Love this salad! I love avocado too. Up to 60 percent of everything we put on our skin is absorbed into the bloodstream. If your tattoo is not henna or temporary, it would be hurting your health. I also think the same thing about commerical cosmetics. It is killing women out there. Tattoos are a slow killer. We have so many out there. Henna is a temporary tattoo. Lasering a tattoo off would be a good health choice.
Does eating raw like this.... how does it help the bathroom experience if you know what I mean. You were obese once, so I'm sure you know what I mean. I am obese and looking to lose the kind of weight you did, but I just don't know how to go about it. I saw you making a green smoothie and then didn't eat until dinner - now that's something I'm not sure would work for me. I will also be working out everyday. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you...
@MsSweetPuppy it's taken phillip around 4 years to reach this point where he feels comfortable eating that much, you're just beginning. I obviously can't speak for him but i have found that whilst initially I ate when I was hungry until I was full whenever as long as it was raw, you do find yourself needing less because you are getting so much nutrition but just take it slowly, day by day, and you'll get there :) good luck, I have faith in you
you could use the salad knives they sell at Bed Bath & Beyond. They're non-metal. Unless it has to be wood for your lifestyle? I'm ignorant to raw foodism, although interested in it. I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian.
I'm really happy for you. I know that you've dedicated 4 years to be in this "place", in your life. I celebrate your journey, and I thank you for posting videos like this. My husband and I are new to this...raw journey...and these videos and your talks are very helpful.
@LovingRaw I totally agree, that quote just made me laugh out loud because I relate to it. Sometimes I'd want to get fancy but not day to day. Dry humor I love even though I don't think you were trying to be funny it was 1 of those odd funny things!
Just heard about you from Kevin gianni...new to the raw food world here. I subscribed to you. I have never bought butter lettuce but I will now ! Loved the video..thanks so much for sharing! By the way ...where would I get a tray to do sprouting like you had...never seen one like that in Texas.
@PostTheMissing The most common reason I have heard is that the metal causes fruits and veg to oxidize more quickly, which causes browning, and is thus not good if you have to store it for a few hours.
I can not really afford to buy organics; and I have heard that raw food has higher level of pesticide compared to when it is cooked...I am wondering if you are on a raw diet; do you have to consume 100 organic????
Your philosophy rocks:) And I prepare foods the same way, lol. Lemon squeezed by hand, no measuring, everything done by eye. I think it's a very mediterranean way to 'cook'. Lots of fun:D
I think your amazing! i love your videos! if i could find someone who has been throgh what you have been through and someone who raw vegan like you and me i would have met my perfect match!
could you just watch the video again and type them up yourself?... it's not hard!... butter lettuce, cucumber, tomato, yellow & red bell pepper, cilantro, hemp seeds, flax oil, lemon juice, avocado, dandelion greens, nutritional yeast, alfalfa sprouts, mung bean sprouts, sea salt, cayenne pepper.... that was NOT in order, but it's a salad, so who cares?... i just don't see why you couldn't do that. it's such a pet peeve!!!! stinking lazy people!!!
Thanks for the tips. I love salads too. Am trying to lose weight too. But is it humanly possible to have just the salads for dinner?? Will we not just die out of malnutrition after a week of having just salads for dinner? Is it all raw food only u eat? The whole day?? Dont u feel depressive coz u r nt having any cooked food?
Never thought of putting cayenne and yeast in my salad. Will have to try this recipe sometime. I have never had butter lettuce. I don't even know if we have it here in my town. hmmm
Thanks for the suggestion. Your right, it does hold a certain value to me. I dont wear it all the time. It reminds me to stay humble and have fun... its not all about what I wear but rather the content of the information I am presenting. : )
Salads are in no way the only thing raw foodies eat... at least not this one! But with the exception of the flax oil, that salad looks positively delicious. =D
Nice poncho. Did you raid DW's closet? :p Just kidding. you look really comfy.
I thought I would share my favorite salad lately:
1/2 bunch kale, 1 honey mango, 1 jalapeno, diced, 1 green onion, 1/4 avocado, 1 tbsp tamari. I mash it all together with my hands. The mango/avo/onion/jalapeno/tamari mashed together makes the most delicious, creamy dressing (sometimes I add lemon juice). Then I add whatever else I feel like.
Your salad looks amazing. Love the sprouts!! Thanks so much for sharing! Yum!

Tip - put everything in taupe-wear and shake it; after everything is mixed you can put back in the bowl - it is less messy.
