Interesting archival video. I greatly respect Paul Weller for his songs and music, but he sometimes makes idiotic comments, such as stating there's no difference between Led Zeppelin, Genesis, and the Clash--WTF??!!
@poopologist96 Not sure if you are aware of the history of the Clash and the Jam at this time? They weren't really "buddies" at the time...kind of competed with each other...and so were known to "slag" each other off in the press quite a bit. I'm sure this was one of Weller's typical "swipes" at the time. Though at this point...the Clash had become quite big(esp in the States)....so I'm sure there was a bit of the "they have sold out" in his comments too...
Weller isent this good at miming, it looks like this could have been in the recording studio, maybe this is footage of the recording of the song, sounds excatly like the single.
interesting to hear weller saying that the gift was the best stuff the jam had done and that they still have a lot more to offer in the future ahead of themselves. Yet a few months later they broke up. WHY????
It looks like an alternate video, they axed,in favor of the official one, deliberately done to look like a 60s promo film.Wait this if from French TV? WTF? Was taped off a bad B&W TV ? This is entirely new to me,thanks for sharing !
This could well be the recording they used on the actual album itself, Paul Bruce and Rick are wearing headphones, something they only did in the recording studio.. hmm its an interesting video, good to see Bruce playing the bassline isolated after the song finishes, thanks for adding it!
Listen to the album track, it sounds indentical to this, you can tell that this track was being played live there and then because Paul can't mime to save his life

Some of us get it ... Definitely could pass for one of those old RSG or TOTP clips, just not as slick!

this was gonna be the original video footage, with a bit of fine tuning required. obviously not used in the end.
