I am more into the 'outlaw' country singers but Jim's voice was perfect. I live in Scotland and was brought up on Jim Reeves. The world lost a great man when Jim died but his music is still as touching now it's as if was when he sang it.

GENTLEMAN JIM REEVES. . .and he certainly was a real gentleman. As a serving member of NATO Forces in the sixties in W Germany, Jim was constantly on our radio, either the American (AFN) or Canadian (CAE); you can then imagine how we took the news that our favourite singer had died in a plane crash. Will there ever be another J Reeves?

This was recorded April 15, 1964, three and a half months before Jim died, while he was on a European tour. I don't know if this was the last show from the tour or not, but I do know Jim did at least a few shows in Texas after this, including one in Helotes, Texas on June 7, 1964. He was scheduled to play at Panther Hall in Fort Worth on Friday, August 7, 1964, but of course, did not. I have read they had already put his name up on the marquee' sign. His loss was so tragic. The greatest!

This, again, is the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation in action, unfortunately before they started using pop-filters on the microphones. Originally stored on those precious Ampex two-inch video tapes costing a fortune, the original master recording has now been digitally preserved on Sony Digital Betacam.
