GB has such a light touch on the neck, much like Joe Pass. He caresses the instrument and coaxes out the music without the pyrotechnics indicative of so many contemporary players.
this guy was to me a very skilled and crafty player, but nows he's very skilled, very crafty and very seasoned....right now my all time favorite.......BIG UPS TO G.B.
I love your music outstanding performance brings back good memories of being a little girl growing to a grandmother I love it gotta love his moves jam on peace.
@RipplingOphelia Jimi Hendrix? B. B. King? Chuck Berry? Joe Pass? Maybe Les Paul himself? I don't mean to bring that out but I was just extremely annoyed by your comment. I'm not saying that George Benson isn't a great guitarist, hell I have tons of his music on my computer. I'm just saying that it's very disputable! Anyway this is without a doubt a spine trembling song that I have constantly listened to.
@Battousai721 Well, it's all subjective. You've named some very sick guitarists. In terms of technique, however, George is ahead. In terms of innovation, it's hard to top Mr. King. Also, high fiver for an awesome screen name! Kenshin, lol
@RipplingOphelia In terms of technique, modern day Stochelo Rosenberg or a Bireli Lagrene are miles ahead even those famous guitarists mentioned. Therir techniques are...well...beyond words. Look up Rosenberg Trio-For Sephora and tell me his finger work isn't miles beyond GB.
@ArmyMedicRN "Look up Rosenberg Trio-For Sephora and tell me his finger work isn't miles beyond GB."
I just did and NO! Rosenberg's finger work is not miles beyond Benson's.
This video does not represents Benson's more commercial work but if you look up "George Benson Octane", you will have to admit that his "finger work" is miles beyond most jazz guitarist which is what most jazz listeners and musicians agree with.
@ttsqas Totally concure, GB is scores ahead of Rosenberg Trio-For Sephora. GB is more intricate with his fingers and he's SOLO they are three. Scale them down doing solo and GB would blow them away as he does with three of them. Don't get me wrong they are damn damn good but by far not comparabl to GB. There style of playing is more simplistic than GB and GB does a lot of natural improvisation I bet there's s most likely always set. However GB is the dominant master above masters.
Pure heaven, this man and his guitar, George Benson just lights up my soul every time I get into his music, this should be in the churches as well, it's good for the soul .
see you soon mate :)

@nikoathanasatos George is untouchable. Few come close (Metheny, Pass, Montgomery come to mind).
