The subtitles when the chef was speaking are insulting! His Japanese was absolutely fine!
But foreigner who lived in Japan know why they do that...

wow really?? i mean in korean shows they have subtitles for EVERYTHING..i thought it's the same in japan !!

...depends. Sometimes, they have subtitles, sometimes they don´t. Still, I don´t see the reason why you need subtitles when someone speaks the language nicely. (If they were meant for deaf people, it is perfectly alright though).
