  • Thanks for uploading this original classic sung by Vincent De Paul Peiris. As he emerged from the Roman Catholic faith dedicated this song for the Buddhist and showed a religious harmony. Sri Pada is a symbol of multi faith. This song originally recorded into a HMV Gramophone record.

Priyantha, this song has so much affinity with me as I used to sing this while travelling on the school bus in the 1970s and it was just a fine memory.

I think people like this song irrespective of any age.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • Dear Vidhura,

This is a beaut ....far far better than all the newer baila versions ! ... Great photos of 'Samanala Kande' It takes the whole night to climb the 37.0 kms plus strong legs !

    Thanks ..

  • @ShuaibCassim

    Dear Shuaib,

Thats very true. My profile picture was taken when we came down on our trip to siripada recently. We set off around midnight and reached the top by around 6am and had the 'ira sewaya'. Great venture! was using 'Siddhalepa' when we came back home :)

    Thanks for your comment.

    regards

    Vidhura
