  • You have to look inside the watch to see if it says "CASIO". if it says g-sport or anything else its fake.

  • decided im gonna just go with the G-Shock GW-M5600 instead. i know its dumb, but i'd rather have the date and time displayed at the same time rather than having to hit the button every time i need to see what day of the week it is. i still love the way this one looks though. its nice and sleek

  • this might be my first authentic/durable watch that im gonna get. last watch i had was from 2007 and it was a cheap ass Walmart watch given to me by my mother for christmas. those things usually have shitty material that easily breaks. getting a G-Shock watch will be a big step up.

one thing i like about this watch is that its solar powered and it automatically sets the time for you. i think thats real neat and handy. plus this watch seems pretty dang durable. im excited about getting this

  • lol time is 5:55 :P

  • I have a boatload of G Shocks and this is still one of my favorites! Cool ass review!

  • I've never seen that model with black letters on the case.

  • @TheSoundBarrier Oh wow, you did that yourself. OK.

  • I'm thinking about getting this or the DW5600E-V1. Which one would you recommend? Also, have you had to replace the battery on this one yet?

  • @TheGeorgeJunior Still has the same battery in it, 2 years later!!

  • At 5:40 you mentioned that you can manually initiate the atomic time alignment. We are at Day light savings time and mine has not realigned yet. I read that it does it automatically but I don't remember reading that there is a manual way to do it. Could you please explain the manual procedure for me?

Also, my first GShock lasted a decade before the wristband cracked, getting a replacement is difficult but I found a cheap one and gave it to my son, heehee.

  • @hathcocked i recently purchased a DW-6900NB-7JF casio g-shock watch for my husband for his b-day...but i really cant tell if it real or fake..and was wondering if you can tell me wat i should be looking for on the watch that makes it fake or real.....the last thing i want to do is give a FAKE watch to my husband....lol your help would be really appreciated....thanks and i hope i made sense...:)

  • @rxnnvll82 I'll send you a PM in just a sec.

  • @mmafighter51 How did you do that? does it works with gw m 5600?

  • @mmafighter51 Yeah I actually had someone tell me that, much happier with it on the longer setting. Thanks for watching!

  • @hathcocked How do you set it longer? I looked at the instruction manual, and it says to hit light which just turns on the light. -.-

  • @mmafighter51 I work with my hands for a living and many times I have cuts and scrapes I would rather not be in the video so I toss on some work gloves.

  • i like that blackout my dude. good watch to use in a sauna?

  • @jonnithundahhhh I've never taken it into a sauna but I wear it all the time in a hot shower and haven't had any issues with it.Yeah blacking the watch out is always the first thing I do lol. Thanks for watching!

  • @hathcocked my 20th birthday is coming up im looking to order it. what are the pros and cons of ordering from Amazon as opposed to straight from casio or a retailer themselves?

  • @jonnithundahhhh I have never ordered direct so I can't really say how that goes. I can say that I have never had a single problem with an amazon transaction. If the price is comparable I always order there, they have great shipping.

  • does casio make solar watches that have hands?

  • Can you explain how the atomic/solar battery works?

So if i charge with solar power at 100% = 5 hours, does that mean its good for 8 months and i can repeat that process??

  • @aznpride626 That's pretty much how it goes. I have never seen the battery be low in anyway, doesn't take much to keep it going.

  • @joshl929 That's a great price! I've worn mine every day since I picked it up and it's still going strong. I'm sure it will serve you well.

  • Best review! good job!

    thx!

  • @irjik33 Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

  • i need help... im thinking of getting this gshock for highschool to be ''in style''. but im not sure if i should get this. need help. should i get this? it look nice...

  • @megajon12 I don't think you can go wrong with a G-Shock. They are solid watches.

  • @megajon12 these are great, i bought one a few months ago, they have so many features, i would reccommend this over any other g-shock

  • @jm0n55 It's my favorite g-shock for sure. Has all the features I want and an understated look.

  • whats the crystal type for the dial cover? I've had this watch for a week now, and was just curious

  • @iknoimemo It's mineral I believe.

  • @hathcocked Okay, Thanks! and by the way. this video helped my decision on buying this watch, im just trying to find a place that sells the watch strap for the GW-M5600BC just because i like that strap, haha. any suggestions on a website?

  • @iknoimemo The only site I saw that has it is tiktox but it's in the uk I think and it would be a pretty expensive watch strap lol.

  • @hathcocked yeah, i checked and thats the only one, and then did some research on it, and it runs around 90 dollars! D: lol

  • @hathcocked Well, the watch thats supposed to be shock resistant, i guess doesnt live up to its name. i was skateboarding today, fell and hit my wrist on the concrete, moderately hard, and the LCD under the dial cover cracks and breaks.

  • @iknoimemo Well you know what they say shock resistant doesn't mean shock proof. That sucks that you broke your watch! I would try to contact them and see if they will replace it under warranty.

  • @hathcocked Youve gotta point. Ill try to contact them

  • @iknoimemo Let me know how it goes, I hope they replace it for you.

  • @hathcocked Will do.

  • How's the G shock holding up for you? Thinking about getting one just curious if you've had good luck with yours.

  • @gtndrty I have been wearing it every day for since I made that video and have nothing but great things to say about it. I have worn it in all weather conditions including swimming a few times and it has never skipped a beat. Can't recommend the G Shock line enough.

  • @hathcocked Thanks for the update. I think I'll steal your sharpie mod also. :)

  • @gtndrty lol feel free. Nothing is safe in my home from the black sharpie!

  • Backlight time should be adjustable 1.5seconds or 2.5 seconds. Time mode -set/adjust until flashing then press the Light button or B button. You should see a few dots 4 for 1.5sec or a bunch of dots for 2.5seconds.

  • you should be made aware that you can change the backlight time in the main time adjustment screen. I think you can make it 2.5 seconds long as opposed to just 1.5 seconds.

When you have seconds blinking, press the light button to toggle between 1.5 and 2.5 seconds.

  • nice review. i love the DW5600 series[:

and how do you activate the mute/silencer?

  • I love my gw 5600j. Thanks for the review. I love the comment about if you don't know what day of the week it is you have a bigger problem... LOL. I absolutely agree!

  • @r56mini lol thanks! Glad you enjoyed

    the review.

  • what does it mean wen the three bars are lit?the one wit the numbers on the bottom.and one more question...does it charge by itself?do i have to click anything for it to charge?

  • The bars at the bottom are showing the strength of the signal from the atomic clock. When you see the watch say "RC" in the corner that means it's syncing the time. It charges on it's own when exposed to sunlight, you don't have to do anything.

  • @hathcocked ok thanks

  • will it be foggy inside of the watch wen u take a hot shower?

  • No I shower with it on all the time and have never had an issue.

  • Good Review. Mine's in the mail. Why the gloves?

  • Can It get anymore HD than this? o.o

  • Thanks for commenting.

  • "If you don't know what day of the week it is, you have bigger problems than hitting the button on a watch"... Haha, nice.

Just got this one, its my fourth G-shock. Really impressed with their durability.

  • lol. Yeah you can never go wrong with a G-Shock. Thanks for commenting!

  • i just got a atomic time G-shock with the white resin it's real durable and cool lookin, can't wait to get the frogman one.

  • Very nice. I was thinking about getting a frogman but it's a bit larger then what I want to wear on my wrist. Sweet watch though.

  • This is a great watch for the money. When shopping around for a new watch, I was immediately drawn to the G Shocks, as they seemed to offer a lot of performance for the money, which I love. I also wanted a solar powered model, and was drawn to the more "classic" looking versions. I did like the simultaneous day/date on the newer GWM model, but this one looks better IMO. Being a resident of the US, I couldn't really justify 30-40 dollars more just so my watch can sync if I ever go to Europe.

  • All things considered, after a year of use, this watch still looks and feels brand new, and has been working out very well for me. Don't regret the purchase at all, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a very tough, low maintenance watch. G-Shocks are basically the Glocks of the watch world...they may not be the prettiest things ever, but they do what they're supposed to do really well and don't cost an arm and a leg. Good review bro.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience with the watch. I always like to hear how the gear I have holds up for others.

  • how did you change the backlight time?

  • When you are setting the time and date there is an option to switch it from 1.5 to 2.5 seconds. Its on page e50-e52 of the watch manual. You toggle the setting by pressing the light button, the icon goes from a small asterix to a bigger bold looking one.

  • I just bought this watch on Amazon. It looks like a great piece with nice functions. I hope to get a lot of use out of it.

  • I am sure it will serve you well, I love mine.

  • hello hathcocked,

How did you remove white paint from inscription "protection" and G-shock"?

  • I just used a black sharpie permanent marker to color it in. Just fill in the letter and wipe off any excess quickly that is outside of the lines. It holds up well, I have never had to recolor it again.

  • I love all the survival related shows. Bear Gryll's, Survivorman with Les Stroud, but my favorite of all time is Ray Mears. I love anything that has to do with survival/bushcraft.

  • nice watch

  • Nice, i love casio watches, but have stayed away from the g-shock and other similar plastic band watches, they just seem so fragile to me, the bands that is, and i could never see a way to get a good band on them. i might have to give my plastic-itis up and get one, especially seeing in the comments about how long the battery lasts. thanks for the review.

  • I am with you on the band situation and I held out for a long time before buying one. I updated the video info with a link to the Mil Shock mod which looks pretty straightforward. Sadly CountyComm no longer sells the Premodded MilShocks and has no plans to bring them back.

  • I am sure all plastic banded watches will eventually give out, but in my experience, casio bands tend to out last many of the timex digitals I've had. Timex watches are tough, no doubt, but their watch bands always got old and broke on me...at least ones from like 5-10 years ago did. I have had the same watch being reviewed here for about a year, wearing it every day, and it still looks brand new. Can't say the same of my stainless watches.

  • I think it might be possible to adjust your back light time check the directions out.

  • Hey thanks for the tip, you were right. I hadn't dove into the manual other then for the basic operation. You have the option of either 1.5 seconds or 2.5 seconds of back light time.

  • no prob i adjusted mine when i got them to the longer back light time .keep in mind it does supposedly lower your battery life a very little bit. i have had the same battery in my atomic solar for about 4 years now with no signs of getting weak yet and my other solar g has been going strong for 3 years no signs of needing a battery they both still indicate full battery strength.

  • nice love G SHOCKS i have two an atomic solar and a regular solar both awesome there the best most accurate watches for the money.
