@espionz Kawasaki's are about 10-20lbs heavier than a lot of other brands. But the 2012 KX450F is rated really high by a lot of pros. Don't go with a two stroke, sure they are lighter, but the power isn't nearly as consistant nor great.

buddy, the hittest thing on 2 wheels right now is the 199lb, 43HP 2012 KTM 150SX. hands down. i would venture to say that most pros lap times on the 150SX would be on par with the 450s and its a helll of a lot more fun to ride.

I noticed that someone wished they still had the 500 class. The bikes now have more horsepower than the 500's had in the day. In fact Motocross mag ran a story about 2 years ago, where they stated the 500 class had in a sense returned without people aware of it. Those 500 2 strokes had around 35-40 horse, a factory 450 now can be in the low 50 horse range. Arm pump from just trying to hold on for a moto can be insane, notice the seats with modified ridges/grips, some use to help.

In 83 the 500cc factory bikes had about 61hp so know your facts....yeah the 450s are all lot more dialed in as whole bike but those 500s were tough to ride at the level they did. 450s now anyone can clear a 100 ft jump with ease and suspension is so good on a stock 450 and power on 450 that novice riders are can put in at least one lap at almost pro pace....
