  • At the beginning of the sketch, I remember him slipping in and out of his Order of the Golden Rivet costume.

  • The first time I saw it, I thought it was really Egyptian text!! Even though I knew what pulling birds and bushes was! I thought the two Ronnies were geniuses.

  • Ronnie Barker is the King of Comedy

  • Pure genius that man.

  • nearly 1000 likes! lets help out

  • Standforchange08.... stop talking shit and grow a pair

  • Now that I'm a university student and a wanna-be linguist I can appreciate these jokes all the more ;)

  • F.U.N.E. Humour lessons cause im not funny

  • Why would some people dislike this?

  • @oldhoneybee Somethings are really sacred to people, especially people who have that spiritual connection to Kemet aka Egypt. Why would he dessecrate that which is not sacred to him? Unreal how barbaric people really are.

  • @standforchange08 ...Riiiiiiight.

  • @standforchange08 Unreal how sanctimonious some people are ;) (unless you're being sarcastic) Honestly, the same jokes are made about things "sacred" to western culture, and one could interpret this video multiple ways, e.g. making a joke out of how we fail to see the significance to what appears to be just a couple of drawings to us, or it could be making a joke out of how there are some professors who play the part but don't get their own subjects. It's all open to interpretation.

  • and this was b4 txt language.

  • LoL good old comedy,thanks

  • Great sketch, but not as good as the all time great Mastermind sketch.

I'll probably get shot for this by the Ronnie Ultras but I prefer Not The Nine O'Clock News.

  • @PeterR132 Love the sketch they did parodying the two ronnies- the two ninnies

  • @OmegaRFox

Hahaha, yeah, that was great, and very true! Apparently Ronnie Barker took real offence by it, while Ronnie Corbett just laughed and shrugged.

  • L O A Q I C, I 8 2 Q B 4 I P

..when Ronnie Corbet was interviewed by Piers Morgan not long back not a dry eye in the house..

  • Ronnie Barker was a comic genious!!!! He was just amazingly talented. Shame that our society rewards ego junky dickheads these days. RIP Ronnie

  • The British have it hands down when it comes to comedy. Just goes to show you don't have to be vulgar to be funny. I loved The Two Ronnies.

  • i think that the two ronnies did a lot of sexually oriented as well

  • but they donr it in a way that they could just get away with it

  • @TheLousyCafe1960 The point is, it IS extremely vulgar. One just needs to decode, as it were :-#0

  • @ruthmeb I wouldn't call it vulgar, and certainly not "extremely" so; it's not swearing, there are no insults, and it doesn't mention anywhere what they'll do with the "birds". Technically it's a transcription, as it were, of a perfectly normal everyday conversation that would be safe to hold around kids. I think that's the point TheLousyCafe was making.

If I'm wrong, please point me towards the vulgarity as I seem to have missed it XD

  • @TheLousyCafe1960 well spoken

  • 'thistle bee ace' brill

  • Ear ear eye Z. Vat swat eye needle right. Swat eye bin weight tin 4. Thistle bee ace.

  • Thistle bee ace! X)

  • That bit was absolutely brilliant.

  • Best comedian ever, Barker has both voice and word assocaition skills that i doubt will ever be rivalled.

The Two Ronnies were a class act, and although not in this sketch, Corbett played an equally important roll.

  • genius... much better than today's "comedians"

    thnx for posting this

  • toilet=jhon?????????

  • do u actually understand it?

  • Yes Toilets are nicknamed Johns sometimes.

If you ant to know where from, watch the end of Robin Hood: Men in Tights. It's explained a bit there

  • I'm from the U.S. and it doesn't matter that the Two Ronnies use British English, they're just plain hilarious. The fork handles sketch, mastermind, and this are brilliant. Wish we had comedy like this around today.

  • very funny but u missed out the sexy girl used in this sketch :)

  • It came like this

  • i love it it is amazing!!! i don't know how they come up with such funny things!!

  • Ronnie Barker (aka Gerald Wiley) was one of the greatest manipulators of the English language *ever*. Legend.

  • rofl brilliant one ov his best sketches

  • rofl brilliant one ov his best sketches

  • my favourite sketch bar NONE!

  • So damn funny and such genius, watch it so many times and still laugh.

  • lol nice one matt. that is well funny

  • I reckon this is sectarian, having a go at Egyptian religion. They wouldnt get away with it these days, flamin Mithraists.

  • wht the hell is tht suposed to mean? its a comdy sketch not reality

  • That has to be one of the most ridiculous comments I ever read. Sectarian? Are you serious? This has to be the most light hearted humour that was ever about on our T.V! Gosh, I dread how you would feel if you listened to Richard Dawkins and Hitchens debating relgion if you were offended by this tongue in cheek humour.

  • if anything it's making fun of how we british people talk, not the egyptians

  • Get a life, you twat.........it's fucking humour...........Jeeezuuuuuuus. (oh, sorry, is saying Jeeezuuuuuuus, offensive to you too!!)

  • While I genuinely do believe Barker and Corbett were actually members of a Roman army mystery society espousing doctrines incompatible with those of the pyramid builders, I must add that my comment may in part have been informed by comments on the "Catholic Insurance" sketch.

Advice - when you do not understand one word of a ten-word sentence, please find out what it means before starting to rant.

And humour is wasted on those who need a cue-card to know when to laugh.

  • we just watched it, and didn't need a cue card to know when to laugh, so it wasn't wasted on us!

  • People like you take things far too seriously and literally. It's comedy, and for someone who sounds relatively intelligent (in some form), I would've thought you'd know that it's not meant to be taken seriously. Chill out, jeez...

  • Ah - you mean people who take things far too seriously and literally are like me in so far as they take things far too seriously and literally? Otherwise, you know, we do not know one another - there are certainly people very unlike myself who also take things far too seriously and literally. So I cannot fully agree with your statement, particularly since it fails to take account of the sinister aspects of the mysteries of Mithra.

  • Okay, you are obviously too dumb and stuck in your own little world to understand what we're telling you. But I'll try and put it in plain and simple English for you: It's comedy. Not meant to be taken seriously. Not meant to be delved into.

Now if you are still not far enough down to earth to understand, then maybe you should just put your head back in the clouds and stop commenting.

  • Wal, ah guess it murst boee that danged transatlantic irony gap

  • Transatlantic irony gap? I'm British you moron. Anyhoo, I'm gonna stop here. Because the kind of people who leave stupid-ass comments like yours have one thing in common on their youtube account: They have no videos, no favourites, no subscriptions, no subscribers, no comments, no channel design, no personal info. And, oh look....you're no different.

  • British? Then "dumb" means unable to speak, "ass" is a donkey, you failed at "straight English" and you have no excuse for acting like a half-wit straight man. You missed the joke, you're an angry person, good luck.

  • Nah, I'm not angry. I'm just pitiful for people like you. And FYI, in this context: "stupid" means completely idiotic, "ass" has no literal meaning here, it has just been paired with "stupid" to describe idiotic folk like you, and as for the "straight English" comment, well that just proves to point I was making in the first place: people like you take things far too seriously and literally.

  • what the hell?!!! cant u take a joke?!!! jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez

  • I never have watched anything so funny in all my life. They were so ridiculously funny is untrue.

The best comic sketches makers of all time.
