  • so nice !...

  • dude, this is AMAZING. I usually don't listen to jazz(well acid jazz but that's not the original jazz) but you have got me tuned nto jazz now :D

    Great job!!

  • Absolutely love this tune - and you do it extremely well!!! Again, how long is it you been playing saxophone??? And one more question how many hours do you practice a day??

    Looking forward to your answers.

    THANKS, a huge fan :-)

  • you've done it again! you've put in so much effort!! this tone reminds me of Bud Shank, have you heard of him, i can suggest "Bud Shank plays Tenor" (released on the Pacific Jazz label), it's some really mellow playing!

    peace

  • Sounds great man! Do you like Scott Hamilton? Your sound is similar in some regards. Bravo!

  • very nice and mello, i played this song in all county big band 2008 were i was lead alto very nice tune.

  • geezz

    you amaizing!

  • you are so great on this sax...brought back many memories

to me from my trip to Lebannon in 1975. This is the song

played when I walked into the bar at the Holiday Inn...I expected to hear some arab music and they played american music all night.

  • Yeah, You are good.

but why does the piano or drum and bass introduced? Did you play that too?

  • I hear some Stan Getz influence. Great job.

  • nice lyrical phrasing

  • Beautiful, krickey, I enjoy your tone, everything, velvety and sweet like dark chocolate to the ears :-)

  • 1:20 you quote "Love for sale". Not bad, a bit above average player. Old skool tone and a melodic approach which I prefer. A bit much vibrato but I'm told the same thing about my playing. I think we do it subconsciously. It's how we "melodisize" after listening to Trane and Stan. Where is this playalong from? Hal Leonard has a nice version of this tune of their Cole Porter book.

  • Yeah... This is the from the Hal Leonard Cole Porter Play Along (JPA Series, can't remember what number). It's a great book , also has an excellent backing arrangement of It's De-Lovely.

Beautiful playing by the way Crazydaisydoo mate!

  • totaly agree its a colaboration of all the great artists we listen 2 i love to subtone young players dont do it so much now shame all the old tech and tricks are being lost to the modernist style ,old school is the best school

  • man if i could improv like id be so damn happy u got a great thing goin

  • I love the way you play .....Ha if only I had the courage to learn how to play... Meanwhile your music to my ears. Thanks for sharing

  • So awesome, I play chromatic harmonica, but am only able to follow a sheet music, I can only imagine such music played on chromatic harmonica, would sound so good, but I can't play it myself!

  • Hi CDD!

Awesome as ever another to add to my MP3 player. You're getting very famous here as I play your stuff to most of my sax students.

Nice........ white wine tonight I think! He He!

    Lyn x

  • Thanks Lyn, Iv'e just done another Cole Porter tune. This is the composer of the month over at sax on the web. Just put SOTW forum into google and then look for member's recordings. You should join in the chat, or just post a link to your stuff in recordings, you'd get great feedback!!

  • Love it. Beautiful tone and each and every idea seems fresh. What is that at 1:22?

...I like all your videos by the way.

  • thanks, the tune at 1.22 is "love for sale" also by porter.

  • Love it. Beautiful tone and each and every idea seems fresh. What is that at 1:22?

...I like all your videos by the way.

  • I've been missing your music for the past few weeks. But your "Comeback" is simply phenomenal: did you attend a master course somewhere. The quotation at about 1.22. I'd LOVE you do that song too one day. My favourite version is that by Miles and Cannonball. But, who knows, one by you may top that!

  • Spot on with the reference Ulli, no master course, just a lots of "klose" work (a great exercise book) and no computer to distract me :-) You ought to try the Klose, "25 Daily Exercises" although I can only do about 4!

  • Let's try spelling 'Great' again John!

  • Spot on with the reference, an easy one for you! I fear you played most of the Great American Songbook. I have merely read the flyleaf in comparison :-)

  • Anything for 'Sale' around 1.22 Matthew? and sorry to hear your Hard-drive problems but a grat track to return with. Hope you didn't lose any valuable stuff. The decorating here is just about fin. So I will be posting in the next few days. Excellent playing, and thanks for this .

    Regards

    John

  • Cheers Joel, you need to get that big horn back out, and stop messing about with that tiny screechy thing (I am talking about the sop, not a woman) You do sound great on it though :-)

  • Hey I mean if you want to give me one, that'd be sweet. I no longer have a tenor, so I really don't have one to use - one is in the future, for sure. I try to sound good on that little screechy thing, sometimes it's hard though. Working with the other type of little screechy thing can also present it's challenges =P.

  • They are both easy, remember the correct hand positions, spend at least an hour a day on them, and remember to listen hard. (or at least pretend to)

  • Great sound, especially the subtones.

  • I dig the way you dive to bottom of the ocean in search for diamonds! You have a magic way of building to a conscious climax and finding a way sneak back down. Your music is full of selflessness. The best song I can play is a basic version of "Happy Birthday to You". My daughter Loves when I play it whiles she is in the tub. My baby girl says daddy is the best sax player in the world!

    You made another Picasso.

  • My baby girls runs off when I play :-) I think you are the lucky one.... sweet words, not really deserved, but beautifully put.

  • Kudos to the first to spot the deliberate reference at about 1.22
