On exceedingly dry synthetic lanes rubber can compete. However, I strongly doubt these men shown are in either circumstances. Also, the issue at hand is not the surface material.

@afgandominator Untrue. The current high-density cores facilitate the faster rotation because of less unsprung weight, thereby allowing the circumference to accelerate with less resistance. Get an old ball with the hockey-puck weight block and see the difference. Night and day would be a similar example.

Terraphon - I counter that comment with a whole host of other sports such as Olympic shooting, synchronised diving, synchronised swimming, equestrian sports generally. In fact, bowling would easily bring in more money - the official reason is apparently it isn't competed in in enough countries around the world.

such as: if you play 11 strike and a 9 pin spare at first, your mark should be 290.

but if you play 11 strike and a 9 pin spare at the middle, your mark should be 279-280.

I've been making splits too lately bowling. I think it's because i've been practicing on the Wii bowling. =) I like the Wii Resort Bowling the best...the one with 100 pins. If i get a split, i will line up the ball to knock the pin into the one beside of it. That's what i did at the bowling alley for real the other night and picked up the split!

Wow, would be interesting to see how they work the rules out for it. Still bowling comes down to the ball rather than the player. If all the bowlers were playing with the same ball(s) on so many different patterns. It would be a little more reasonable to think bowling can be in the olympics.

@caldamane Bowling isn't in the olympics because it's not lucrative enough...That is to say that bowling is not enough of a spectator draw to generate the kind of money that would convince the olympic committee that they can make a profit from it. It's all about the money, remember. There has been talk of putting golf in the olympics because, since the coming of Tiger Woods, golf has a MASSIVE viewership and makes ridiculous amounts of money.

It seems you have the same problem that I do, your inconsistant on your games, one game might be in the very low 100's, next game might be 180 or so. Keep working on your bowling, You will get consistancey sooner or later if you keep at it. I dont know what makes you bowl better but I find that I bowl better when Im against someone, rather then just bowling by myself!
