  • @hannerybananery12 Hannah, I think you did a wonderful job singing this song woth your father. I first heard this song a few years ago. It came on the jukebox ( or satelite stream radio) at a bar I used to go to. I thought it was one of the most amazing, beautiful songs, I have heard. A great proposal/ wedding song. I have become quite a fan of Climax Blues Band after hearing that song, and like alot of their other songs as well. You did a great job, with such a great song. Kudos to you.

  • i think shes hot. id like to see her today

  • Don't ya wish people would take their arguments to their own pages? Anyway....that was a beautiful duet, and a cherished memory!! I just heard this song on the radio, and had to look it up, and glad I came across this video!

  • Seeing this video just brings back all the moments, and with this video still being on here today is so great for me.

But still whats with this negativity? "She looks like she doesnt want to be here"

"She cant really sing" Well what the hell are you bunch of low acts expecting? I was around 10-11 years of age, performing my dads very own song to a number of people i had no relation to. I personally think this is a great moment for both of us. Shove the negativity somewhere where its wanted.

  • @hannerybananery12 You know, Hannah, I first saw this video about a year ago, right after I put the song on a Valentine's Day cd for my wife. For someone who grew up on the music of the 70s, it's still one of the best love songs ever written, imo - a credit to your dad and his band. That said, when I watched this for the first time, and again, now, I see a father beaming with pride more than a shy girl singing for a bunch of strangers. As a father of two girls, 6 and 3, I get it. Well done.

  • SO SWEET .... SO BEAUTIFUL .... I smiled the entire time watching .... And will KEEP SMILING when i hit REPLAY ...... A Wonderful Father/Daughter moment .... she'll treasure this in years to come as Derek does now ... Thumbs Up !!

  • 2 dislikes? really? why?

  • Awesome guys!!!

  • Perfect! No other words describe this video.

  • What a load of bollox again from the fat man Holt.

Isnt it time to give up now that you're well past it!

How often can you keep pushing the same dated song from thirty years ago.

Talk about living in the past.

  • @littlewing827 damn dude ease the fuck up. you are prob a no talent asshole who wishes he could have at least one song to his credit. pussy. -end-

  • awesome find! Great song! Great guy! God keep him and his little girl!

  • Pretty convincing evidence the "good guys" are ahead.

  • Good job hanna....this song was special to your dad, and i bet nothing made him prouder than to have you share it with him in some sort of capacity. Always had a soft spot for this song, lol, since i'm a HUGE Black Sabbath fan. Luv this!!!!

  • Cute but odd and pointless.....

First of all, who wants to hear his daughter? I get the whole bonding thing, but she's a kid and can't really sing that well. Second of all, the song sounds weird being sung by a female, much less his daughter ("when I was a younger man", "I made you my wife"). Maybe if he had a son and he sung it with him it would make more sense. Third of all, if there's going to be a 2nd vocal, make it a harmony vocal, not a double lead vocal.

    Just saying..

  • @zytxuy you must be a lonely man. just saying

  • @blooddudemagic and you must be a jerkoff, just saying....

I'm lonely because I think he let his daughter botch the one good song he wrote? This sounds horrible, fuck you if you have a problem with my opinion.

  • @zytxuy I have a problem with your opinion so yes....fuck me.If you had any talent, and your daughter wanted to share it with you, only a douchbag like you would have anything bad to say about it. Someday you'll grow up and see that your comments fucking suck...if not you'll just always be an asshole. I'm betting on the latter!

  • @xraeddie What talent do you have other than sucking dicks?

  • @zytxuy musical talent...something everyone here can see that you don't posses. And fighting with a moron like you is really not something that interests me.But calling out an asshole for the world to see is always something I am down with! ;-)

Waiting for your next dick reference..... dummy!!

  • @xraeddie Ok, then how about you go suck your father's dick some more? I could give less than a fuck what a jizzbag like you thinks of me. It looks like you're interested in fighting with me, since you're the one starting an internet war by calling me an asshole. I was merely stating my opinion on this video, something I am fully entitled to do. It's not my problem that you don't like my opinion.

By the way, you're calling me a dummy when you can't even spell "possess"!

  • @zytxuy Do you really think that leaving off an 'S' in a word shows my intelligence to be any less than yours.I assure you that the world of YT doesn't share your ignorance.I have no problem with any opinion...but posting it there where his daughter might see it is a real dick thing to do. "War" really??? Only a pussy like you would consider this silliness to be a war. The war is over, you lose, and everyone here agrees that you should just shut the fuck up.

Once again DUMMY,insert dick joke now

  • @xraeddie Once again, I don't give a good fuck what your cuntrag ass thinks of me. I lose? Everyone agrees? What the fuck are you talking about? You are stupid, not just because you can't spell, but because you are the reason the poor owner of this video has such nasty language peppered on the comments section of this video. You're one of those arrogant dick-smokers (there's your dick reference) who think they can say anything to anybody when they don't like their opinion. Keep replying, please!

  • @zytxuy Your are pathetically funny and yet stupid at the same time. Your powers of perception and observation are serious lacking just like your sense of decency. Look at the comments DUMMY...see where the negativity starts.Seems to me that there were many pleasant comments until your dumb ass chimed in with your shitty opinion that is most likely related to the poor life you led growing up with your welfare parents in that double wide you called home. Go fuck yourself..do us a favor! DUMMY!

  • @xraeddie And you must really love being insulted. At least I'm original. You keep saying the same boring thing every time. Dummy, whoa, that really hurts my feelings. Just because you and your mother spent your lives sucking dicks for a nickel, you don't have to take it out on me. How's your dad's AIDS coming along? Maybe he shouldn't have fucked that monkey all those years ago. I will keep this up as long as you want me to. I'm enjoying this immensely!

  • Just fantastic. That song has it all. Timeless. A great cover by Hannah.

  • Great video. He looks like the proud Papa several times during the song. Loved it!

  • This was our wedding song in Oct. 2rd 1982. This song fit me to a tee. I was this person. Then I meet this woman that I've known all my life & she was the one that picked me up.This Oct. will be29 years of marriage for us. The song still means the same today as it did 29 years ago. Think I might surprise her this fall & sing this to her. Wish they still made music like this today.

  • Nice........

  • I love how YouTubers misunderstand someone's comment then go all ballistic swearing and insulting. Two perfect examples here. Like one of them said, get a clue.

  • He was so proud to have his daughter sing with him.

Frankly though, I think she was mortified.

To us he's a star, to her he's old dad, making her sing this ancient song with him in front of everyone. ; )

On another note, it's too bad dad didn't get her to sing the high harmony instead of the melody. It would have sounded much better.

  • You know I think his daughter was only 12 when she sang with her dad, it is a priceless moment and a great song, you should learn it for your "how to play the piano the wrong way" educational videos you post.

  • You don't sound very smart. I realize his daughter was very young. That was the point. As far as my videos go..... I'm going to check your page to see if you have played any better than me. If not, then I think you should shut up.

  • Comment removed

  • What are you talking about? I never insulted the young girl. My point was that she was probably embarrassed that her dad made her sing that old song in front of everyone. I never said she was a bad singer. I said it would have sounded even better if she sung the high harmony because being a girl her voice is naturally higher than her father's. As it was, there was no harmony.

  • Why would she be embarrassed doing a duet with the singer of one of the best songs of all time??? Is that something you need to be forced to do?? Get a fucking clue.

  • Comment removed

  • mikeydfromsd, I'm assuming then that you are a 12 year old girl. Remember, that song is 30+ years old. When that song came out, 30 years before was the 1940's. I don't know of any teen in the 1970s that thought a song from the 1940s was cool.

  • @at90percent

LOL whats wrong with a song being 30 years old? oh anyway 1940s are awesome. see, kids would naturally think that oh old is not cool. but as they grow up they'd realise that the 'old' music has a class of its own, unlike 'new' music where everything comes out of a mold cause i cannot for the life of me remember any music from this current age of the millenium. oh okay i see what you're saying about the kid being embarrased. well maybe, but bottom line is i wouldnt assume. :) Tk cr!

  • @smokeofsampoi I was just saying that when you are a young teen, 30 years is like the Roman times to you. ha ha : )

When I was a young teen, the early '60s seemed like it was a couple of thousand years ago. Now the same distance in time is back when Kelly Clarkson won American Idol. Seems like a week ago. : )

  • This song always moves me. A classic that will always be enjoyed even for future music lovers...To you and your band.....I salute you

    A job well done

  • Awsome jobs Derek and Hannah. I have loved this song since I first heard it in the 80s. I plan to sing it to my wife on our next anniversary party.

  • Derek,

An honor to share the same space with you. Absolutely a fantastic song. This was the closing song at my wedding last August because it perfectly described the relationship I have with my wife. It also happened to be the only song I insisted on having played. It is one of the few songs that I never tire of and love dearly. It is truly a song that transcends time. Glad you got to share this moment with your daughter. Thanks again, and cheers!

  • Derek... I've loved this song since the first time I heard it back in 1981. I never get tired of it, and everytime I hear it I think about my beautiful wife. I'm a big Beatles fan, and the song I LOVE YOU is right up there with them! Thanks for writing it.

  • More than a timeless classic Derek. Along with: Stone's "Angie", Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight", Lennon's "Jealous Guy" & Elton's "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word", In my opinion this is one of the Top 5 greatest love ballads ever written. I'm sure I am not alone.

  • ha i was abit nervous on this song so thats why i sounded so bad

thanks for the comments so far! :) maybe another song soon x

    hanna bannana :D

  • Oh my GOD! Derek Holt is on here!?! Mr. Holt, I cannot thank you enough for writing this song! It matches the story of my wife and I meeting PERFECTLY! I was a devil-may-care knucklehead, going nowhere fast, and as corny as it sounds, she came along and saved me. We play it every year on our anniversary.

    Thanks again!

  • thanks for responding to our request for a 2008 version. looking forward to it.

  • Hi Everyone, thanks for all the messages I will be doing a new 2008 version of the song,It was a special moment for me to have my Hannah sing the song and with such confidence, she makes me a very proud dad.

    Derek

  • Hi Derek. Hey I just want to tell you, I was reminded of your song a couple of years ago when I heard it playing in a store. I was kind of floored, it all came back to me so pleasantly. I was eager to get home & find out who the hell was behind such a perfect tune. I looked over at the checkout girl and she was singing it. Thanks to internet I found title and artist but no luck @ youtube, until I tried again yesterday & found your TOTP performance. (cont)

  • Hi thanks for the comments and messages,Its good to know you love the song.A timeless classic? , I hope so, also just for the record it was my solo idea and Pete played it, none of the other guys really like the song either, its a bizarre tale.

    Cheers.

  • (cont) Saw your comments @ songfacts. Interesting read, how bizarre & unfortunate. Pete came up with that solo and didn't even want to?? Wow. Anyway, just wanted to echo what everyone says, that you wrote a timeless classic - I don't even have a similar story, yet the song is so good it makes you feel that way. Wishing you (and your cute daughter) all the best, & looking forward to your new version.

  • that was worded 100% perfict. I couldn`t have said that better. Some of us still smile thinking of this song 20-25 years ago.

  • Nice song. Hey Derek do you remember me when you were 20 years old, the concert with climax in bern?

  • What a great gift to pass on to your daughter.

This song has launched a zillion love stories.

    Mine included.

    Keep singing Derek and Hannah.

  • Hannah I noticed that someone else requested that your dad do a solo 2008 version a month ago! no response yet! as his charming daughter will you persuade him. regards Lauren. Dublin Ireland. for my mother Pauline who crys when she listens to this.

  • a loving supporting father that;s what i can feel. any chance you yourself can do a 2008 version solo. hannah well done. beautiful song

  • Derek, she's doing your song justice! Takes after he father! Thanks and remember if you're even in Phoenix, to contact me for that handshake! -S

  • i've loved this ever since i was a kid...it's so cool that father and daughter performing together...awesome!

  • very nice great job This is still one of the all time greatest songs
