  • since these boxes have gaps here and there, I find packing them with shipping peanuts help to dampen the vibration. If you have the budget, use two batteries to balance the weight. Normally batteries will be the heaviest item in portable power packs

Inverters draw alot of power, even when idle, if possible, I usually omit the inverter due to power loss.

  • really nice setup

    but without traction batterys

    fail

    sorry

  • cool idea. check out the one i made back in Aug 2010.

  • Hey superserverdude - no this system would not power a PC. A PC would drain the battery very quickly - it is only intended to power low watt devices such as lamps, or a CB radio.

A system to power a PC would need a larger inverter, a much higher capacity deep cycle battery, and more solar panels to recharge the bigger battery. This system could however power a laptop for a short time.

  • @coooooperman You can use a DC to DC converter for any ITX PC or laptop that normally runs from a wall adapter. The converter replaces the adapter and allows straight DC power instead of converting power to ac and back to DC. Uses much less power and eliminates the heat problem.

I like the toolbox option for a case. I was overthinking it. Thanks.

  • So you think this would power your pc? if so would it power it all day if the sun is out and shineing?

  • Hey guys thanks for watching, I have made some improvements to this little portable solar generator that i will share soon in another video. I have also recently bought a 70 amp hour sealed lead acid battery for a very good price so i will be making a 'how to' video for a portable generator box to charge and house that battery. ( portable if you have some muscles!) Cheers dudes!
