I built this trap, it works so good. One way to triple your output is to build canals in your spawn area: 1 wide 2 deep canal, put flowing water and signs so monsters can only move forward , also make branch canals from a stem canal leading away from all 4 sides. This is much more efficient because monsters that spawned far away can still be pulled into the trap.

When I first built the canals, I increased gunpowder production by like 4 times

Secondly, you wont get XP, coz YOU have to physically kill the mod yourself for them to drop XP. But there are many XP farms too.

umm greate but 1 problem im having... i kep checking this video to see what level the cactus is placed. eye level with the ground i have that right but the spiders wont die... i left this alone for 3 hours and came back to 50 spiders above my head. i dont know why this is happening. can someone help me?

@rdennis02 mobs cant see through glass so you need toput like a line going throught the middle of a 3 wide hallway of glass so the mobs can see you

This still works in 1.1. But seriously, you need to dig WAY back to make this happen. Also, I haven't had anything spawn while standing on the collection spot. I built an enclosed path several spaces above my water that has a dead end. When I just sit there, I can hear them groaning outside and such, but it's annoying to run back and forth to collect and then draw more. Granted I only have 1 side blown out, so that may be affecting my results, but I don't get why I can't AFK on my spot.

@faceroast I JUST finished building mine. And find that standing in the afk doesn't do anything. They spawn in my dark room ('ive only one for now) and I have to go get them. So that sucks I can't just sit there and collect all day while I'm away.

@Notrogemaz toomanyitems didn't even come out till Beta 1.2 -.- Besides no one really cheated during Alpha. Grass spreads into adjacent dirt. It can happen as soon as you put a dirt block down or break one, or can even take forever. It's random. You've obviously haven't been playing for very long.

Yeah, I agree that this was confusing. Though this was really helpful, the numbers said sometimes don't match up with how many you're actually putting down. You especially confused me when you said that the spawning of the monsters won't be within 25 blocks of the CENTER. I didn't hear the center part and you never said otherwise so I built 25 blocks outside of the water and it took me forever to figure out I didn't really need that much. Thanks, though, it does help when the kinks are gone.
