynicism is no excuse for not listening to the song.

  • This performace is amazingly intense and i can't really describe its pure beauty.

You have so much talent Amanda, please never change.

  • Wow, brilliant, what a woman what a singer.

    Reminds me of Hazel O´Connor.

  • this is my favorite version of this song cuz she seems so effected by the words more then any other performance...

  • aristrocatic can suck my balls. douche. you're probably just some fat bastard living with mom right? get a damn life!

  • My trhoat hurts just seeing her, i like how she sings, but that can be good for her throat, wow

  • @aristrocatic This me, giving you a thumbs down. Because youtube wont let me.

  • this is the first video i saw and fell in love immediatly...........

    she's too.. too.. too..

    words fail me again

    and again

  • I saw her sing Creep with a ukulele. And that was enough for me.

  • i dont know about her music education but it seems as if u dont need much of it to be an amazing unique beatuiful (and thousand other adjectives ive never even haerd of) artist!

  • i cant make out the word change near the end "but they couldn't.." instead of "its a very.." an1 know?

  • i was wondering about the same thing. let me know if you find out.

  • I'm pretty sure it's in German in this performance.

  • @Jakexxart its actually in english :3. perhaps your volume is not up enough? they are actually kinda similar languages.

  • Uh, no? Not even a little bit?

  • How i can only love the way she also plays the roles that she sing of.. She clearly plays the role of a woman who is about to loose her mind, since she misses her lover. Man she is a great artis

  • amazing artist !!!

  • she's kinda scary...

  • lol

  • you're a joke.

  • I must see her live.

  • lost soul

  • I saw The Dresden Dolls live for the first time when I was 15, seriously changed my life forever-- when Amanda came out with her solo stuff I was amazed that it was just as... fuck, do we even have words to describe it? as the older stuff with Brian. I can never get enough, holy shit! Thx, Amanda-- you got me to start playing piano, which (in all honesty) has probably saved my life on more than one occasion. You've really sparked an entire generation <3

  • Oh my gosh me too my story is pretty much exactly the same accept i haven't seen her live yet :( she was in an 18+ venue when she came although i'm 15 now and shes coming in november so you never know ;) and i agree with everything you said :)

  • love

  • She puts so much emotion in her music.

    I fucking love her.

  • I know! I've never seen anybody put as much emotion into their music as Amanda has.

  • Yeah and each song is special which is what rocks about her.

  • You should check out a band called Hierosonic. She did vocals on a song of theirs called Circus Freak Love Triangle, and they're equally emotive. Incredible shit.

  • Amen to that. She one of those rarities in the increasingly robotic (i.e. Auto-Tuned) world of pop music.

  • I agree

  • darkkkkkk

  • fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love you

  • Shes amazing!

  • is that eyebrows i see? none the less, she was stunning as always

  • I'm at a loss for words. This is excellent.

  • I know you have to play music, amanda..thank you

  • I Love your music so much ::)

  • this version is so much better than what showed up on the album.

  • I think so, but I miss others instruments in this.

  • ich habe AmandaPalmer im "gulli" gefunden und muss sagen sie macht interessante Musik.

  • Cute.

  • I wish they wouldv'e put more of this version in the CD version, the CD, version just sounds so un astronaut like ya know.. but i love both i am most def not complaining, :)

  • its sounds as great as the studio version, i love her♥

  • she seems so different without brian. like angry and pained. but who knows? it could be all that passion lying inside of her.

    love this song!!

  • What's the current situation with her and Brian? Are the Dresden Dolls done for good?

  • they're supposedly getting together next year but those are just rumors i heard. but by what ive been seeing it seems like amanda is well off on her own. -_-

    long live the punk cabaret.

  • Some people will get it, and some people won't.

  • She is SUCH a mad bitch, what I wouldnt do to her ;) ♥

  • i love her she is so cool and pretty

her music is so artistic and i love it so much

    amanda i love you!!!!

  • awesome

    I love DD

and she as a single singer

  • She's so weirdly mesmerizing.

  • exactly

  • I can hear alot of passion for her art, it's refreshing to see that kind of passion that doesn't give a shit what people think...

  • не то слово=)

    Love Amanda more and more.

  • огонь баба : O

  • Does anyone know if she's releasing sheet music for her self titled album?

  • Yes, she's already released a book of sheets for "Who Killed Amanda Palmer". It's available on Amazon, I believe.

  • yeah it is. thats where i got mine :)

  • uaaahhh!!! stupenda

  • Oh wow. She was really... What's the word for it... Dramatic? Expressional? I don't know. But she showed a lot more emotion in this video then she usually does with most of her live performances. Maybe the song just really meant something to her, or something.

  • i love her talent, her voice, her music, her face, her everything. she's an amazing performer. i love the fact that she loves her fans. i cant wait to meet her someday!

and yeah it does look like shes crying at the start too......

  • This girl has such an amazing personality. I have to be honest, when I first seen her I didn't care much for it. Then the more I watched, the more she grew on me, and she may just be one of my favorite performers to date. Much love to Amanda Palmer. 5 star.

  • It's nice that she actually sounds like the album in her live performances. I hate when a singer sounds absolutely horrible live. This sounds almost exactly like the album version. :3 yay amanda palmer.

  • i actually really love her voice!!!

  • Argh why do people who don't like someone's music listen to it and then write idiotic bullshit? Does it give them some kind of kick that they spoke their "opinion" under some fake internet name & posted it on youtube? Oooo.. Big tough man you are.

I love Amanda Palmer and I hope she doesn't read this fucking nonsense.

  • "but i have seen the darkness in the day". my favorite line, amanda is a genius.

  • I play a Kurzweil keyboard too :) I always think of it as my tenuous connection to the great Amanda Palmer haha.

  • Just an amazing performance.

  • some of the faces she makes looks like she's about to cry...But she's still awesome!

  • man i'm completely addicted to this song...i can't help but think how good it would sound if covered by new order.

awesome performance too! but you are my love the astronaut...GAH I LOVE IT!!!
