The purty gal in heels came to gun fight with a water pistol! I've seen rock the floor better! The other lovely dancer had an easy victory,I'm sure she ain't the best around-so enjoy the victory while it lasts. You wanna see folx who know how to throw down and own a dance floor see my playlist RugCutterz-only the best. Or go to my main page youtube/artist842 .B-boys forever!
Lockin, Wacking & Vogue all come from the same line Lockin is the first of the neo street dances after jazz and tap, Wacking is a camper version of Lockin and Vogue is the gay interpretation of lockin via Wacking. The girls in the video are not really House dancing as such, but there are elements in there.
I heard, by way of Brian Green posting on a forum, that wacking was locking that the gay clubs flipped. I thought Vogue was sort of its own thing, although probably influenced by wacking and locking.
Ok....let's clear up some misunderstandings really quick. : )
First - Vogue has historical seniority over all of them! It's been around since the 1930's. It was not influenced by Locking (circa 1960s) or Waacking (circa 1970's). Vogue is it's own distinct individual expression of dance! When done by some of the heavy hitting houses it is the most exquisite and beautiful thing to watch!!! It's breath taking!
(Need more information on go to a ball or find someone from a house. WATCH PARIS IS BURNING!!!!)
Waacking has NOTHING to do with Locking. Ask Don Campbellock (the creator of Locking). He will tell you the same thing. Waacking came from the gay clubs in the disco era in Los Angeles. Dancers such as Tyrone Proctor, Tinker, Andrew....etc.
are not really house dancing? House is freedom, ad therefor the style of expression to house music is free... the style generally known as "house" today is a style that was mainly done by NY dancers such as Tony McGregor, Sekou, Brian Green, Marjory, Caleaf etc. But you can do whatever you want to house, and it's house! So... you can call waacking house without reservations! Peace!
wacking is similar to locking in the fact that there are some similar moves are both are extremely exaggerated. the styles are two complete different stlyes of dance that just happen to coincide on a few aspects.
Well its from the West coast California and it started in the underground gay clubs. It was born in the Disco era. And is considered part of the House culture today. Since Disco gave birth to House music, the dance has it's place within the House culture. There is a lot of history behind the dance that many do not know about, so its good to ask questions :) email me and I'll shoot you in the right direction...

Hummm how is Vogue the gay interpretation of Locking? The two styles have nothing to do with each other.
