If you have a laptop - put it outside and play some of the goldfinch clips on youtube of them singing. I didn't have any for months and then i started playing their calling sound on the laptop, now I have about 15 to 20 on any given day. Not sure if it's a calling sound or a challenge though, because the robin is getting awful agitated with it. Seems to attract siskins as well.
some finches migrate. if so, they'll be back in 9 months or so. also, the nyger seed must be fresh or the finches will go elsewhere. hopefully you dont have any cats in the area, hitting the nests.
Those are goldfinches? Are there multiple breeds of goldfinches then?

I have had my feeder with Nyger Seed out for nearly 2 weeks. I haven't seen the 1st Goldfinch. I wonder if I am doing something wrong?

Awesome. We've been getting all sorts of birds in our garden... it's unnatural.

What kinds? The spring migrants are all arriving around now. Any particular unusual ones?

I'm not entirely sure (I don't know an awful lot about birds I'm afraid), sorry!

Fair enough :) I'm into birds myself. Goldfinches are one of my favourites.
