Those 2 songs were B-sides for, respectively, "Mohair Sam" and "Tears a Go-Go." The strings in "No Home" (written by Charlie) were arranged by Ray Stevens. "I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water" could be viewed as a double entendre, as Charlie was a smoker and (as the Trickster! site explained) "a werewolf alcoholic." That'd catch up to him eventually, as his health declined, plus as he became well-known, so did those habits, culminating in unpredictable behavior, on and off stage. Anyhow, great!
