Best cover/remix ever! (Cure-love song, ozzy-diary of a mad man) awesome! Damn a perfect circle kicks ass, thought there name is ironic cuz there is no such thing as a "PERFECT CIRCLE!" Just waiting on that new album in 2012! Yeah boiii!!!
its intense, and its APC its going to be. but, its just not Randy playing it and its not ozzy singing it and the energy is just wrong. you simply cant cross the cure with ozzy osborne, you just cant. this is why. its crazy creative but the recipe is well, bland
its intense, and its APC its going to be. but, its just not Randy playing it and its not ozzy singing it and the energy is just wrong. you simply cant cross the cure with ozzy osborne, you just cant. this is why
does anybody know what the guitar plays to connect both songs? i think its new and not in those both cover songs. hear it at 1:53 can somebody write a tab ? ^^ pleeease!
i like it because iv;e heard it at a show some people just don't realize how spoiled we are that this is actually out there. this and a zillion others at our finger tips. thanks for posting
live versions are more personal. and it also proves the band is really good. i kinda like that there's not a studio version. makes it more artistic and rocking. and also less pretentious(spelling haha). i think you have to pay the writers or rights people to put covers on albums.
@willronin as far as I know this is the only one out there...this is like 11 years old or so...before APC's first Cd came out I think...or right before they toured...They did Ashes to Ashes when I saw them...this would have been epic thou
wow, i havent heard this version in years. i was there when they did this live. so many great memories, and yeah it really does sound like he's saying diarrhea of a madman haha!
@Karma6389 if you have a youtube downloader you could download it to your itunes. idk where to get it thow. my boyfriend got it for me. i can download any youtube video i want and it can be on my ipod.
Call me crazy, but am I the only one that (as frustrating as it is) enjoys the live version? Something about the fact that no studio version exists, the muffled lyrics, and the sort of mesmerizing/chilling background noise/tone gives the whole thing a sort of 'forbidden fruit' kind of feel. Almost sends chills down your spine....
@danler02134 you aren't crazy. the cure's original is absolutly awsome and ozzy's diary isn't even close to it but together they are way better !! No wonder they don't make an album version, it's their best song, you want to listen to it you buy the ticket hehe
@danler02134 I remember hearing this song like 5/6years ago, It is such an awesome cover, but you are totally right when it comes to the bit about "forbidden fruit" theres no other versions and this is the best one yet. Maynard wow!! :)
Finding a song that lyrics from another song fit well into, that's been done. I personally like Monte Montgomery - Stairway to Freebird. That is the ultimate zinger to all the idiots who just scream really popular classic rock songs to someone who is playing songs on stage...i love it
Regarding everyone bitching about the non-existence of a studio version; sure, a studio version would be sweet but half the beauty of this version is the random yells and claps from the audience. makes me wanna yell and clap
Some people hold the view that studio recordings do not keep the feelings and/ or energy of particular live recordings--listen to live Greatful Dead in contrast to their recorded albums for one example.
This is such a damn good cover. I mean really, collaborating two songs from totally different genres and making it into a masterpiece. Maynard is a genius.
@MrSuperMexican Dude, turn your volume up and listen to it several times in a row. It's obvious that he's saying "diarrhea." And it totally makes sense if you follow Maynard's personality.
It's a mixed cover of Ozzy Osbourne's "diary of a madman" and The Cure's "Lovesong". Groundbreaking masterpiece, the best cover if've ever heard. Who says that cover's are uncreative hasn't heard this song, yet...
ive listened to this so many times, after maynard says diarrhea of a madman a girl in the audience actually said ew if you listen closely, im wearing earphones btw so he did say it
This isn't the whole song. There is a guitar solo and such that comes up, but the original files were broken into two parts. It's about an 8 minute song. Check out the second part because it's just as bad ass!
If you have it, or can get it, listen to the actual live version of DOAMM from Columbus,Ohio in 2000..Aud recording, but so great hear him sing this song live..meaning ozzy's DOAMM
fucking shit is there a version of this thats NOT live?
I mean seriously when im listening to music on my own I want to hear a good quality version if I want live I go to a live show. Live versions when you aren't at the show are shit.
@MilkChan funny you say that becuase i said the same thing like 4 years ago when i heard this song. after searching and begging long and hard the true and real answer is no. as much as that sucks, from what i heard this song was only played for the first stretch of there first tour for mer de noms. thus saying since they only sang it a handfull a times for such a short stretch of there tour we can pretty much say that were are happy with this version being such good quality.
@MilkChan Alot of times, when a band is covering songs, they are done live. They don't always do them in a studio so you won't be able to find a studio version...
Like for example:
Green Day covered "My Generation" by The Who. It's on one of their earliest albums. But they have covered "Shout" and "We are the Champions" but there aren't any studio versions because those have been performed at the concerts.
it didn't fit in the other comment, so: since maynard doesn't just cover something for coverings sake, he wanted to show appreciation for the cure's passionate singing style, and apc/tool's metal roots through ozzy osbourne.
a little education: the songs used are: diary of a madman - 1981 - ozzy osbourne. lovesong - 1989 - the cure. it picks out differents parts from both: musically: * the trubadeurish beginning of "diary of a madman" (by the way, the tristram theme in diablo sounds a lot like this) * the rest is from "lovesong", although the hard parts sound original? lyrically: it goes: diary of a madman - stanza 1 & 3, lovesong - stanza 2, then stanza 1 line 1, diary of a madman - stanza 6, lovesong - stanza 2
This song is so surreal. I love this. Maynard is a vocal God. Covering this song was a very good move on their part. One of my all time favorite songs being covered by one of my all time favorite bands. Thank you for uploading this! I can't thank you enough!
I've seen that it is possible to find a tool that allows you to download music from youtube. =) So try searching google for youtube + download or something like that.
